    Sam, could you please do a video and accompanying playlist for those who are newly blind and new to using technology to assist them. What are the most basic useful items needed to start making life as normal as possible? You talk about so many items and applications that I don't have a clue where to start. It seems getting a good phone is primary, and possible lighting, but then what? Thank you for all you do

    Hi! Great videos, thank you! I'm super bummed the discount code doesn't work anymore though. The company would certainly benefit from reinstating it, especially when so many visit your channel. Thank you for all the educational information. It helps me understand what difficulties my awesome Dad overcomes every minute of the day. Best wishes!

    Nevermind the lamps, was that a red framed piece of chainlink fence on your dresser?!

      @theblindlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol yes, or well sort of, it’s actually a framed piece of chicken wire!

    Seems like all the stuff that you show on your channel for different products are all very expensive

    Oh, I dream of owning one of those. That floor lamp would definitely help me see my crocheting, especially with dark yarn colors. Hope all is well Sam! 👍🏼 🦯💀

    For me too much concentrated light is back from my eyes so they had a life changer or you could dim the light that would be great for me

    What isCRI color render index, ? Very important in headach and eye strain, 100 is best, below 80 increases eye strain & headache.

    Stela, could you make one with a magnifier? Then I’d be sold.

    Those are nice, but I don’t think I could pay $439 for a lamp that I’ll never be able to change the bulb in. I know LEDs are supposed to last a while, but is it going to last 10+ years with heavy use?

    Great video Sam! They seem like an awesome product. Lighting is probally the low vision tool that I use the most. I could see where each of these lights would have their uses. That floor lamp would be a great addition behind my seat on the couch.

    I just ordered a floor lamp from RNIB a few days ago that’s similar to the Stella one. It has a long arm and 25 different colour/brightness variations. Lighting is the most underrated low vision tool there is imo. My father in law has just been diagnosed with AMD (wet type) and I gave him a big talk on lighting. He was surprised at how much difference it made to his vision. It surprises me how little sighted people understand about lighting but then again it’s the first thing we’re taught when we lose vision or are learning skills as a young visually impaired child.

    Those lamps are Way out of my budget. My issue is I live in a log cabin that has no ceiling lights and I have 3 lamps that's still not enough lighting. I am wondering if using bright striplighting would help. To brighten up the rooms

    Just found this video while looking for undercabinet lighting for low vision.
    They look good, totally out of my budget.
    I bought the Verilux desk lamp.
    Works the same. But affordable.
    Buttons seem to be the issue on both of these products.
    Interested in you comparing the two brands.
    Not everyone can afford a $250 lamp.

    I love this lamp, especially the color options. And frankly the options for style and for charging. I can’t wait to show this to my mom and have her choose. It may be more than one. Great suggestion about using it for playing games! The only option I’m not crazy about is the remote, but that’s because they are hard for mom to learn and are constantly getting moved around by the house gremlins who seem to think it’s hilarious to hide them.

    Sorry but even with only one eye and 75%+ vision loss in it, I can not find $199.00 dollars (for the cheapest) and over $350.00 for the most expensive lamp to be in any reasonably affordable price range for myself or most people. No matter how good it is supposed to be this a ridicules cost!

    Are these lamps part of the niche market you keep bringing up? You would think they would be lower priced.

    I have both the Stella 2 and Stella Go. Like you I have found a million uses for the lights. My eyes get really tired later on the evenings and these lights and variable color temperature really help me to be able to do tasks or hobbies. Really good lights for doing puzzles too. Sam gave me a great idea on an IG post the other day to use the light for cleaning the oven.

    Hey Sam like your videos I’m kind of surprised that Stella went with remote controls for the controls on these lamps with all the home automation and everything it seems the real logical choice would be to use voice control as far as Accessibility is concerned it is so much easier to just ask the light to turn on change the colors dim the colors using your voice additionally no lost remotes no having to replace batteries on the remotes it just has a much better way to go
    Time is stellar look at this and improve and move into the more modern technology just saying

    • @penglingwhisperer3382
      @penglingwhisperer3382 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately voice control is not accessible for many people with speaking disabilities. I’m visually impaired and autistic. I’m non-verbal a lot so the increase in tech becoming voice controlled is making it very hard for me to find tech I can use well. Ideally they need both remote control and voice control to keep things as accessible for as many as possible.

    • @InspiredInsights4U
      @InspiredInsights4U 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@penglingwhisperer3382 I understand the issue and of course agree that voice control isn’t for everybody but I do believe home automation is there so many other ways of activating devices besides your voice certainly thing credible number of various types of motion switches tactile switches and everything else make this possible for disabilities of all types unfortunate for you and others with the same type of condition you have voice control doesn’t work but for mini it has been a lifesaver being able to cook and do things in my house using my voice has changed my life completely like you I have two conditions one being a location other is a condition called CMT which is a peripheral neuropathy that basically illuminates my sense of touch so tactile buttons for me really do very little

    Sam I love the lamps, the price not so much. Most low vision guys don't have a lot of cash on hand. I'm sure competition will drive prices down if these lamps become popular. Thanks for the video.
