The scene with the "Sommelier" when he's buying weapons is one of my favorites in the whole franchise :) And yes, "fortune favors the bold" is the translation of his tattoo.
Seeing this in theaters back in 2017, that final shot hit _hard._ John Wick was already a legendary movie, and most people knew the seriousness of the hotel rules. You could feel the entire theater holding their breaths, and the shock of it when John decided the rules didn't matter more than his vengeance. But if there was anyone who could break the rules and handle the heat, it was John. We back then didn't know until a few months prior there was even going to be a Chapter 2, so seeing John back on screen after so many years of uncertainty was a treat. Seeing John reaching for the pencil had me downright giddy. Nothing could prepare for how this series evolved, and if you think John was in top form here, you haven't seen anything yet.
I honestly simply never get tired of watching people go through this series of movies for the first time. It's held a very special place in my heart since I saw the first film. The setting/world and characters are utterly badass and interesting, the (albeit very simple) narratives still grip me enough, and John Wick action just changed my viewpoint on "cool movie action" forever. Glad you've been enjoying the movies so far! Hope to see Chapters 3 and 4 soon.
24:20 The 12 statues are the 12 main gods in Greek and Roman mythology. The statue directly behind Santino is Hercules throwing his messenger Lichas to his death after receiving a poisoned shirt. He goes on a rampage before being brought to Olympus and joining the gods. Jon's going against the High Table (made up of 12 seats) by trying to kill Santino. Also, the guy that took care of John's dog is called Charon. That was the boatman that brought the dead to the Underworld. The woman with Santino is called Ares. The war god. There's a lot of mythology in these movies.
Jax seems to be the only reactor who A. Knew John was _trying_ to get to the Continental, not that he just got there by accident, B. Knew John wasn't really trying to kill Cassian, which explains why at certain points in the fight he didn't take an obvious opportunity, and C. Notices all the symbolism in the movie, from the avenging angel wings to the 12 Olympian statues watching a fight between Hercules and Lichian.
Fun fact: after John Wick came out, his reputation as an assassin became so big at the time the video game Payday 2 asked to make John Wick a playable, canon character in the game. Even though the game already came out before the first John Wick, they got permission and added him as a character with his own unique build. His origin story closely aligned him with the movie's story and implied origin + tied him personally to another Payday character. In this movie, as the janitor assassins get the text about John Wick's bounty, you can see behind them the iconic Payday 2 masks in large posters plastered on the wall, specifically Wolf's and Chains' (Chains in the game was said to have served in the Marines with John.) Small details like that really elevate these movies
I wasn't sure how you would feel about these movies, but you surprise me! I love that you would want to help John. Lamby, and the little dragon outfit are so precious! Your sense of humor is delightful. Can't wait for you to see chapter 3!
Surely you will enjoy the third chapter of John Wick where people who are not expected and even more brutal combats will appear. I enjoy seeing your reactions to the MCU and John Wick.
THANK YOU SO MUCH XANADU56! I really appreciate your Super Thanks! ❤️💕 I am overjoyed that you like my MCU and John Wick reactions! Both series have been a joy to watch. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks again ❤️🥳💕🐑
I love that you get most of your question answered right away after asking. It really shows how well you can follow along well enough to make predictions through those questions. This is a great example of why I try not to give anything away for marvel movies but nod in silence and praise your questions. It’s a relief to see how invested you are and this is also a great series. Doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Keep up the great questions, they may be answered.
LMAO! I can always count on Jax to say something unexpected and hilarious! "You should have given him a quarter!" LOLOL! Perfect! Oh, and a round is a cartridge, or shot. Seven rounds is seven shots, then . And I LOVE that Jax is able to find something "delightful" in a gunfight!
the FIRST thought that crossed my mind when you gushed over the sheep dragon costumes was that Lamby MUST get her own dragon costume... you just made my day ❤
The religious and mythological themes in this franchise hit really, REALLY hard. That's one of the best and underrated parts of this franchise - not the insane action, not the cinematography, not even the score. There is a clear, powerful through line of Greek and Roman mythology mixed with Dante's Inferno, and it makes analyzing this series critically in retrospect very satisfying from a thematic perspective.
30:52 "Even the New York pigeons are part of the assassin world!" All of a sudden I envisioned hard-eyed pigeons holding tiny guns and shooting each other while dashing around a fountain in a courtyard. 😆
THANK YOU SO MUCH DUSTIN!!! I really appreciate your Super Thanks!! ❤️😍💖🥳🎉🐑💕 I'm so glad you enjoy my reactions. Lance Reddick is such a great actor. ❤️
@@reactswithjax Of course! It's the least I can do for the hours of entertainment you've already provided. Lance was for sure one of my favorites in the Wick series. Keep up the great content
That line from Winston tho "You stabbed the devil in the back and forced him back into the life that he had just left." In front of a statue of Kali on top of that god I LOVE IT! Kali is a Hindu god often associated with death ad violence, but i believe in that scene there is a double meaning as he was just freed from his marker. Some Hindu sects believe that Kali also gives "moksha" (liberation).
This series is a very tangled web of intrigue. They twist and turn a lot. I love the naive outlook you sometimes have... and I love seeing (good) movies again through fresh eyes.

I haven't seen Interstellar, and it's been on my list! I love Nolan as a director, so I have no doubt the movie is awesome. I don't plan on doing any music reactions. But if that changes I will let you know!
@reactswithjax nice I'll keep an eye out for that interstellar reaction. I love that you genuinely take the time to respond to comments. It's been the highlight of the past few weeks for me. I've been involved in some cool stuff lately and believe me when I say this, I think you're the coolest.
Jax I have seen several people react to these movies. Of all the women who have done so you are 1 of only a couple who weren't constantly turning away. Though to be fair they didn't have Lamby for support lol. Great franchise and they get better and better. I will not spoil anything for you, however I will say that there are more guest stars to enjoy. One of whom put a lot of training time in as well. Even training with Keanu and his team. Stay safe and well and adorable.

Another great reaction lol. Love your attention to detail and noticing the smaller intricacies in the movie, even if you get a couple of names wrong. 😊 I think we saw Lamby less in this one than the last too lol.
All the dog fight scenes were awesome & so much work goes into filming those I love this stunt team lol Keanuu is amazing doing most of his own stunt work seeing him train with the guns is great in behind the scenes
Loved your reaction to How to Train Your Dragon etc, the Pencil scene in this movie is worth the wait! the guy who gives John a tasting (lots of guns and clothes) when he gets to Rome is in Shawn of the Dead, VERY different role um the catacombes is where dead bodies were put so seeing dead bodies is a surprise only cos they are fresh?
This really was a Matrix reunion with the exception of Trinity. Chad Stahelski(director) was Keanu's stunt double in The Matrix and the the stunt coordinator for Matrix Revolution, Lawrence Fishburne the Bowery King of course was Morpheus, the doctor who sewed up John in the first movie was the "Keymaster" in Matrix Revolutions. I loved that you picked up on all the visual allusions in the film. Great Eye for detail! I'd marry you in a heartbeat😍
You just made the best reactor comment I think I have ever heard. At 7:35 John is about to put his gun and gear away. "You should probably keep that. Based on the amount of sequels to this movie." BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm part of that venn diagram of people who love John Wick and How to train your Dragon, I think there are quite a few, especially people with kids. You are so right, John Wick does a great job of continuing the story, It's like Star Wars Original Trilogy in that way. It really helps with continuity of story when they do that. The reveals throughout these movies of the layers and complexity of the assassin guild are wild and really amp up tension. So subtle at times, blatant at others, but always scary. It also makes you understand why someone would follow rules, even if they don't want to. Wonderful reaction as always, thank you for bringing light into my day. Have a good one.
"You got some dessert sir" That was a good one-liner! You could have also said "Dessert...is served!" when he stabbed that guy lol. Well, another really fun, really entertaining reaction! Regarding one of your earlier questions, a lot of shooting and blood splatter, even some of the stabbings are CGI and Im sure resetting for a scene is probably easier that way Halloween is coming up so I was wondering if you would react to horror movies for the season. I dont know what youve seen but a few great suggestions are: "IT: Chapter One", "It Follows", "Cabin in the Woods", "Don't Breathe", "Barbarian", "Get Out", "The Descent", "Ready or Not" annnnndddd "The Conjuring". All great movies which make for really fun reactions. Im sure you've seen a bunch of these, but there are many great ones to choose from. Well, again, appreciate the great reaction and your fantastic editing as usual. Looking forward to the next one!
I always took the dog not having a name as he didn't want to tell people the name. Even if he does have one. Remember in the first one, Viggo's son (forgot his name) made a deal of "I love dogs" before the break-in. Telling the name is sort of admitting the connection and putting him at risk because if they can't kill John, they'll hurt him through his connections.
This one is a favorite of mine in the franchise. I hope you watch the whole john wick series! Luv lambys dragon outfit!💚 Best reaction to John Wick checking his gun after he loaded it. Nice to see you caught that. Looking forward to the next movie reaction from you. Luv ya Jax ❤💛
32:55 seven rounds means the gun can only hold seven bullets in it before one needs to reload. The 1911 he is given is an old gun, but it’s still a reliable design that influenced almost all modern day handguns. The .45 caliber rounds it fires will generally bring someone down in one shot, but the magazine capacity is usually smaller because of the bigger round.
Great reaction Jax like always, Cant wait for your reaction to John wick 3 and 4 the 3rd one is my favourite and body count keeps increasing each movie in this one he killed 128 and in the first one was 77 the number keeps getting bigger and bigger, Keep up the amazing work
Both you Lamby looks great! (The blue car was not John's, loaner from Aurellio). John had a key for the catacombs, so I guess it was closed at night, but in the morning when it reopens, there will be a sight to see. (Unless a dinner reservation was made).
That scene where Santino fire the grenade laucher... he had an optic on that grenade laucher and he fire at a house... that say everything about Santino! Oh, about the pencil fight, it's even more dangerous now because modern day pencil are made from plastic materials, not wood, so they don't break anymore!
Hey, Jax! Hey, Lamby! ❤❤ Love you both! Great reactions - always! I'm sure you know by now, but just in case, there is ZERO time between when JW2 ends and JW3 starts... another brilliant continuation. Can't wait to see you react to the rest of this series! Btw, I'm one of those How to Train Your Dragon AND John Wick fans! I love seeing the quality and excellence in good movie making - the genre matters less than how the story is shot, told, written, edited,, and the music that stands behind it all. Lots of different ways I get moved from fantastic films. Your reactions always remind me of my first time watching. Thank you, Jax. 😃 You dance so wholesomely in the midst of so many non wholesome experiences - yet you see true value in all of it. Your excitement and smile are always contagious! It's refreshing and appreciated! Peace, hun! Bye Lamby!! 🤗🥰✨
Of course it is poetic that Charon conveys the condemned man to the site of his potential demise. In classical myth Charon is the ferryman who carries the dead across the Styx to the underworld. This is why the tradition of placing coins on the eyes of someone who is to be buried, so the dead has the price of the fare for the ferryman.
I am one of those who is the HTTYD and John Wick. You are a great reactor no matter the movie. What type of tea did you have today? Now someone asked, lol. Excited for the next John Wick and the movies between now and then, especially Guardians 2 next. Be well.
I thought u were the same person behind the channel The Charismatic Voice, you look incredibly alike, you're like a young blond version of her and have somewhat similar accents too and voice. I clicked on your reaction to kung fu panda thinking this was her movie reaction channel but stayed for Jax as you both have amazing reaction content that I enjoy thoroughly. Her channel is about music tho, different subjects but still of my interest. Been binjing ur marvel and animation reactions along with her music reactions too.
27:32 it would’ve been funny when the water fountain shut off you see a bunch of bodies dead on the ground with John & Common still standing with their guns (a parody or comedy movie). 28:52 not someone wanting me dead but I have been on a subway where a major brawl broke out. Two other guys and myself made a wall between innocent people and the fighters. We just let them keep their attention on themselves and not the bystanders till the car stopped and station cops jumped on. That was the last time I rode on a subway and never want to again. 32:31 I love the way he delivers his line about getting him a gun just like Alan Rickman in Die Hard. 33:26 that’s one thing about this series that’s so great is any gun he grabs from someone isn’t necessarily a full clip. Keanu went to a lot of weapons training to make the movie so realistic. If the weapon holds 15 bullets then after the 15th either he drops the clip or throws the gun to look for something else. A lot of action movies don’t focus so much on that. 37:04 he wasn’t always willing to break the rules of the Continental but Santino pushed him over the edge by destroying his house then stabbing him in the back after he did what he wanted. The first three movies take place within a couple weeks and the fourth he gets a little rest but can’t remember the time frame. 38:59 it seems that Winston treats him like a son.
The girl behind Santino as he blows up John's house (and other scenes in the movie) is Ruby Rose, an Australian actor, boxer, presenter. Maybe you recognised her from "Orange is the new black" or maybe "The Doorman".
The scene with the "Sommelier" when he's buying weapons is one of my favorites in the whole franchise :) And yes, "fortune favors the bold" is the translation of his tattoo.
Peter Serafinowicz is the perfect actor for it too.
@@JustLiesNORHe's such a crazy superhero that he even thinks he's a sommelier of weapons.

Booba ?
I've read the pooch at the pound was actually Keanu's dog.
It reminds me soooooo much of the "BUB" that Hugh Jackman seems to say a lot with Wolverine...😅😂
Funny when you said "imagine going on a tour of the catacombs and you see dead ppl"....catacombs is nothing but dead ppl. 🤣🤣🤣

The .45 caliber rounds it fires will generally bring someone down in one shot, but the magazine capacity is usually smaller because of the bigger round.
Watched you review the first and now the second. You laugh is so warming. Great review.
She looks so happy when smiling☺
Nice to have you back
"I wouldn't use that pencil again" 🤣
Great reaction Jax like always, Cant wait for your reaction to John wick 3 and 4 the 3rd one is my favourite and body count keeps increasing each movie in this one he killed 128 and in the first one was 77 the number keeps getting bigger and bigger, Keep up the amazing work
You calling Santino Santiago is so much funnier than you realized. It added to the reaction so much. Fantastic reaction.
Your reaction to the pencil scene was absolute gold
That was a very intense scene! Haha
That "oh" reaction cracked me up.
"I would throw that pencil away" lmao
Great reaction! Three picks up immediately after two! Basically, one big movie!
That scene in the catacombs where John runs out of bullets in his shotgun... So he holds the guy down with his empty shotgun while he reloads👍👍👍
Really? When did that change happen?

One of my Favorite reactions to the first 2 John wick movies so far definitely Will be waiting for the next 2 chapters' reactions.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
Hey, Jax! Peace, hun! Bye Lamby!! 🤗🥰✨
Blue is a great name
That pencil scene is just brutal and I love it 🔥🔥🔥
Because it is supposed to be. :-)
"Holy Mother of the Hulk!" I love that!
Loved your reaction to John Wick 2 Jax.😃 Can't wait to see your reactions to the other 2 cuz they're amazing.
Jax, please prepare for the next movie. It’s gonna be wild 👍
I can't wait for your reaction to Wick 3.
Caution! John Wick 3 and 4 get even more visual. So Lamy should get a blindfold. 🐑
Good to know! 😅
And don't forget your tea. You will need him after the movie. for the best a calm down tea @@reactswithjax 🫖🍵
In regards to Lamby wearing the costume from HTTYD, I love it as I watch all of your videos. I don't just pick and choose. I love your reactions!
Wow! Thank you so much! ❤️🎉🥳
I just can't get over your humor. Love it! 😁🙃😁🙃😁
THANK YOU!! 💖❤️🐑🎉
I am one of those who is the HTTYD and John Wick. You are a great reactor no matter the movie. What type of tea did you have today? Now someone asked, lol. Excited for the next John Wick and the movies between now and then, especially Guardians 2 next. Be well.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my reaction!! Thanks for subscribing! ❤️🥳🐑🎉
Thank you so much!! I've seen tithe Charismatic Voice and her channel/reactions are great! ❤️💖
"Do not go to N.Y." as a New Yorker that made me LMAO,you're reaction was Adorable 😋
Haha! Thank you 💕❤️
I'm here from the Kung Fu Panda reactions and I'm staying for the John wick movies 😭❤😂
I LOVE THAT!!!! 💕🥳❤️🥰😍
Lol I'm a fan of how to train your dragon and john wick, both have amazing sequels
The girl behind Santino as he blows up John's house (and other scenes in the movie) is Ruby Rose, an Australian actor, boxer, presenter. Maybe you recognised her from "Orange is the new black" or maybe "The Doorman".
I love both movies!! A great story/movie is a great story/movie! And that costume is awesome :D
These are my favorite action movies. Thank you for providing sych a wonderful reaction.
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️🐑🎉
