Astarion - Assist Romantic Companion Lines | Baldur's Gate 3

- Some of these lines seem to be difficult to trigger. Specifically in the Buff and Heal categories they only happen with a touch or melee spell and they have to be standing far enough away from the target that they have time to speak while running over. Even then when lines do play they seem to all be the neutral relations lines, not these really sweet ones. Hopefully its a bug that will be fixed some day.

Similarly the Help Immobilized and Downed lines seem to sometimes not play from the right relations category either. (In my current game a romanced Astarion gives neutral lines, and my Tav gives lines as if he's in love with everyone in the camp.)
This is as of yet speculative and untested but the speak-to lines at the end of the video are likely only going to be heard in an Origin run, since a controlled companion can't just start a conversation with a Tav/Durge PC character by clicking. But, I figure that one could imagine that their inner thoughts might be similar no matter the romantic partner c:

I absolutely agree. Though I would also prefer the less sweet options to my standard alarm. "up you get. come on up you get. there is life in you yet. let's go" feels like someone is interested in whether I get up or not.

The conclusion I've reached is that I'm going to switch Astarion to a healer ASAP
20 seconds in and I just fuckin barked out laughing at "Let's keep you cute"! my previous playthrough was one where I flipped everyone's classes. so Astarion was a cleric, Gale was a fighter, Karlach was a warlock, Lae'zel was a wizard, Shadowheart was a barbarian, and Wyll was a rogue.
Clericstarion was *such* the stereotypical "healer who's mad at you for getting yourself hurt". XD
side note, "you'll be free soon" reaaaaallly twisted something in my stomach. ooh

A lot of people saying they didn't hear it, don't worry, make a sorcerer and they will be always having to shout out to heal or alarm you about danger 😂😂😂
It also helps when you dump constitution, because hit points are for peasants
Wizards have d6 hit dice if you want to be on deaths door every battle
My sorcerer ended up being the tank of the party with near equal health to Lae'zel. 😂

Tav panics when Astarion is low-life if you've romanced him, and the other way around too… I shout internally every time I hear Astarion screaming for my Tav to not die. 😢

the silliest thing is hearing these voice lines here, and then playing dark urge and astarion helping my tav and saying “UGH not again”
The Dark Urge says “ Ill kiss it better later” when healing Star in Act 3

Ugh, the best line I ever heard from Astarion was his Dark Urge special 'Oh no my sweet bloodthirsty friend!' when Durge was about to fall or fell in battle... Sad that I have never heard any of these in my 3 runs romancing him lol. Maybe 4th or 5th time's the charm?
The first "This should help" literally took my breath away
He sounds so confident in most of them, but the "downed help" ones sound so scared
i think one of my favorite things is to see, or rather hear, the difference between being in a sticky situation in combat and out of combat : out of combat he's playful about it rather than in combat he takes it so seriously.

I think one of my favorite line is "Death doesn't become you." I don't really know why, but it is.
Also, I've heard a couple of them yet since, similar as to a lot of other people, my healer/buffer is Shadowheart (or Wyll or Halsin, I made them able to do the job too in case i need them to be there for certain quests and well, I still want them to be useful lmao).
I crack up at the line because it reminds me of the movie "death becomes her" 😂. Maybe it is a reference.

if a character is far away and needs to run towards an ally to heal/help them then they might say something on their way there. I've heard my tav say "I'll kiss it better later" when he ran over to heal wyll.

I don't recall getting any of these and currently romancing him. I wish they would fix them. It sucks when my Tav helped him kill Cazador and he claims to love them and he still on occasion says, "Don't touch me!" I just want to say back, "Really? Ouch."
Same! Are you on ps5? I feel like a lot of the companion dialogue doesn't trigger, especially in act 3
To be fair him saying that is not him being angry at Tav, it's more of an inside joke for the player 😆.
When you choose to talk to him / play as him you have to as a player click on him or his icon, thats why he keeps saying it even later in the story.
Like "are you well? Stop spamming that poor button and stop bothering my poor icon".
At least thats what I get from that interaction, its kinda funny if you ask me.
