    Hey, nice work! I did get your message about this, but didn't reply as I lack the source files for all but some of my most recent recordings and probably wouldn't have been able to give you any meaningful help other than "rip my videos." But for you or anyone else who sees this, I absolutely do not care if people want to use my recordings in their own videos. I just record the music, I don't own it. :)

      I think you should be monetized for your hard work nonetheless. Good job Dustin!

    • @RandomInnVGMs
      @RandomInnVGMs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      archon9000 That’s why there are groups of people saying that Genesis/Mega Drive sound chip is inferior in something when it isn’t. These recordings are from real hardware; recorded through earphone 3,5 jack. Most of the CRT’s made this console sound worse than it actually sounds. That’s a fact.

      @@RandomInnVGMs well, it "technically" is, since sample reproduction is quite more advanced hardware than FM synth. But since SNES samples also had its limitations (small size) it ends up on a matter of taste, sound by sound. FM synth looks crispier but it struggles to emulate some kinds sounds. Samples looked "muffled" and were limited by quality and quantity.

    You sir, have a fine taste for good video game music. This compilation is quite the treat for my ears. Let me suggest some tracks for potential part two of this awesomness.
    Soleil - The whole soundtrack is absolutely amazing, but I'm especially fond of Dark Night, Burn Daisy and the Town theme.
    Devil's Crush - another soundtrack that needs no introduction, but there is one little known omake track from the japanese exclusive game Shin Kyuugyokuden, named Etude of Wind, which in my opinion is a perfect fit for this sort of playlist.
    Star Cruiser - Star Cruiset - I have nothing to say about this track, just listen to it, if you haven't.
    Lethal Enforcers 2 - Saloon Showdown (Stage 3-2) - Laid back and chill tune mixing two unlikely genres.
    Junction - Ocean - Really soothing theme with subtle melancholic vibe. I adore the PSG of this one.

      Of course there were some of libraries with prepared basic FM tones. But most of them often need some of tunings for the better sound.

    I've been desperately trying to re-create this playlist on real hardware but keep on running into problems. Ican't find the VM's for both SEGA Channel and Sword of Vermillion. I'm also having trouble with playback using Deadfish due to ROM file size limits, I can only fit in around about 15 songs or so before having to reset the console and switching to anouther ROM to continue, kind of breaking the flow. What did you use to playback the music? Also could you perhaps post a link to the VGM's for SEGA CHANNEL and Sword of vermillion?

    • @RandomInnVGMs
      @RandomInnVGMs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Sorry for such a long answer, but yes, I can help! Both VGM's of SEGA Channel and Sword of Vermillion can be found on Project2612.org page. Also use XGM Player (search for XGM builder) it compresses VGM's so it can include way more than 15 songs in one file and looks good!
      If you'll ever finish your playlist, let me know, would like to hear it out on my real hardware, too! :)

    • @RandomInnVGMs
      @RandomInnVGMs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, not sure if it's going to happen because I record tracks from my console using XGM player and a flaschart. Sadly I don't have a paprium cart and it uses additional chips inside of it. That means I can't use my flashcart to record tunes from Paprium.

    • @brorianszk
      @brorianszk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RandomInnVGMs Yes Paprium is using a built in DAC which is a nice improvement. Still sounds good when the new DAC is disabled.
      They're doing a Kickstarter and the game will be available again but not at the most affordable price unfornutately.
