    Great video of comparing the 2 models with a few minor corrections, the 11500TFC has a 550 cc motor, not 533, the 50 amp plug will output the total 11500 watts of the generator without using any of the other outlets and the big difference is cost, the Wgen 12000DF is almost twice the cost. I acquired my 11500TFC a week before Beryl hit here in Houston, ran it continuously for approx. 36 hours ( we were extremely fortunate in regaining power so quickly). Extremely pleased with its performance.

      How was the fuel usage during that run?

    One thing to consider, is that a 50A breaker will not trip immediately if you pass beyond that current level. You will be able to reach a higher current for a short time before the breaker does trip. The higher the current beyond the breaker value, the shorter the time it will take to trip. A different example related to this, is that an AC Compressor/Condenser unit which may have 100 amps of inrush current does not trip the ~35 or 40 amp breaker that it is tied in to.
    The 50A plug will absolutely allow more current than that, as will your cables for a short time (peak / inrush), which is why they are protected properly sized breakers. Short spikes beyond that are going to be handled, but you are correct in that to utilize full continuous power from the larger unit (Wgen14500tfc), you will need to apply loads to the additional plugs since it can produce beyond 50A continuous.

    Maybe the most important consideration is the THD level. The 11500tfc has a THD below 5% while the 12000DF THD level is much higher. Additionally, the Trifuel feature on the 11500 unit provides that much more flexibility - I’d run NG or propane only until getting that becomes a problem then run non-ethanol gas. My 11500tfc unit runs like a champ on NG (using 3/4” NG hose). Converting the unit to a floating neutral was simple and the ‘how to do it’ was in the instruction manual (remove one green/yellow stripe wire) - very simple. Also wired up a male ground plug so I could switch to a bonded ground if needed - it’s wire tied to the frame for quick access. In my case, In my case I have a well pump, sewer grinder, gas heater and water heater, gas cook top and other electric appliances. This unit runs it all with a load demand of about 9kw if everything was running. Great unit - The Wgen 11500TFC😊

    The WGEN12000DF is a totally different model generator than the Wgen14500DF. In the Westinghouse website they're listed as two different models. They're almost the same besides the power output difference. The Wgen12000 puts out 12,000 continuous / watts and the Wgen14500 puts out 14,500 continuous watts. And they’re listed at the same price. If you take a closer look at both generators front panel, you'll see the difference. The Model generator you got there only puts 12,000 continuous running amps and a maximum of 15,000 peak amps. It doesn’t puts out 14,500. I have all these from the Westinghouse Website

    Just purchased the 14500 for the house. I had the 11500 but I felt it struggled a bit, even with a soft start on 5ton. I know others have not experienced it but, I did and not sure why.

    • @wesr228
      @wesr228 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All A/C's are not the same, and unfortunately, the Soft Start effectiveness can vary. Mine reduced the LRA to 25 amps from the first start at 71, for 60% reduction. Others report 40%. The newest A/CS also may come with Thermal Expansion Valves (TXV) which, from my limited understanding is less influenced by the Soft Start due to their mechanics vs a piston driven compressor. a 5 Ton A/C is a very large unit!

    • @gilbosdiy
      @gilbosdiy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@wesr228 I think, from what I read, If yours has what is called a non-bleed txv valve. Then soft start either doesn't work or won't work as well(needs like a different capacitor(bigger) for the soft start), with that said, I am not sure with the NEW Micro Air FLEX, (2-6 tons one size fits all), if that has been corrected.

    The WGen14500TFc is trifuel (thus the TFc). That makes the decision a little harder.If I can keep this outside, run a line inside and run a cabinet size table saw (and other things) on it, I'll probably get the WGEN 11500TFc because of the price differential. It's cheaper than an electrician. I'd have to move it around with my tractor's forks. Any thoughts? This was a great comparison, thanks. I was trying to decide between the two and I came upon your video. Great job.

      Hey thanks for watching. Glad this help. This one of those questions, that only you can answer. Best to take a quick count of the TOTAL wattage you might have running at the same time. That will be the best way to determine which generator. If I had to pick, since it sounds like you have some property/acreage. I'd go with the WGEN 14500 TFc.

    I almost got the 14500 but last minute got the 11500. I've debated on upgrading to the 14500 but i'm not sure yet. I didn't like the load it seen running my AC and hot water at same time. I ended up alternating them for shower during last storm. I am surprised about the wgen12000 being same model as the wgen14500. Do you have any information as to if there are differences or is it just a new rating with the tri fuel model?

    • @gilbosdiy
      @gilbosdiy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think they somehow realized the WGEN 12000DF was capable of more than stated. Or they knew all along, and held back to sell more. So they rebadged it.
      I highly doubt they upgraded the stator/ alternator. If they did put a bigger stator/alternator the weight would have be higher.
      In fact the dry unit weight is 4lb light on the 14500TFc vs 12000DF, go figure.
