Naming a low-cost programming LLM 'Haiku' is genius: just like a haiku, it’s about elegant minimalism and getting maximum value from minimal resources Brilliant!
after a day of using I can spot the difference between sonnet and 3.5 haiku its definitely got improved compared to 3.0 haiku but TBH for architectural / crucial tasks sonnet is still way more reliable. haiku is good for refinement tasks though
There is to much hate on this Model on X. Yes its much more expensive than Haiku 3, 4o-mini and gemini flash. But none of them is even CLOSE to programming power. I think they should have made a new model called something else and advertise it as a cheap programming LLM. But it is how it is still a gread LLM for coding and very cheap
i kinda get why there so much haters on this model, coz the haters comes when Deepseek 2.5 is released. which has a minimum Gap on programming with Sonnet compare to the others and its way way way more cheaper than Claude. they think if China can do a cheaper model and has minimum Gap with Sonnet, then why this model needs to be soo pricy ?
Hopefully they won't change it's functionality or change the price because people will switch to Haiku from Sonnet. Great video. Also what is an "expo"?
Yea, I’m with you. I’ve actually been running into issues with aider and sonnet where I’ll provide it urls for docs and tutorials but it seems to think it knows better and creates its own approach. Can only assume it’s something with aiders caching, so might not be sonnet specific. Regardless, aider has been a game changer for me
I noticed in your videos theres not much love for Cursor, is it simply because it costs money? Money aside, which do you think is a better set up, Cursor or Cline with Haiku &/or Aider?
Great multi-language capability and coding capability. Sure this will be my go-to. But it's FOUR TIMES more expensive than Haiku-3... They dare to call it "Haiku". This means cheaper (under $0.25 per 1M tokens) Claude models are going away... oh dear...
Im using new claude 3.5 sonnet with cline to create android app using android studio structure which is quit complex programming. But it handle it perfectly how ever the cost is quit expensive. So i wonder should I change to deepseek or haiku for better price?
what about if we use it into continue dev ? is it worth it also ? because sometimes i want it to use it as debug programming instead of creating something like aider and cline does
There is a lot of controversy in X about this model since you can do the same thing as with Gemini or 4.0 mini with the lowest cost. Additionally, there is not much security that it really has superior coding capacity since the tests in cline today are coming out with truncated code. I actually did the entire structure of my new code with Sonnet and I would like to know if I can use Haiku, but the lack of a check point in cline makes me doubt that it might damage everything I have done so far.
There is checkpoint in Cline, you can go to Timeline in VS Code and revert from there. Secondly, I literally don't see much issue with this model. The model is better than 4o MINI and Flash/Pro. I have seen people compare it to Mistral Large but it's just dumb comparison. 4o Mini and Gemini Pro cannot beat This model. So, it's a baseless comparison. Targeting on pricing is not good either. People are fine paying for O1 but cheaping out on a good model. X is an impractical place, do your own testing and check it for yourself. I think replacing sonnet with haiku yields similar results with lower pricing which no one else is even able to match. No one is comparing it to Deepseek on the internet which speaks dozens about people comparing them.
@@AICodeKing if you keep this way you will be a legend on youtube, no one its doing this for the community, thanks a lot for your answer i will do it what you say !!!

I learned Aider from you couple of months back, it has resonated the most with me and found a place within my workflow. Thank you for sharing!
Thanka a lot for the support. I'm glad that I could help!
Can you make a video explaining when aider is the right tool for the job please
Can you make a complete video on how we can use haiku with architect mode via aider. Love your videos btw!
run it with aider --haiku --architect. that seems to work fine
after a day of using I can spot the difference between sonnet and 3.5 haiku

Maybe because they are using it for more advanced stuffs. But it's ok for simple web applications.
looks great indeed - thanks for the video 😃
I forget to skip or fast forward the dragons. I really enjoy them.
Looking forward to see all the other projects with the new Haiku!
The coding results are great _ wonder if the Haiku ouput is only 8K or they updated it to 16K:)
Thank you for sharing!

Cross platform react framework
I think the output token limit of 4k for Claude 3.5 Haiku is a problem for longer codes. Even Sonnet's 8k limit is not too long
Use Haiku to create the rough code and Sonnet to refine it.

Depends on what you like Cline and Aider is amazing. Cursor, not so much.

I bought copilot for $100 a year and I think that's the best deal if you code daily.

Haiku is better.
King!
In my experience, for infrastructure as code, o1 (even mini) is vastly superior to any Claude offering so far.
Is it cheaper than Deepseek Coder 2.5 API rates ?? I’m currently using Deepseek API & quite happy with the pricing.
No, it's not cheaper than that.
@@AICodeKing Damn.☹
Still a good option to have. The more cheaper these LLM APIs gets the better for us 🙂
How's Deepseek performance for you?
@@karamjittech For the price, it’s really good. Might not be able to compete with sonnet or o1. But still gets the job done

I use continue when I want full control of a project, it's great you def should use it.
@@ashgtd yes i use it a lot also, but it will cost more than cline and aider, isn't ? since the output token might descriptive and longer
Soooooooooooooooooo! Happy ❤
I one shot the miensweeper game earlier today. It was perfect. cost me 0.01
PLease keep us posted if you keep with haiku aqs would love to sue that instead.
The cheapest is $5 per million tokens?
