    I think that glowing up is just a matter of experimentation and finding what you like rather than fixing on a certain thing. I have had many awkward phases on my own journey

      Bruhh this is so sus. Y? Bc u don't wear "2018" casual style all the time. At some point u have to change up within that same year. Vs "2024" u kidding me😂. I can dress like "2018" casual now and dress "2024" the next day. He is making bogus video cuz it is trend before and after trend they called. It isn't real.

    i feel that my glow up started when i started paying attention to what the elderly are stepping out in. they tend to have pieces that have been around for YEARS in their closet. they aren’t trying to hard and still step out in full fits that suit them so well

    Glowing up is also a big mental thing as well. Along with dressing for your body, working out, & shopping differently - you gotta really view yourself differently too. Shadow work, therapy, (whatever works for you) you have to change your mindset about who you are and who you want to be😇

    for me, it's been getting older and realizing what silhouettes work best on my body. for example, higher waisted pants and a cropped jacket or top work well on me. the other major thing that has affected my style in a positive way is taking daily photos. I've been posting ootd pictures on Instagram nearly every day, and it's been so cool to see the transformation. in particular, as you mentioned in a previous video, making sure your "foundation" is strong (ie. pants and shoes), completely makes an outfit.

    my style glow up happened mainly cuz of 2 things: (1) fitness, losing weight and gaining muscle and getting leaner made many of my clothes just fit better silhouettes (2) experimentation with what i like and represents my authentic self the most from wearing artist berets 👨🏽‍🎨 to the type of shades and shoes i wear aligns with my confidence and how i present myself to myself before anyone else sees it which makes it easier to go outside without a doubt

    As a first generation American and my parents from the poor countryside of a younger South Korea, I didn't have much money to explore a ton of options and was forced to wear mainly hand me downs, clearance items, and donated items, and most of them were always oversized and more towards the workwear side of stuff. As I grew up and found more interest in clothes, I realized that I feel the most confident and comfortable in baggy clothes since I grew up and lived in baggy clothes most of my life. It's not my whole wardrobe's personality, but it's one that dominates it. Live mixing in silhouettes of traditional and countryside South Korean clothing with some American ones and makes it a unique mix for me personally. Plus, I have a hip hop freestyle dance background, so I tend to have pieces that I'd personally dance in or can see dancers in

    I agree with all these! i've realized im not into big logos (Nike just do it) and more of a turtleneck with cardigan styling.
    Physical is a MUST. I've seen so many pieces that don't give the glow because of the lack of physical health.
    Love the vids!

    For me it was when I started looking at items that looked as if they were never touched in the shop. So many people go to the same pieces that they are attracted by ‘influencers’ but I seem to always get compliments on the ‘awkward’ and less sold items cause it’s unique and shows itself as different.

    The problem I have with the ‘know your measurements’ is that brands often seem to have 1 size chart but make clothes in multiple fit styles. For pants that’s generally ok, waist size is waist size - how wide the leg you can determine fairly easily. But for tops, I know I’m a 38in chest & the size chart says small but I have no idea how much that changes if it’s a relaxed fit so I constantly have to trial & error with multiple sizes. That’s assuming in the first place the size chart refers to regular fitting but 9/10 that isn’t disclosed.

    When I first got into fashion/buying my own clothes.
    I didn’t know my size for t-shirts or trousers, so I went for the oversized meta as that was what was popular at the beginning of 23’
    (Since I finally had a job and got my first paycheck, thus growing out of moms picked out closet😂😂)
    Context I’m an S 35 ish Chest size and 30.5-31 Waist but I was out here buying literally everything on XL 🌚.
    From an oversized mess to figuring out color patterns and being inspired every single day.
    2023 was a good year and oh yeah
    That skinny jeans era came in AND disappeared immediately.

  • @tabletbooks4967
    @tabletbooks4967 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    444 Definitely agree with #5. I've always had a thin body type, but since the pandemic I've been exercising a lot and my body fat has dropped to its lowest level ever and it feels like the shirts I'm wearing are hitting some elusive ideal fit, like two instruments harmonizing on a single note. Obviously, people should do this responsibly given the prevalence of eating disorders, but it does feel like you'll only get the full sense of your clothing when you reach the body fat level of those who modelled it.
    I'll also quickly add that a key element of clothing, often neglected, is texture. I love clothing that is soft, but also firm, and the smooth but thick textures of single stitch shirts. Your preferred texture against your skin can add a lot to your confidence and attitude, which is why you're wearing the fit you do.

  • @Mrshawnizm
    @Mrshawnizm 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Great tips. Fashion should be more inclusive. Fit and physical appearance isn't always synonymous and clothes should adjust to be more inclusive. You yourself are tall and struggle with finding appropriate jeans. So yes be healthy, but fashion should add more inches... not tell someone to workout. So inclusivity is modern couture . Disclaimer: This is no dig at you at all.

    Ok can i please be heard: on the internet, it's not about style itself but how you PRESENT the style. The location, the poses, the light, the image quality AND the one who's wearing it. Yeah outfit is distinction but on what is that distinction based on; its not post-modernism, there are some good and well regarded places (museum) and some not as well (a construction site)

    I highly dislike the term “glow up” when it comes to fashion. Fashion to me is a never ending journey so to refer to someones style elevating from one thing to another as a “glow up” is just silly imo. It makes people feel crappy about their current or past fashion endeavours when in reality they shouldn’t cuz that’s who they were at a certain point in their life. Also don’t put your whole value in your style and your wardrobe, saying this because I know a lot of people do including myself sometimes. You’re much more than just your materialistic possessions. I don’t think there’s an end goal to fashion or style, it’s ever evolving and changing at least in my eyes. I don’t think I’ll ever hit a point where I’ll be like that’s it I’m happy with all I have in my wardrobe. Maybe I’m talking crap but that’s my 2 cents hehe
