For having only 11k subs you have a very good edited video! Music, editing and your cantor are all top notch. Better than a lot of the half million sub channels even!
Question: when you are reviewing your mix ratio of maggots, worms etc., you are extremely specific and detailed as to how much of each mix is required to achieve an optimal bait presentation, smell etc. How important is it that one achieves the right ratios? Does it matter that much? I seriously don’t know, so I would like to know...thanks.
Question #2- Drag. When fishing for large bottom feeders such as you are what are the best ways to have your drag set at? It would be in the same setup that you are using now with the rods on stands waiting for a bite. You said you are using mono here which makes sense.
Hi Jamie well that goes to show that things that people know are ‘right’ are often wrong, dead wrong, I often think fish come to the plop of the feeder but don’t attack it. On occasion I have tried a longer hooklength , floating maggots, soft groundbait , popped up baits etc and have been amazed at what has happened. Ok it does not always work but I try to make things happen instead of staring at a motionless tip. Once a floating caster in a bait band on a 4 ins hooklength was deadly in conjunction with a lighter hook. As I tell people there is very little cast in stone in fishing. Regards Bill
Thanks for that Bill! Yeah you don't often see the top lads just sitting there do you, always making changes and tweaks :)
Another top class informative video Jamie, your videos are always brilliantly produced and deserve a much bigger audience
Hello Jamie.
The angler who is always thinking, changing and tweaking their presentation will always get the most out of their peg. I did something similar a few times now and popped it up on the method but hitting the clip so my feeder was definitely losing most if not all of its contents in 6 foot of water and the rod just kept being dragged around where I had sat for 2 hours myself thinking my peg was devoid of fish. Great upload buddy! 👍
Thanks Neil! That's a great technique mate I've heard of some of the Carp lads doing a similar thing. Where they Carp you were catching?
Nice tip gaffer. I love short feeder on there it got me some proper nets of fish. Great video again J.
Another great informative video Jamie .... keep them coming.
Thanks Mark and thanks for watching mate!
Great video and tips as always Jamie...thanks for sharing
No problem mate and thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this. A method well worth trying.
Had an iffy day today I will try this next time it happens. Thanks.
Hi Jamie I went fishing Sunday but to embarrassing to talk about lol. But great tip video and and loads of comments on different ways, on catch fishing and patreon tv. Like I said there’s that many different ways, in fact you learn each other, good luck on your next 2 matches.
Thanks Anthony for watching especially on both channels mate! Are you out again fishing this coming weekend?
just randomly stumbled into ur channel notice u do a fair bit around my old local area usd to fish alot on the grantham canal but switched to sea fishing when i moved down to plymouth 20 years ago ish

Hahaha nice one mate! You been out fishing yet???
Yes I went with my grandma last week next time I’ll make a video of it for TH-cam

@@ye7424 Well done mate! On a local river?
Yes off a small bridge
Another great video, this is a tip I'm going to use on my local bream water!!!
Thanks Nigel let us know how it goes!
Excellent video as always.
Thanks Sam :)
Mega interesting Jamie, would you ever start off a match in this way if you knew there was a chance of more carp. Or try for carp for first 2 hours and if no luck change to this approach, like you did. If you had a lull in a match would you also revert to this method to put a few silvers in your net, before going back to targeting carp say last hour of the match, say changing to Micro pellet on the method and pellet hookbait. Great tips though, thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍
No problem Matt and thanks for the feed back! In all honesty, on the venues and types of venues I fish you need Carp to win so I'd always start fishing the Method with pellets around the feeder in the 'normal' way and only switch to this method if it wasn't working or if as you say, you were chasing Skimmers on a hard day mate.
I've left the bait out of my feeder for the past two season, much more effective. I usually go with a piece of dynamite corn hair rigged but with a smallest piece of rubber pop up corn on the end of the hair. Seems to work wonders whenever fishing gets tough, it picks up carp but it is just as good for tench and decent bream. If I need to find the carp for weight I usually start putting the corn back into the feeder for two casts, then go to a 2 inch, then 4 inch then 6 inch hooklength if I go more than twenty minutes without a proper pull. It usually finds their feeding level, I believe the fish always move in on the feeder its just a case of finding where they are wanting to grab the bait in the water. That said it only seems to work when there is 4 feet or less on the close or far margins, have struggled many times trying the same method in deeper or middle water.
That sounds like a great approach mate and one that you can tweak. Is that Dynamite sinking corn or semi-buoyant mate?
@@CatchFishingChannel Just works for me more than I think it doesn't but yeah the dynamite ~I just use the tinned corn (I tried the cheap supermarket but it does seem the dyna stuff is much more effective) and then I use a small piece of rubber buoyant corn on the hair with the real corn. It's a pain to rebait every fish but I have done really well in some matches switching to it. Oh yeah, full superstition but a red hair stop makes all the difference as well. I have tested this with yellow or brown stops but red always seems to work better...
@@stoikes Sorry to be the spoiler, but plastic baits (rubber buoyant corn) are banned in matches.
@@stevemccrory9130 Yeah they are banned on most venues i fish mate that's why I was interested. It sounds like what your doing is working mate
@@stevemccrory9130 not in the matches I fish so doesn't spoil my fishing mate...
Jamie, I'm sure you watched the Matrix video on underwater method feeders. It was an eye-opener for all feeder anglers. Did you change from pellet in the method or a mixture of ground bait and pellets? I'm sure the hook bait helped but the method feed would stay in the feeder more.
Yeah I saw it mate! Very interesting and well filmed, a real eye-opener again just like the first one. No I was mainly using groundbait that day mate
Brill video and great tips, cheers.
Thanks Barry mate!
Hello Jamie, can you tell me which shoes manufacturer you use in the movie. You can provide a link to these shoes.
Great vid as always
Thanks mate!
CATCH Fishing Channel you are more than welcome mate. Really helpful, informative, and we appreciate the time and effort you put in, even replying to your watchers is a huge thing in my book, so I thank you sir and keep up the great work you do. Big final for you soon mate, I can feel it in my bones, you put so much in, so very soon you will get so much out too. Thanks Jamie.
@@grumpygrandad1216 Thanks again for watching mate it's greatly appreciated. Are you out fishing this weekend?
CATCH Fishing Channel no not till my next match on weds.
Quick question. Would you use a stiffer hooklength material when you have the hookbait away from the feeder to stop tangles? Reason I ask is that burying the hook prevents tangles where the hooklength wraps around the mainline in flight. Another quality video dude.
Oh yeah Steve I know exactly what you mean. I've never had a problem with that happening but I guess it depends on the hook bait and the type of hook length line your using but yes, if you've had that problem a stiffer hook length material should sort that problem out mate.
@@CatchFishingChannel I've gone to flourocarbon...keeping the same breaking strain and diameter...and it works just as effectively. What is your opinion on flourocarbon as a feeder hooklength material?
When I fish maggots in conjunction with the method. I like to have my bait sitting proud of the feeder. Instead of burying my bait, I put the last layer of pellets over the hooklength, instead of the bait, and pull the line back under my thumb, so the bait is sitting on top, in the middle of the feeder. I've always preferred using live maggots to dead ones for this, as it gives the added attraction of movement. When the consistency of the bottom allows.
Bury a hook in the feeder without any bait on ,and you will catch , go down to a size 20 and you will catch even quicker ,same principal as soft paste,
Might pop to a place, a little open match, just regulars there about 8 of them just a few quid. But last Sunday there was just 4 of us. I normally just fish on me todd. Nothing special. It’s just nice to challenge and use keep nets to see what you’ve caught after . Plus my kit is not special. I would of come over to see you on the Trent but don’t know where about plus it’s might be a bit far and don’t find your section
💪💪👏👏👏
So you didn’t get a bite in the first 2/12 hours because the feeder was buried in the silt with the hook bait. ?
Not on that occasion mate but that has been a problem in the past on some venues. All you could see were clouds and bubbles from the fish digging around for the feed lol
Ive been fishing method at about 50m against far bank but get plagued by line twist after a short while. either just before casting the feeders spins like crazy and twists round top of rod and after casting and trying to tighten up it twists in front of the reel. How do I stop this???
Use a quick change hooklengh bead this is then more inline and the feeder spins on the line like a spinning top but when you hook a fish the swivel comes into play👍
