Machinists can do magical work. I wish I had that skill and the tools. Your arbor mods are going to serve you well.

I hear ya bud...! Benchtop lathes & milling machines really dont cost all that much when considering all they are capable of... Ive seen a few that are cnc ready - now how cool would that be lol I could be mass producing some serious bushcraft gear...

I'm sure u know this by now especially it being some time ago that u shot this but Ned does s tutorial on skylighter to mod the press & make a wood base. Watching these vids has my gears going on how I might do 1 for myself in the distant future. I think they're the way to go to speed up the process a bit & being able to apply a given amount of pressure on pressed comps. I mean 1 of those big hydraulic presses is the way to go but lacking a the shop, space to do it in, & the ever essential green backs. I'll go with the smaller version. That I see a lot of u guys working with. After I get some hand ramming in. Thanks for sharing. Would love to hear what ur thoughts are on things.

It helps with quick set up and ratcheting

Weld a base plate to the arbor press to stabilize it. Lengthen the handle bar. Impressed by the scooter wheel. Nice grip

Good job on the mod, the scooter wheel is great :) Arbor presses are really handy, i use mine for all kinds of stuff. I`d be tempted to partially thread the ends of some steel rod/bar for the stand. Dont forget to add a polycarbonate blast shield for safety. On a different topic i`d be interested to know how much one of your nept rocket tubes weighs in grams ;)

Thanks man!!! I did mount it on some all thread rod which mounts to a 1/2" steel plate - so far it seems to work & plenty stable. I do have 1/2" polycarbonate for a blast sheild approx 12" x 10" that will be used - I will make some quick detatch type brackets for mounting that release with a pin. I waited to reply so i could weigh the nept tubes - the bag of 25 I weighed varied from 63g upto 67g - it would great if all were consistant but a few grams shouldnt make a huge difference with a high powered rocket motor. I still havent built any - looking to make my own bp rocket tooling

How to make it such that you can press the handle as hard as you like and yet the press won't fall off the table?

I made a stand using threaded rod that extends up from a 1/2" thick plate steel. It raised the entire press about 10" I then have it clamped to the table.

Raise and lower the ram to position it, then use the ratcheting lever to press.
