When you were describing the goofy action scene in 1984, I also took note of the more saturated colors and made me wonder if it was trying to pay homage to the old Wonder Woman TV show. And with her turning the jet invisible, that's obviously a reference to the invisible plane from the Wonder Woman comics, but yeah, it did feel kinda forced in. ^^;
The sequel is what Sam Riami did in Spider-Man 3. It juggles one and two many villains. As for Steve Trevor, it would be better if he was made from clay like Diana.

@@thomasbailey8179 Easy Captain Marvel . At least WW 84 was still entertaining in some bits . Captain Marvel was just plain BORING.......... and BLAND ........
This movie is a solid example of the tone and style DC is going for post Zack Snyder. Out of Aquaman, Shazam, and 1984, I'd say Shazam did the best job being a solid movie in the post Snyderverse JL. With that said, I definitely prefer MoS, BvS, and WW. Then you have Birds of Prey, THE Suicide Squad, and Joker which confuse me on what DC is trying to do with their movies lol. It's like Snyderverse, the Lighthearted films, and the R movies have all been headed by different teams.
17:30 Yeah, where the heck did they go? Those are her main weapons along side the lasso. This is where the *WISHING STONE* could’ve come in handy. They should’ve had a scene where she threatens Maxwell with them and Maxwell tells one of his henchmen to wish them away. I mean, HISHE did something similar, but Maxwell had a henchman wish *her* away instead of her weapons. Anyone else agree?
The story is credited to Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns (Former chief creative officer of DC) while the screenplay is listed as Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, and Dave Callham. I don't know who is responsible for the final script but with writers that had comic- book and superhero experience, I expected something reminiscent of the comics of that time. The messy story however felt more like a 70s comic than one from the 80's when writers were breaking away from the Comic Code Authority to tell more serious stories. The WW84 screenplay also uses the "woke" cliche of screenplay writing where the women are made strong by making the men awful (a choice that makes no one happy). I also agree there was no need to have Steve Trevor possess the body of "Handsome Man" (the character's name in the credits). If the wishing stone allowed giant walls and nuclear weapons to appear out of nowhere, a human being should not have been so complicated. For drama, the stone could have easily ripped him out of time right before his death in the plane making his return to that time more heartbreaking ...

Funny thing is I think this moovies suffers from Geoff Johns decision like most of his projects do. Comparing WW84 and Stargirl gives you that same look, vibe, action and lame funny tone instead of cool action, true philosophy and just an overdose on fake positivity. While WW and Zack's JL show that heroes are heroes by overcoming their fears and flaws, pride and scars, and showing that a heroes greatest strength comes within and fighting a conflict of what is right and fearing to fail, Geoff Johns steps on depth and reduces it to plot points. While Geoff Johns initial ideas can be cool and fantastic his storytelling is really flat and tends to abuse the story for potential fandom throw-ins and just stop before they can blew up. It's like riding a cool rollercoaster at the slowest speed. Stargirl suffers from it the same way: a beginning where every hero dies and a finally where all heroes come out with scratches and real development as long as it doesn't add up to a positive vibe (wild cat killing without feeling some shock or being haunted by the decision is weird). Most Action in Wonder Woman 84, Josstice League, Shazam, Green Lantern and Birds of Prey misses suspense ( + sometimes surprises) that kept me invested. It's like all action is defused to not scare kids away, as if a creepy villain or a menacing fight isn't kid-appropriate. Give us menaces that haunt us and heroes that are struggling to fall for them: give us character and exitement beyond a clowns show.... give us dancers on highwires
Just in general, bear in mind that writing credits doesn't always equate to writers having a free-for-all on the script. Studio executive interference isn't uncommon with scripts like these. Otherwise, points well stated and taken.
You should do a versus video of the first to Terminator movies. Not only because both are amazing films, but also because the second one is turning 30 soon.
Likewise. I've always wanted to use this music in one of my videos for so long now. I figured, now was the right time given the disappointing subject matter. 😊
2 things to make Cheetah work is 1: Make her hate Wonder Woman like you said and 2. Have her 1 wish to be as magnificent as a Cheetah which could be set up as her favourite animal as strong and magnificent. And when she makes the wish the stone turns her into Cheetah. Edit: Also I actually looked forward to this movie cause I knew about her from the Injustice games.
WW1984 aka the movie where lasso of truth can do anything the plot desire. Good video, very cathartic as someone who was very disappointed by this movie. What a disastrous sequel.
100% disagree. Wonder Woman 1984 at least had good moments and fun action. It also felt genuine. Teen Titans Go is a shameless parody with juvenile humor that likes to troll their audience and is for toddlers. You may not like WW84, but it’s still far better than the dumpster fire that is Teen Titans Go.
I'm going to watch it again, but speaking of how messed up Diana's wish was made, Barbara's second wish was becoming more like a cheetah but no cheetahs are hurt or dying as a result. If an innocent man is being held against his will via Steve's spirit for the sake of WW's wish, why aren't cheetahs being hurt as a result of Barbara's second one?
Look I agree that Wonder Woman 1984 did have a lot of bull crap ideas, plot holes, and is not as good as the first one, but I personally in my opinion don't think it was bad. I would say it's a okay film.
I thought the purpose of WW84’s opening scene was to establish how cheating is wrong. Isn’t that what Diana uses to help her let go of Steve towards the end of the movie?
Hey Eric need I to remind you that one of the writers behind WW84 David Callaham also wrote Doom 2005 and is currently co writing Shang Chi and The Spider-Man into the spiderverse sequel which is concerning.
I genuinely agree with you. I didn’t hate the movie in fact I learned a lesson of contentment from it. But it has its flaws and could’ve been much better.

It seems like Patty Jenkins is a good director as long as there are writers and producers who keep her straight, but when left to her own devices... That's when everything fall down, and now she's gonna tackle star wars, buuuut star wars is already dead to me, so I don't care. P.s: wanna know something hilarious? WW84 was the first movie that implemented anti sexual harassment policies, so they production team made themselves into complete hypocrites

This makes me glad I haven't watched any of the DECU movies yet. If this is the best they can do when making a follow-up to a movie starring one of the big three of DC, then I am going to stick to the older DC and the MCU for the time being.
FINALLY! And does anybody know why this movie takes place in the 80s, specifically 1984? I never made a connection between the story and the 80s setting.
I saw an interview where they said they wanted to take her out of the trench and the dark room and gloom and place her in the opposite bright, charismatic, completely opposite setting. Also there were a bunch of albums that year, and the book 1984 as well.
She wasn't confused. They talk about how he came back. And Diana doesn't see Steve. Only WE as an audience see Steve. She sees the guy whose body Steve is possessing. So she isn't confused. She knows what the circumstances and situation is, she just didn't care.

Anyway, thank you for this video, I waited two months and I'm not disappointed at all. You really have a talent to put into words everything that is wrong with a movie.
She means closing off as to having no other relationships in her life besides Steve trevor.
@@ethankleinman1067 Hmm, but I think Wonder Woman also disappeared as a superhero, or maybe she was helping people in secret?
Thanks so much for the kind words buddy. It really means a lot. :)
Yeah that was just another plot hole from this movie. Another reason why it should NOT have taken place in the 80's. It really didn't do anything for the storytelling in the end.
Terrific video as always Eric!
I recommend Wreck-It Ralph VS. Ralph Breaks The Internet for the next Versus video.
The first movie is SOOOOOOOOOO much better. It made me love Rich Moore as an animated film director. Then Ralph Breaks the Internet happened and it ruins every good grace the first film had.
22:21 the writers included Zack Snyder :)
You channel is criminally underrated. You deserve more subscribers.
Thanks buddy. Hopefully one day it will happen.
The more shares and thumbs up's my videos get the more likely my channel will get recommended and promoted by TH-cam's algorithm.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
@@EricCarter12 I have an idea for next versus video. Rampage vs Monster Hunter, they both are based on video games and have humongous creatures.
I was looking forward to this Versus video! Great job! I didn't expect 1984 to get the rating you gave it, but after your description of its events, I can understand why it did. When you were describing the goofy action scene in 1984, I also took note of the more saturated colors and made me wonder if it was trying to pay homage to the old Wonder Woman TV show. And with her turning the jet invisible, that's obviously a reference to the invisible plane from the Wonder Woman comics, but yeah, it did feel kinda forced in. ^^;
Kind of, not kinda.
Basically WW has a lot of ZS influence... WW84 is pure patty
and it really shows
The sequel is what Sam Riami did in Spider-Man 3. It juggles one and two many villains.
As for Steve Trevor, it would be better if he was made from clay like Diana.
I don't understand why Patty didn't have Steve comeback as himself. I mean, when Barbara "wished" to be Cheetah, no reports of cheetahs dying off because her wish fed off of them.
PATTY JENKINS IS DOING STAR WARS?!?!?!
were so screwed.
Yeah man those writers for the first movie deserve all the credit. I thought patty was a great director until ww84. The way all these movies are getting circumcised in the name of identity politics is just only hurting them. No one likes that shit. I’m beyond disappointed how all of these movies are going - dc, marvel, star wars, disney. You can’t escape...
Excellent video. Every point was nailed all the way home. Keep it up bruv💪🏽
Thanks Mackenson. :)
@@thomasbailey8179 Easy Captain Marvel . At least WW 84 was still entertaining in some bits . Captain Marvel was just plain BORING.......... and BLAND ........
@@thomasbailey8179 ww84
This movie is a solid example of the tone and style DC is going for post Zack Snyder. Out of Aquaman, Shazam, and 1984, I'd say Shazam did the best job being a solid movie in the post Snyderverse JL. With that said, I definitely prefer MoS, BvS, and WW. Then you have Birds of Prey, THE Suicide Squad, and Joker which confuse me on what DC is trying to do with their movies lol. It's like Snyderverse, the Lighthearted films, and the R movies have all been headed by different teams.
Man I’ve waited for this video! I loved the first one, absolutely hated the second one!
Same.
Can't wait for the next two versus videos and great video by the way you point out a few things i never thought of
Watching 1984 made me want to rewatch the first one to remind myself how a good movie should make me feel.
Eric Carter is like the Steven Spielberg of TH-cam; classic after classic and getting better every time. 😸
Fun fact, this movie is 10 minutes shorter than avengers infinity war
Good thing I don’t have money
It felt way longer than IW though sooooooo that’s a problem.
@@evan9902 and the fact that the opening action scene with young diana has far more screen time than Godzilla in "Godzilla 2014" and Darth Vader in "A New Hope" is criminal
@@sharkwar4284 totally agree. The movie is way longer than it needs to be.
7:42 😂. This guy ripped into this scene. That scene was hurting my head in the actual movie tho
I liked WW84, but it was a HUGE step down from the first one. The first one is amazing! GREAT video Eric! I loved every single second of it! You deserve so much attention and credit for the stuff you put out. Seriously, you are TOO underrated.... Can't wait for more to come!
Thanks Hamid. It's great to hear from you again buddy. :)
@@EricCarter12 no problem man! I will alwsys try to comment and praise your work whenever you upload it. Hamid I agree I did like ww84 but I loved the first one
Love your videos...I can’t wait to watch your review on the last few episodes of wandavision!
Eric Carter can you do a VS video on "Monster Hunter" VS "Love and Monsters" please?
Yes I would LOVE to see a Vs video on that!
Lol you're gonna be pissed when you see what they did to quicksilver in the wandavision finale
Oh definitely. Cause I was too
I sure as hell was.
10:53 Omg, the nostalgia that hit me when that music started playing!
Likewise. I've always wanted to use this music in one of my videos for so long now.
I figured, now was the right time given the disappointing subject matter. 😊
What are your thoughts on the WandaVision finale?
2 things to make Cheetah work is 1: Make her hate Wonder Woman like you said and 2. Have her 1 wish to be as magnificent as a Cheetah which could be set up as her favourite animal as strong and magnificent. And when she makes the wish the stone turns her into Cheetah.
Edit: Also I actually looked forward to this movie cause I knew about her from the Injustice games.
So pumped to see you have a new video!
Why do people have a problem with Aries that's how he's always been like
WW1984 aka the movie where lasso of truth can do anything the plot desire. Good video, very cathartic as someone who was very disappointed by this movie. What a disastrous sequel.
Totally agreed with this review. Good sequels are rare.
You're expression and feelings about ww84 are exactly what I thought and felt when it saw the film 🎥✌️
"And to go from serious story with light hearted elements to 100% goofy is wrong" littary Teen Titans (2003) to TTG🤦♂️
You hit the nail on the head there. It's always a recipe for disaster.
Batman 89 to Batman and robin
I'm going to watch it again, but speaking of how messed up Diana's wish was made, Barbara's second wish was becoming more like a cheetah but no cheetahs are hurt or dying as a result. If an innocent man is being held against his will via Steve's spirit for the sake of WW's wish, why aren't cheetahs being hurt as a result of Barbara's second one?
Gears Of War 3 music in a Versus video!? (Cole shout happy) WOO! Yeah Baby, Haha.
Thanks for letting me know buddy. We'll see how he does when the movies come out.
I genuinely agree with you. I didn’t hate the movie in fact I learned a lesson of contentment from it. But it has its flaws and could’ve been much better.
Fantastic video Eric. You deserve so much more subscribers.
Thanks buddy. :)
This is probably the best week of my life
Monday: All American 3x07 great episode
Tuesday:The flash 7x01 good episode
Wednesday:Barcelona are in the finals
Thursday:Eric's versus video
Friday:Pokemon journeys part 4 on Netflix
At Barca for life
I would rewatch the first one, but not 1984.
YES finally I have been waiting for this for so long.
WW84 was the first movie that implemented anti sexual harassment policies, so they production team made themselves into complete hypocrites
my reaction when i see the video is 25 mins : OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! like literally almost half an hour of eric carter content?les gooo
Great video as always mate
also, I'm gonna be honest, WandaVision has far better humor and can stay more consistent with its tone, especially with the last two episode (I have seen small clips of the movie on TH-cam to not spend money)
Zack and Patty=Balance Dark and Light
Geoff and Patty=Unbalance Light and Marvel Lightz(geoff)
I wanna see a vs video between wreck it Ralph 1-2
Wonder Woman 2017 action were choreographed by Zack's stunt team.
in WW84 Jenkins replaced his stunt team.
Spider-man 3, the amazing spider-man 2, fantastic beasts crimes of grindelwald, and this movie have so many similarities
Diana's mother in ww: diana is the only child in themyscira!there will be no training for her..
Also her in ww84:watching diana doing gymnastics at incredible heights
Me and my sister watched ww84 and half way though my sister said I am done and she walked out inside because we have a projector in our gazebo I pause the movie and I went inside because I had enough so I agree with you completely
the only thing i liked about this movie was that scene with Lynda carter
Hey Eric, what did you think of the new Flash episode? It’s good to have the show back! :)
Patty Jenkins did not have a clue on what to do with the sequel, she even went to the man incharge of destroying the dceu, aka Geoff Johns for help.
No! Bring the writers back Patty! That’s your chance to redeem Wonder Woman!
I actually give the first film a 9/10, a bit closer to 10.
great review, Eric! also, you're SOOO underrated. hope you'll make more subscribers in the future!
Thanks. :)
This makes me glad I haven't watched any of the DECU movies yet. If this is the best they can do when making a follow-up to a movie starring one of the big three of DC, then I am going to stick to the older DC and the MCU for the time being.
And I love the Transformers revenged of the fallen Game soundtrack you have at the end of the video ....big fan bro

FINALLY! And does anybody know why this movie takes place in the 80s, specifically 1984? I never made a connection between the story and the 80s setting.
I saw an interview where they said they wanted to take her out of the trench and the dark room and gloom and place her in the opposite bright, charismatic, completely opposite setting. Also there were a bunch of albums that year, and the book 1984 as well.
i got so distracted by the Gears of War theme playing in the background lol
Actually she was also confused how steve came back
After realising the truth she recalled her wish
She wasn't confused. They talk about how he came back. And Diana doesn't see Steve. Only WE as an audience see Steve. She sees the guy whose body Steve is possessing.
So she isn't confused. She knows what the circumstances and situation is, she just didn't care.
