    So, you led a team of "dots" who were undercutting the wages of US citizens? Indeed, each of those employees probably replaced a formerly employed US programmer. The company you worked for probably asked "why are we paying an American wage when we can hire a Bangladeshi?

    In my case, I took legal action against my former employer for wrong termination under the protected characteristic of disability. They wanted me to returned to the office 2 months prior my doctors recommendation and I refused to return to work because I was not medical cleared. Then They laid me off 3 days later after returning from disability.

    Tech won't recover anytime soon. The US updated section 174 of the tax code in 2024 which means companies can no longer write off software engineering as an R&D expense. This means companies have to be lean and mean about it.

    • @leonchen89

      Thanks to Trump for that

    • @steve01010
      @steve01010 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That was passed and implemented in 2022. The 2024 update actually repeals the R&D 5-year amortization requirement (they could still write it off, but over the course of 5 years) and the change is retroactive back to 2022, which means companies can go back and write those off immediately, just like they used to. I think what we're seeing now is a downsizing after the big investment into tech during the pandemic.

      is immigration grand because immigration saturated the job market. it now time to become factory worker in middle of no where. another problem is programers are over paid leading to over supply of trained individuals. programs are worth 30 dollars an hour or 60k a year. they are over paid by factor of 2.

      @@stew6662 immigrants only create job growth they are entrepreneurs. the problem is most immigrants not entrepreneurs. It business owners who create jobs. they one who build the Infrastructure for jobs. that takes time. Like 1 to 3 years or more depending on type of facility. factories or others build do not magically appear. Also it important to note that it can be observed that immigrants can over saturate job markets. In Canada is even worst for stem because most immigrants have degrees. I have watched a video on Canadian that did everything right (he got good grades and had a internship) and applied to 1,000 jobs and still could not land mechanical engineering job. before millennials generation getting a degree in stem was wroth while because the cumulative effects of immigrants had not taken hold. India turn out so many people with engineering degrees that they alone meet all of Europe and Americans stem needs. I have degree in mechanical engineering I was not able to get job in that field. mechanical engineering is harder to do overseas because you need prototyping lab. it not like software engineering where is easy to do at any office building unless you have special kind computers that run your programs on. also the center for immigration studies have note that wage have not risen for stem jobs because of immigration and that is not a labor shortage.

    I did about 4 years of freelance marketing, everything from coding, web design, graphic design, copy, client management, project management... After 2 years of resume renovation and learning to interview through trial and error, I got my first project management contract. I got 3 back to back contracts in 2022 which ended in 2023. My resume looks better then ever with recognizable companies and I've gotten absolutely no contracts since then. I've probably done thousands of applications by now and think it's pretty much hopeless. I've pretty much only been staying afloat by working manual labor jobs. All of the skills and experience I've gained are really paying off :)

I've seen companies put a silo around them, and not "need to know" on almost anything. Corporations are wasting a lot of talent. It sounds like the last place you worked didn’t trust you enough to give you the information you needed to do the job. Top executives are basically looting the corporations even though they know that that might shut them down. Or maybe they think they can have AI replace all the employees and contractors and that they’ll make a much bigger profit. The only problem with that is that it eventually comes around to kick them in the butt because the economy has gone down the toilet. I’ve also heard that CEOs are quitting at a record rate. It is tough out there. Relying on a job is becoming an obsolete concept. I guess, we have to become more entrepreneurial.
    Try to leverage your skills to start a business. If you know how to develop ride share apps, go develop it, and offer better rates. If you know how to make electronic devices, produce them and sell them on your own website, or platforms, like Amazon, Ebay, and others. A lot of people going into business for themselves, and they are offering better products than the big corps.
    This will be possible, because the big corps are running out of investment money, and you have de dollarization which starves these corps of capital. Now, small and medium sized business will have chance to compete. They no longer have a monopoly on anything anymore. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, there was so social media, you only radio stations, television broadcasters, and newspapers. The internet revolutionized communications and commerce.
    There are opportunities out there if you have the education, skills, and have something to offer this world.
