The thought of retirement makes me cry. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It's so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings to fall back on.
Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through job or investment.Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.
I completely agree; I am in my mid 40s, approaching retirement, and have approximately over million dollars in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, the Fin-advisor can only be neglected, not rejected. Just do your due diligence to identify a fiduciary one.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you've got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn't mind a recommendation.
I've experimented with a few over the past years, but l've stuck with Kathie daisy bosco for about three years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She's quite known in her field, look her up.
I want you girls to know how delighted I am when you have a new video. I absolutely adore you both in your honesty in all aspects of your life there; I hope you continue this style of content in communicating with us out here. Love your style and yes Linda, I love your new hairstyle, yay!!! It’s quite smart. ❤
The Mom is very lucky to have a wonderful daughter who takes good care over her, most kids would just say no way you look after yourself, you waisted all your money it’s your problem. This daughter is one in a million.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was really hard to see her painted in a corner, which she admits she was. And I couldn't have helped her without her letting me. Wishing you a happy holidays!
I feel so carried away by my feelings seeing you both seem to be living happily. May this continue. For your health, in Bali the largest health center will be opened soon. And located in Sanur with international standards and also doctors from various countries.Hopefully this information will help you in living a healthy life and treatment🙏.
Thanks for a more realistic view of living in Bali. Love you and your Mom's relationship. Kudos to your Mom! I'm sure it took a lot of trust and courage for such a huge move. Thanks to her honesty about spending and consuming. In the US we're trained to be consumers. Sadly, I'm in the same boat at 63. I plan to spend a month or 2 in Bali in 2025 so your videos have been quite helpful😊
My neighbour is an Indonesian doctor in Sanglah hospital. She showed me Indonesian made vitamin supplement with the same quality that cost about half the price that I usually paid for imported ones.
A Doctor will tell you, always use food as a vitamin source and only take a supplement if you actually need it. Eating 20 to 30 different varieties of plants, like fruits, vegetables, and herbs will feed those gut microbes. Only thing that I know of that you can't get from food is Ginko Biloba for memory function. All that foods you have delivered looks so fresh, not like the stuff you get at the Supermarket, particularly Aldi.
Hello from CA. Thanks 4 the wonderful video on your eating habits & sourcing local, organic food. What's the difference in regular coconut vs. electrolyte coconut? Heat still gets 2 get 2 me & found A/C helped me the most, besides copious amounts of water & tabs. People may consume certain things out of habit, without realizing it, esp with Amazon delivering in hours. I miss the wonderful, affordable massages in Indonesia with friendly, smiling people and conversations with locals. Your internet is very reasonable. Do you have a stable internet connection? Menjalani kehidupan yang baik(living the good life in Indonesian.)
Hello Liz :) Great question about coconut water. I actually found out one of the reasons why I was getting migraines at age 49 plus was because I lacked sodium...and not just regular salt but it's been proven Himalayan salt is actually the key to the electrolytes. Even though coconut water has electrolytes in in, adding Himalayan salt which has trace minerals (like iron) gives the body the extra kick it needs especially when you lose water (example: sweating in this humidity). Of course I'm not a doctor and not telling anyone to go buy Himalayan salt (people have dietary restrictions) but for me, the salt with minerals (added to coconut water) helps the your body absorb fluids more efficiently, so you're getting rehydrated faster and stays in the body a lot longer. The other ingredient in the electrolyte juice is lemon juice. Sorry for the long-winded answer. Then the other question was the internet. We have Global Extreme which is pretty fast. I've had others, and Global is top notch, very little disruption (once every 5 months a few hours) and they are fast to fix anything...plus mom and I share the wifi together so we don't have that cost in her budget (since I already pay for it $24 a month). Thank you for your kindness. Cheers to you!
@@retiredlifeinBali yes I have also used Himalayan Salt and very effective and for more than just headaches. Worth the extra cost, use for many purposes. Showing the labels in English at the health food store was helpful as language barriers can be impediment for the little details of living but does not seem to be an issue there as you have also shown in past videos. Thanks again.
what is a Stay Visa? ALSO i love your mom! "I love consuming!" she is so real. I am 63 and just beginning to look at places to retire. I have looked at Mysore, India and Bali and few other places. I have seen videos about how Bali USED to be affordable but now the cost of living has really gone up.
Hi Bobby ;) thanks for your comments, yes, finding a place that feels like home will take some time. Indonesia considers a non-visitor visa (or non tourist visa) a stay visa. There are so many kinds of stay visas though and they change almost every month. It gets kind of confusing, hence why I need a visa agent. Yes, the cost of living has increased, but not a lot...the government needs to keep some of the basics low for the locals as their monthly income isn't a lot. The increases are like imported items - taxing higher for imports.
The costs you spend are in accordance with your lifestyle, there are many choices for a frugal yet quality life in Bali, one of which is shopping for basic necessities at traditional markets and cooking your own food at home...
It was interesting hearing about your healthy lifestyle choices and consumerism ways. Was it hard to find a place for your mum? I would imagine a lot of people rent yearly, but only stay for a few months at a time and travel onwards etc. It costs a fair amount to get out of Australia so having a good second home with access to greater east Asia would be good.
Thank you for your comment. One of the reasons why my mom moved here is that I heard through word of mouth the house next door to me was becoming available in a few months, which was one of the main triggers that convinced my mom to move here. So, I got lucky to stay in the community to make sure I'm in the know. :)
@@retiredlifeinBaliYou can get bokashi in almost every shop in Bali, its really good and multipurpose, all natural ingredients made by pak oles,my neighbor in my village in the mountain in North Bali 😊
One more question please? I noticed a lot of Aussies have also settled in Bali, I’m also from Australia. But what I want to ask is they suddenly find themselves helping locals who shall we say”less fortunate “. I don’t like using that term . But if they have the means then they do as much as they can. Eg, helping individuals with medicines and local school children even building homes? Have you been inclined to help the locals in anyway. Some sections are very poor! Thanks
I'm living in Bali more then 15 years and have never been able to live on this kind of budget. Don't believe everything you hear on TH-cam. Even though there are people who manage to live on that budget. In this example the salaries for 2 workers that you are obliged to hire as retirees are missing. Also obligatory health insurance is missing. You will not be able to find a decent house for 500$.
Hi Doris, I really appreciate another perspective.I agree you can't always believe what you hear on TH-cam. But other than physically posting a photo of our yearly contract for mom's house, or my contract for my house, you have to take our word for it. Yes that rent is $500 a month USD ($6,000 a year USD - or 97,000,000 rupiah) and it does exist. Mom doesn't live in a high end villa with a pool. She lives in a 2 bedroom 2 bath bungalow. Also, your comment about mandatory 2 people, please advise where this is written. My Mom and I each do have a maid and I have a pool cleaner. If one lives in an apartment and isn't hiring a pool cleaner, how do you account for a second employee? So the reasoning of 2 people goes out the window for those living in a apartment. Health Insurance is different for everyone. It's not a one size fits all. Mom still pays her Medicare payment in the US. I am not an insurance agent so I'm not going to quote on prices. Wishing you all the best!
@retiredlifeinBali Hi xxx About employees you have to read the requirements for the visa. I don't make the rules, it's the government. About housing I wrote that I know people living on that budget. But housing prices skyrocket because of videos like this. About health care. If you need to go to the hospital you need to pay before they do something. So better have a good health insurance. And medical care is more then double then in Europe. It's my experience sitting in the hospital watching people in pain until finally I payed for someone I didn't even knew.
With all respect I have not once had to show proof of employment for my b211, d12 or d1 visas in the 6 years I’ve lived here. The requirement is passport, house contract and $2k in the bank.
