As someone from Belgium, which is a member state of the European Union. I have to say we are in a somewhat similar mindset now. The USA was for a long time seen as a country we somewhat looked up to. And obviously a close friend. But the last few years... I feel like people here are becoming more and more US-skeptic and outright US-hating. People here increasingly feel attacked by the new US administration. And this is shocking considering when I grew up, we all looked up to the USA. And Trump wants to introduce tarifs onto EU goods too. And honestly, I don't think Americans truly realize how many bridges with what are supposed to be friends are being burnt right now.
For what reason ? to enrich oligarch ? Corporation ? this is what make no sense to me. Canada will suffer and USA too, but the numbers of allies USA have will drop.

And if you're "country" is able to stand on its own two legs with us constantly subsidizing your existence then we promise not to annex you...probally...maybe.
If a country doesn’t believe in paying for its defense maybe it doesn’t deserve to exist. Your country is one of the bottom four in refusing to pay its NATO dues. Your armed forces have decayed into nothingness. Your freeloading, kumbayah leader lied when he stated he would address these things. There comes a point where someone has to say enough is enough with this b.s. and Trump just did.
@@jonathonfrazier6622 A trade deficit (which Trump does not even seem to be able to properly estimate) is not subsidizing. The US buys more goods from Canada than Canada buys from the US, that's just it. And most of this deficit comes from the US buying Canada's crude oil, which the US needs to work their refineries, since most of the crude oil the US produces cannot be refined by the vast majority of their own refineries. These tariffs are an idiotic measure only implemented to serve Donald's oversized ego, and they will hurt the US more than it will hurt anyone else.
There are many of us Americans who are so happy to see Canada stand their ground. You may have noticed, here people are bowing down. Please hang in there. Love to you and yours.

I'm old enough to remember the free trade debates during the 1980s. The pro-free-trade side managed to win the political struggle, although they were never a majority. I think most Canadians now deeply regret the free trade agreement with the USA. Even if the USA were to reverse these tariffs, the damage is done. The USA has shown itself to be an unreliable partner, and will never be trusted again. Yesterday I bought groceries, and was very careful not to buy any US products. I think everyone in the store was doing the same. Already, retailers are helpfully putting maple leaf stickers on products made in Canada. The oranges I bought were from South Africa, the tangerines from Morocco, the strawberries from Mexico. I think the US is going to be shocked over the next few months at how their exports to Canada, Mexico and China are going to collapse, and it won't be because of retaliatory tariffs, it will be because of the anger of the people of these countries.
Haha, same here, I recently moved back to Mexico from the US and when I went to the supermarket today I kept checking the labels of products to see where they were made and to avoid the ones from the US, not because I dislike them but because of the tariffs. 😅
Totally agree! I think the power of social media is a story not getting much attention with regards to the response of Canadians to the Tariff's. I'm seeing millions join facebook groups informing folks on products that are Canadian. The ability for consumers to organize and respond to this is Operation Maple Warp Speed :) One silver lining is I haven't seen all Canadian's this united in decades. I've already canceled going to a work conference in the US and a vacation to New York.

@heythere4871 What drugs? Like the 19kg’s caught by US Customs coming from Canada over the course of a year, compared to Mexico’s 9600kg’s? Which we just spent over $1 billion on to stop anyway, and still got these 25% tariffs slapped on us, having been told by the Cheeto in Chief himself that there was nothing we could do to stop it? You think he did this to us, and to YOU, over a few freezer bags worth of drugs? Not to mention they’re flowing the other direction as well at a similar rate. This has nothing to do with the border, it never has.
I live in Canada. It is very unfortunate that Trump has enacted tariffs. If Canada plays this right, we can come out of this way stronger than before. We have many resources that many other countries need. We have to establish new trade routs and trade agreements. Our oil, natural gas and precious metals, among other things, can be sold to other markets. Unfortunately it will be more expensive and our productivity will drop, but that is our best bet I think, as of right now. Trump has made very clear that the United States is no longer a reliable trading partner and until the United States repairs the relations, we must explore other markets.
I think I'm not the only Canadian who does not want to go back to the status quo again just because the U.S. decides to stop being a bully for awhile... NO. I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back and the faster we can detach our trading with them so that it's a small to moderate amount, THE BETTER. They are not to be trusted and they break every agreement they make now....

Mexican here. The sentiment is the same as in Canada or it may be even worst here. Mexico is the biggest trade partner in the US so these tariffs will hurt us the most and obviously we are sad and worried about what will happen. Not to mention the threat of invasion from the US. It is very discouraging that many americans think that all of their problems come from their neighbors they do not realize how fortunate and privilege we north americans have been throughout history. We have been good neighbors for the most part, look at Europe, Africa or even Asia, for many years they have had conflicts and wars but here in North America we have had it easy. And even if the tarifss do not happen, the trust and relationship is broken. Trump did not only divided The United States but now it has also divided North America.

Hearing the Star-Spangled Banner getting booed, to then hearing the cheer of the crowd and all of them joining in for Ô Canada at that Ottawa Senators game, gave me a big sense of pride in being Canadian. It's good to see a whole lot of Canadians being united in this.
Your points are very valid Dan. When your best friend turns into a bully and punches you in the face, what are you supposed to do, play victim and rollover and expect the next punch. Fortunately Canadians will stick together, stand up and fight for our sovereignty dignity and freedom from tyranny.
It's less of your friend turning into a bully and more of your friend realizing you've been taking a ten out of his wallet every time you come over and demanding repayment.

And considering Canada is the largest nation of the 32 member states of nato, everyone should question why isn’t Canada spending what it said especially considering you have more land sea and air to defend for the alliance. How’s that for you Lewis Duffy
@ I don’t think you understand. Canada sells Alberta heavy oil to the USA at a huge discount to world prices and somehow you see it as theft on Canada’s part. Your refineries are set up to distillate heavy oil products which America could also purchase from other countries at a higher cost as there is little available in the USA itself. America has lots of light sweet crude and not enough refinery capacity to distillate it. Does it not make economic sense to import products at the best available price which Canada has been happy to sell to you for many for years. Buying a product or service from Canada is a goods transaction only and does not mean you are subsidizing the country.
I hate that people didn’t take this MAGA madness more seriously. The US has been in grave danger since his first term! As a gay Mexican (also US Citizen) I’m scared and worried. Canadians have to understand that regardless of how close you may be culturally with another country. You're still like that... Another country. So folks gotta be able to stand on their own feet. I think that Canada is way too dependant on the USA. Like extremely dependant. And it's logical, considering geographics. But I think it went too far. And it works. As long as the two countries go buddy together. But when things go wrong, it quickly shows how being too dependant is a bad thing. Canada needs to diversify its import and export markets. Obviously the USA will remain the biggest economic partner. But Canada needs more backups behind the door in order to make sure it survives economically when things go wrong.
You are Forgetting something, Trump broke the agreement with USMCA, and us Canadians have been trading with USA for over 80 years FREE trade, US buys more because they are 10X bigger than us. Every country in the world does not have every resource at their feet, so Trade is necessary, Most of the world envy's our trade partnership, but since Trump Broke the Agreement of USMCA with tariffs, and now the EU, UK, He is turning the USA into a lone Country, he is divided everybody, same way he divided the USA
We are dependant but so are you or you wouldn't be buying anything from us. But don't worry we'll lose that dependancy ASAP. You can get the products we sell to you elsewhere. Bye bye discounted oil, lumber, potash, and many other things. I think China has potash but they're they're tariffed too. Oh wait Russia has potash too and Belarus. Good luck with them. By the way noone else has it and your farmers can't grow food without it. No dependency there.
That is so true on the dependency. And this is a wake up call for sure. Canada needs to invest in its infrastructure, including building out pipelines to both coasts, refineries, rail, ports, etc... to diversify. But the rhectoric around subsidies, and trade deficit is so wrong. Canada has population of 40 million people, and we import over $400 billion USD of US goods. The US with 350 million, import $500 billion, so per capita, it's not even close. And most of the difference is the fact that you're importing in the raw materials, namely oil, which the US gets a steep discount as there's not another buyer. While it's going to take a few years, once Canada builds out the infrastructure and start to sell it's oil to Europe and Asia, the discount will go away and US consumers will pay a lot more, tariff or not. US will consumes more than it produces ... even the most optimistic projections on frackin ,the US only has 7-10 years worth of reserves at current consumption.
What are you talking about???? Trump brokered the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico during his 1st presidency. Now he has issue with it??? Open your eyes. Remember when he told his supporters that day 1 he'd lower prices - now prices are about to skyrocket across all sectors of our economy. In addition, Musk and his team have bullied their way into the federal payment system. They don't have clearance for this. WTF!!!
Canada is fighting a trade war with just one country. The USA is fighting it on many fronts all at the same time. That is very bad war strategy and why the US will lose.

You are right, how do we come back from this? Something is broken now beyond repair!! Not all Americans voted for Trump but enough of them voted him into power. Thank You America!
The disgrace is the number of Americans who did not vote. What we saw was the misogyny in the USA. Misogyny and racism. Hispanics moved to Trump because of misogyny. Muslims did not vote for Biden because of Gaza. He got more black votes and women than he did in 2016. Women lost their right to bodily autonomy and they did not care. For whites, his special sauce was hate. He told them he would punish those they hate. People of color, democrats, liberals. And they love him for it. How did it happen? Grievance. Social media. A failing mainstream media. Courts that bent to his will. Russian disinformation. Greed. People are so easily led, so easily fooled. America is a cautionary tale. Learn from it.
Sometimes you have to realize that your relationships with family members have changed and it is now toxic and harmful to you. Then it is better to separate your lives and go forth from there. And yet we are not alone - Mexico, Panama, Greenland and even the EU countries (especially the Commonwealth countries) are having similar feelings and seem to have our backs. The future will tell if that is true. No matter the outcome short/long term, there is no going back to the prior relationship.
As an American, I fully support Canada taking whatever steps they deem necessary to respond to this unprovoked act of aggression! Here is a list of companies I suggest every Canadian boycott: Tesla, Amazon, Facebook, any American auto manufacturer, McDonald's, Lowe's, Target, Uline. All are big donors to the Orange Menace!
Seems Trump wants to tariff the whole world. I'd say let them pay higher prices on everything. It's time for us to pursue new relationships and cut ties. Also if we're using the fraternal analogy, Canada would definitely be the more rational older brother!
I WOULD BE CURIOUS TO SEE THE CANADIANS WHO WERE PROUD TO SEE TRUMP IN POWER IN NOVEMBER AND TODAY THEY ARE PROBABLY GOING TO LOSE THEIR JOBS BECAUSE OF TRUMP.
I'm in Pennsylvania, no one is laughing about this threat to Canada. I believe it stems from Trump's personal hatred of Trudeau who he sees as younger, more eloquent, physically stronger, it's the same with Macron in France. Trump is not only a psychopath but a person who only understands physical things like walls and golf courses and how good looking a man or woman is or isn't. He needs to be dealt with at the level of a small child. At least half the US is really on edge. I cannot imagine the US declaring war on Canada but even the suggestion is unforgivable.
So let's say he decides to launch an invasion (he's crazy enough...) What do you think Americans would do. I know some are all-in with him doing so but what do you think would happen in the U.S. if he did so?
I think it's way more serious. He thinks expanding US borders will give him the legitimacy he seeks and a spot on Mount Rushmore. It's about exerting his power over all of North America and Greenland, and securing his legacy.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. As an 1st generation American, I am deeply saddened by this turn in my country. You have every right to be angry, hurt and mistrustful. You have every right to protect what is yours. I will do what I can as a US citizen to try to stem the tide of this madness. That is my commitment to you my Canadian friends.
Although I agree with you, I ask you to imagine that you are in a school yard and you are being bullied by one other much larger student. Now imagine that everyone around the bully is watching and doing nothing, saying nothing to help you. That is what is happening now to Canada. Trump is the bully. American corporations are saying nothing against it for fear of being bullied themselves. Listen to all the other republicans: Crickets. They are also afraid to speak up. The truth is that many if not most US Americans couldn't care less about Canada and Mexico. Even the democrats aren't saying much about what Frump is doing. They're still trying to figure out how they could possibly have lost to this idiot. So yes, I do hold ALL US Americans somewhat to blame, it's just some more than others. You know what happens under fascism: if they aren't coming for you, you say nothing. When they do come after you, it's too late. Now having said all that, the pip squeek in the school yard actually has a lot of friends. Maybe the friends aren't as big as the bully, buy he has a lot of them. Most of those friends really really really don't like bullies. As someone else said, Canada is not alone. The USA is alone. It will not end well for the USA. In the future we may well realize that this was the best thing that ever happened to Canada. I haven't seen Canadians this united since 1972.
Western Washington resident here. Your country is beautiful. During our big road trip up through the Yukon. My wife and I were blown away how clean your country was compared to the US. Your tax dollars are very well spent, and it shows. Every rest stop was spotless clean. Street signs are perfect. Trails are well kept. When we crossed over into Alaska, we were welcomed with garbage on the sides of the roads, bullet holes in road signs and dirty rest stops...America is in big trouble. And the small brains here have this ridiculous belief of American exceptionalism. I know better. I stand with you.
As a Canadian who lived in the US for 10 years, I have especially conflicting feelings about this. I am so thoroughly disgusted by the way the US is treating Canada, but at the same time some of my best friends are Americans and they treat me very well. It is very hard to dissociate a government from its people.
Hi Dutchie, I am with Canada. We Europeans feel betrayed as well and we got your back. We have never forgotten the fact that Canadiens libarated us from Hitler. We owe you one.
The Big Orange Head is a bully, pure and simple. The only way to deal effectively with a bully is by standing up to him, and not backing down. This tariff is uniting a country that, frankly, has been very distracted lately. The U.S. will be surprised by the force of Canadian pushback. The gloves are coming off now. The scrappy hockey player in every Canuck is coming out. We didn't start this fight, but we'll finish it off, eh?
It is Justin who said we are a post-nationalist country with no identity, now the same Letists that voted for him will jump on the Nationalist bandwagon. LMAO! How quickly you become what you hate. Prepare for ugly patriotism that is motivated by hate and not love.
To be honest, I think of how we were Storm Troops in WWI because we fought to the end and through circumstances that seemed impossible. We never lost a battle in the last 100 days of that war. The Nazis always knew there was going to be a very hard battle if the Canadians were there. Many sacrificed all for their country. I figure the very least I can do is to remember their fighting spirit and give it my all in defending what they gave their lives to preserve.
There is also the issue of foot dragging on reaching the 2% of GDP for defense spending. If Trump was a fascist, as you claim, the last thing he would want is for his wealthy neighbor (or his ass kicking “little brother”) to get serious about strength training. We need our little brother to be the lumber jack who is ok, and sleeps all night, and works all day. Xi has informed the PLA to prepare for conflict by 2027. It’s about to get real in the South China Sea when Xi makes the play for Taiwan. NATO and the Quad need to be ready. NATO countries need to boost their national defenses up to 5% if they can, but at least 2%. Xi must be contained with his battle, just as Putin with his. No one wants these conflicts spreading out of control. Sorry about the tariffs. They’re stupid. They mostly don’t work. If Canada would hold a parliament and commit to 2% of GDP spending on defense, this would go away. It’s a ham handed approach. But it would be swell to your NATO partners if Canada paid up - to their defense (to themselves).
Well. An increase of about 20 billion a year to Canadian defense would have kept the tariffs away (and still can). Canadian leadership has failed Canadians. This was a no brainer. Why would Canadian leadership choose the tariffs instead? It never made sense.
As long as the candian gov't screws entrepreneurs with over regulation and taxation, the incentive will not be there to 'build canadian'. If anything it will drive them to the US to avoid the hoops that the canadian gov't makes buiseness owners jump through Unless the Canadian gov't ends income tax when they start collecting from their counter tariffs, but how much you wanna bet they won't
If you're referring to Trump's income tax idea, no one really thinks that is going to work. As for building business in Canada, if we elect Carney, he's got some very good plans including a plan on how to take advantage of the U.S. taking its eye off the ball...
I've been a consumer of American media, but I never felt like they were friends or brothers. Not sure where people get that from, unless they actually have family there. Some do.
Dear Canadians, China will never invade Canada never impose its ideology on Canada. Your best bet is to restart trade with China. This is the best response.
See Dan gets it. I would like to add though, that US as an older brother has always resented his younger brother. His younger brother gets better grades, America's parents loves the younger brother more, and everyone says that Canada, the younger brother, will be more successful than America in the future. The older brother does not like this and has to get rid of the younger brother while he still can.
This really makes me sad. I grew up on the border and my family still lives there. I have family members on both sides of the border. We really have more similarities than differences. I miss the days when we could just drive over and had more of a shared community. Not everyone here supports Trump. I didn’t, but I understand why Canadians would feel that way. Unfortunate, it seems as though some of his supporters are going to have to experience negative consequences before they realize the mistake they made. I’m sorry this is happening.
Ya but he's lying. He's swinging a false narrative just to convince his followers. Canada does not receive subsidies from any country for heaven's sake. And the only reason there's even a deficit is because the U.S. needs our energy because it lacks enough domestic supply to meet demand. But you think he's going to be honest and say any of that? No. He's going to give a false number and a false story and say ridiculous stuff to justify his attacks on a neighbour and ally.

It was all over the news today that 1200 people that are on the terror watch list were apprehended on the northern border. That it was twice as much as the southern. Communication between both countries is and will continue to be twisted in hopes to make us divided.
This is what Americans hear and feel Canada ignores. - rumors China controls half of Vancouvers shipping ports and provides their own security screening. - over the last 4 years 1200 terror watch list folks caught at the north border. - Cartels from Mexico prepping fentanyl (probably from those shipping ports) - Canadas immigration screening is almost none existent. That’s what is getting reported to Americans. I don’t trust the news and Trump is going hard, hes not going southern boarder hard because thats a different story but all Canada has to do is reform country entry screening. Even Panama is pushing China away as of today. My fear is the media will under report/over report to cause a great divide between us. America just went through it and it’s a thick fog of division.
The relationship between the US and Canada is less like brothers, and more like a parent and their teenaged child. America sets the terms of the relationship. Trump wants to bring back protectionism, then Canada will just have to adapt to the new model. A tough love parent can still have a positive relationship with their kids.

This idea that a massive, resource rich but small population country like Canada can be self sustaining without a superpower asserting control is just ridiculous. So pick your poison.
@@snorpywell said. A lot of Canadians don’t seem to realize that the countries are in completely different weight classes. The economy of Canada is about the size of Texas’s economy. Plus adding in the military and tech etc. that the US has, there is a huge difference in power in the relationship.
Facts Avg Canadian purchases 10450.00 in American goods annually Avg American purchase 1020.00 in Canadian goods annually The truth… Canadians don’t need tariffs on American goods. We are on mass cancelling and unsubbing and refusing to buy American now. We will move to a nationalist economic model not unlike what Trump is proposing for America. It was his idea after all. Too late to change course now. We’ll see where it all ends up.
Dan: You are mistaken with regard to similarities between the Americans and Canadians. And it is perhaps because of backpacking around the Mediterranean for over a year in 1979 that I came to that realization. At that time, a distinct Canadian identity was a big thing. One of the big differences, I noticed, was that most of the Americans that I met wanted to take charge, win, be right etc. Canadians just wanted to get along. One of the reasons why there is severe and unforgiving schism in the U.S. is because of this attitude which can be culturally traced back many centuries. Let us take the example of the recent Cdn response to Trump's tariffs. Notice the need for a consensus and unified response. I once was sent to a suburb north of Pittsburg to do some IT work in the late 1990s and my U.S. contact complained to me about how long it took for the Canadian side to make decisions because they needed consensus. This is a thing. Let us take some social aspects. The right of an employer to fire without cause and recompense happens in most Red States. This has a substantive psychological, economic, and social consequence in the balance of economic leverage between employers and labor. The pre-tax and pre-subsidy GINI Coefficient is through the roof in the U.S. and is comparable to what exists in developing countries. No free civic polity can long endure in a nation with such extreme economic disparities which invariably overflow into social and economic inequalities and two-tier justice (i.e., late Roman Republic). Trump is effectively governing as a tyrant who observes neither the Constitution in his nation nor international agreements. He deigns to govern by Realpolitik. But he is no Bismarck but Kaiser Wilhelm II. I can go on and on about this. There are subtle differences which have only increased since my youth as Americans have even sought to win the race towards utter moral decadence which leads to schism and societal disintegration. While moral decadence may have occurred here as well, we are still too naive vis-a-vis the Americans. Most are not aware of how dangerously evil, even if stupid, the Americans have become on both sides of the political continuum. Jim Morrison has become a prophet. "All the children are insane" (The End) Why should it surprise that the Americans treat foreigners so bad, when they treat their own "family members" with vehemence and violent vitriol? John Hutchinson (Brampton, ON)
Keep crying, hyperbole statements like yours is why no one takes liberals seriously. The USA has been taken advantage of by many country for too long, especially Mexico. By letting in illegal immigrants & drugs & not really trying to stop them. Canada same, but in a much smaller scale.

I’m an American and I think what Trump is doing is terrible.
Canada has no pipelines or terminals on the coasts, Quebec and Ontario have vetoed that for decades. It would take years to build that infrastructure.
As an American, I’m sorry about everything. You put it right by saying Trump is creating an us vs you mentality. That’s deeply unhealthy in any context, but in the context of nations existing peacefully with one another it’s gravely serious. I will hope for better days between our countries.

@marilynmckercher4147 you sound offended by OP. They made a valid point and you got all hostile. This is bad for all parties involved.

Muslims did not vote for Biden because of Gaza. He got more black votes and women than he did in 2016. Women lost their right to bodily autonomy and they did not care. Seems Trump wants to tariff the whole world. I'd say let them pay higher prices on everything. It's time for us to pursue new relationships and cut ties.
Also if we're using the fraternal analogy, Canada would definitely be the more rational older brother!
Ya we are the more measured, mature and calm type. The U.S. is more the crazy and reckless type.
I WOULD BE CURIOUS TO SEE THE CANADIANS WHO WERE PROUD TO SEE TRUMP IN POWER IN NOVEMBER AND TODAY THEY ARE PROBABLY GOING TO LOSE THEIR JOBS BECAUSE OF TRUMP.
I'm quite ashamed of Canadian maggats. I see them as traitors to the country.
It's about exerting his power over all of North America and Greenland, and securing his legacy.
get Chinese investment into Canada to help. Build the pipeline that will really piss Trump off
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. As an 1st generation American, I am deeply saddened by this turn in my country. You have every right to be angry, hurt and mistrustful. You have every right to protect what is yours. I will do what I can as a US citizen to try to stem the tide of this madness. That is my commitment to you my Canadian friends.
Spot on, mon ami.
Your analogy of brotherhood broke my heart. On the other side, I do think one should try not to blame citizens for their government's faults.
But Americans voted for this. So yes, you are responsible. Canada didn't have a say.
@@lewisduffy675 Clearly we didn't all vote for Trump
@@janb200clearly he got into power. So…????❤️🇨🇦
Great video Dan, supporting our Canadian cousins over US any day. New Zealanders love Canadians
Thanks for having the nerve to talk about this heinous situation... It's a long way from what you usually make videos about. Thank you
Well said
Canadians have been through worse things than this. Let all have some self respect for a change. Fly that maple leaf everywhere. No time to be a wuss.
Hi Dutchie, I am with Canada. We Europeans feel betrayed as well and we got your back. We have never forgotten the fact that Canadiens libarated us from Hitler. We owe you one.
Very well said Dan.
You have a new American friend. Subbed.
us Canadian's do not need America's protection we Canadian's can fight its own battles
Canada already slaps tariffs to US products for a while
American people don't support tariffs at all!!!
600 billion out of Canada's GDP because of these tariffs MEANS our NATO commitment is higher than the USA's 3.5% now. Get it?
Well. An increase of about 20 billion a year to Canadian defense would have kept the tariffs away (and still can). Canadian leadership has failed Canadians. This was a no brainer. Why would Canadian leadership choose the tariffs instead? It never made sense.
Trump still thinks he's in a reality show
I so appreciate your insight.
As long as the candian gov't screws entrepreneurs with over regulation and taxation, the incentive will not be there to 'build canadian'. If anything it will drive them to the US to avoid the hoops that the canadian gov't makes buiseness owners jump through
Unless the Canadian gov't ends income tax when they start collecting from their counter tariffs, but how much you wanna bet they won't
If you're referring to Trump's income tax idea, no one really thinks that is going to work. As for building business in Canada, if we elect Carney, he's got some very good plans including a plan on how to take advantage of the U.S. taking its eye off the ball...
Come join with us in Australia, we both have the same head of state, join together and we will have more clout.
I've been a consumer of American media, but I never felt like they were friends or brothers. Not sure where people get that from, unless they actually have family there. Some do.
Dear Canadians, China will never invade Canada never impose its ideology on Canada. Your best bet is to restart trade with China. This is the best response.
Canada can use the engineers and out of work auto workers in Ontario to work on the new Canadian nuclear weapons program.
Canada exports more to the U.S., than than the U.S. exports to Canada. Let’s let this run its course.
American here who despises Trump. I am sick about this.
We are sorry too. Losing a friend sucks.
This is a heartbreaking thing what is happening between us. No one with two brain cells to rub together wanted this to happen.
Yup, loosing friends is sad. Time to move on. ❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Dear Dan, We are suffering under Trump and I have terror in my heart. Please don't blame us all. (side note - I didn't vote for this vile baffoon).
Remember Canada, most Americans did not vote for Trump. Stay strong.
How did he went on to being ur President for d 2nd time if most of u didn't vote 4 him?
I apologize for America. Im a NEVER trumper!!!
Trump was also saying that Canada has taken advantage financially of the USA for too long
Ya but he's lying.
Keep in mind that when he signed the USMCA agreement he called it the best trade agreement ever!
Say hello to all my Hubert Métis cousins in the Trois River Area , love Canada, I have my roots in Quebec and some in Halifax NS. I left my heart in Yamachechee ❤️ I’m with Canada 🇨🇦
He’s saying he’s changing it to 50% now.
It was all over the news today that 1200 people that are on the terror watch list were apprehended on the northern border. That it was twice as much as the southern. Communication between both countries is and will continue to be twisted in hopes to make us divided.
Just lock the border and coast down. We can help eachother as a country be the best we could be
This is what Americans hear and feel Canada ignores.
- rumors China controls half of Vancouvers shipping ports and provides their own security screening.
- over the last 4 years 1200 terror watch list folks caught at the north border.
- Cartels from Mexico prepping fentanyl (probably from those shipping ports)
- Canadas immigration screening is almost none existent.
I find that very hard to believe, where's your source? I have been all through the news from various sources today and never saw one mention of it....
Get real!!!!! More misinformation and fear mongering!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
He is pure EVIL.
The relationship between the US and Canada is less like brothers, and more like a parent and their teenaged child. America sets the terms of the relationship. Trump wants to bring back protectionism, then Canada will just have to adapt to the new model. A tough love parent can still have a positive relationship with their kids.
Your arrogance is insulting. though you are clearly intending to be as insulting as possible with your language. Nu uh frankly that kind of relationship is the kind that has to go no contact.
@@Yurothehotot Nope. Just being real. I'm Canadian, and this is just the way it is. Your idea that we can just cut off our relationship with the US when our entire economy and national security is reliant on them is the epitome of _arrogance._
"No contact" with the US means Daddy China reigning over Canada.
Oh give me a break. lol NO
@silkeotd7194 I've said this stuff before and I never get any counter arguments. Just hostility and bitterness.

Facts
Avg Canadian purchases 10450.00 in American goods annually
Avg American purchase 1020.00 in Canadian goods annually
The truth… Canadians don’t need tariffs on American goods. We are on mass cancelling and unsubbing and refusing to buy American now. We will move to a nationalist economic model not unlike what Trump is proposing for America. It was his idea after all.
Too late to change course now. We’ll see where it all ends up.
Dan:
You are mistaken with regard to similarities between the Americans and Canadians.
"All the children are insane" (The End)
Why should it surprise that the Americans treat foreigners so bad, when they treat their own "family members" with vehemence and violent vitriol?
John Hutchinson (Brampton, ON)
it's 1939 Germany, absolutely sickening
Keep crying, hyperbole statements like yours is why no one takes liberals seriously. The USA has been taken advantage of by many country for too long, especially Mexico. By letting in illegal immigrants & drugs & not really trying to stop them. Canada same, but in a much smaller scale.
I know. People need to wake up!!!!!❤️❤️🇨🇦
Shakespeare expressed this quite eloquently in Julius Caesar: “Et tu, Brute?” which Caesar says as he is being stabbed to death by Roman leaders, including his 'friend' Brutus
Those of us who never supported Trump are counting on other countries....Canada and Mexico specifically...to hold the Trump accountable for what he does. We will all survive the 4 or less years of the last Trump administration.
Well said!!
I'm sorry for our president and these Maga maniacs here in the states. I'm rooting for you guys in Canada not all of us americans support this stupidity. Love from Detroit
We’re at least as horrified as you are, trust me. We have to live with this demented, amoral monster. Speaking for every American I personally know, we are so sorry and embarrassed.
Not sure what to think of Tariff Trump anymore . He also said that Putin , Xi Ping or any other countries have no right to invade others ...yet Trump stated he would use military force if needed to take Greenland . Sounds very hyper critical to me
He's very hypocritical. Just look at all the drugs, guns and migrants (during Trump's first term) that pour across the border into Canada... it's far more of an issue than the amount going to the U.S. But the U.S. does nothing about that.... HYPOCRITES FOR SURE
None of this was necessary. I have wished for a long time that my ancestors had settled somewhere in Canada instead of Minnesota, or maybe just stayed in Finland.

How are citizens going to see eye to eye, if we have almost completely different values. We Americans tend to be more conservative & value hard work, self-determination, & law abiding laws. Whereas Canadians keep electing Trudeau who’s as liberal as you can get. I remember with Stephen Harper, we would get along with Canada so much.
