    Oh shoot, external IPx6 testing, that's all I needed to know; I was on the fence with V14 briefly until you said this. Thanks!

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have to admit, it turns out that the v14 also is externally IP rated - a commenter pointed out that I made a mistake about that and they were right. However, after testing both the v14 and the lynx, I personally find that the lynx is dramatically better than the v14 in so many ways. The near inability to ride seated on the v14 without a seat that blocks the tail light is a huge problem for me. The v14 also has a really bad suspension that is fundamentally flawed and IM employees have secretly admitted that it can't be fixed without totally redesigning the wheel. The V14 isn't "bad", it just has some deal-killing flaws that are hard to get past for me. The lynx is, in my opinion, a solid upgrade over the v14.

    Got my Lynx 2 days ago. 50S batteries and it came with pads and a seat. Yeah, the suspension is great. So far I'm okay with the stock pedal height. Any advantage to lowering them? Seems to me leaving it alone keeps the geometry the way it was engineered to be. Any thoughts?

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I very much like my lowering kit from e-Rides. It lowers the center of gravity by about an inch, and by doing so it increases the feeling of being "planted", especially at high speed. Some think it increases your risk of pedal scrapes on tight turns, but I haven't experienced that at all. The pedal height is still plenty high, and much higher than the EX30. I recommend it! The only true tradeoff is the possible incompatibility with the toe locks and you may need enlarged toe lock covers or something similar. Or just remove the toe lock assembly entirely and ride with "normal pads". Anyway, in short, it has a small trade off but I love it personally and it's worth it for me.

    • @dustinhankins2153
      @dustinhankins2153 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Lowering the pedals will make it slightly less agile. Also may get close to pedal scraping on sharp turns.

    • @-JohnSmith-
      @-JohnSmith- 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Keep it standard height you'll get used to it you will definitely scrape the pedals doing sharp u-turn at low speeds, it is definitely more agile at speeds under 20 mph and I feel just as stable at high speed.

But I'm more than satisfied. My online store didn't provide the pads you mentioned. Tomorrow the Grizzla pads will arrive and then I'll experience the power of pads. The best review I have seen up to date (and I watched all of them, trust me!). We agree about most of the points. About few we don't agree, but we are not competent to argue 🤫). Where we can argue, is about that charger. You don't want a character that outputs exactly the charging voltage. The Li-Ion batteries are charged CC-CV, and limiting the voltage in the CV phase is BMS's business. About which BMS you didn't talk, BTW, and it was a pity you didn't praise it, because this wheel has one of the best BMSs on the market. If your charger gives the exact voltage, at 5A you lose 1V or more in the cable, unless the cable is really thick or really short.

  • @SamClegg
    @SamClegg 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Regarding the charger, my understanding is that it really should be up to the wheel to limit the incoming current. I heard they are working on a firmware update that allows you decide how high you want to charge regardless of the incoming voltage.
    IIUC a good wheel/BMS should make the incoming voltage (the voltage coming out the charger) less important. In fact, it seems that the lynx already has the ability since I've charged mine all the way up to 151v in the past when my charger was set to 168v (by accident).. without any fire starting. So .. I think rather than demanding that the chargers be perfectly calibrated we should instead demand that the wheel be calibrated to stop accepting more current after it is full. I've heard that that this definition of "full" will be tunable in a future version of the lynx firmware. Since I live on a hill I would love to be able to set this to 149 when I'm at home and 151 when I'm on the road.

    • @boblatkey7160
      @boblatkey7160 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That really doesn't make a lot of sense. I think you're going down an unnecessary rabbit hole. I have 900 miles on mine and the charger is perfect. It charges right up to 4.2 V per cell and quits. You can watch the app and turn it off earlier if you want. Beyond that you're unnecessarily splitting hairs.

  • @XtianApi
    @XtianApi 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a lot of experience with electrical engineering and I can say that the chargers being adjusted correctly is not enough.
    Voltage sags on the line a lot at high currents and a little towards the end at low currents.
    Any charger worth it's salt needs to have sensing wires at the actual charge port.
    If an anker charger for your phone can do it, and a 75 dollar hobby charger can do it, all the way up to 8000 dollar keithley gear, then they can do it.
    Screw adjustment pots.
    Give us port side sensing chargers.
    It's so easy, I retrofitted my stock s22 charger to do it with spare parts I had laying around.

    The pads from eWheels are quite good and maybe I've got mine mounted backward (on the Patton), but I have a pad that locks in the toes and just one pad on the rear that works well enough. A decent seat is also included. The only thing I think is a "must replace" would be the pedals. I think the Lynx would be better for off-road than the Patton - at least my kind of off-roading - because the 16" Patton is too unstable. I have a non-pro Master that is better off-road than the Patton and this is primarily due to wheel diameter.

    How do I select the spring weight for the Leaperkim Lynx? With gear, backpack, etc I’ll have a payload that varies from about 185-210 depending on what I decide to carry. Most of the time it should be around 190-200. Do I need 58, 62, 66, or 70lb spring?

    This wheel has gotten so many good reviews over the last few months. Is it clever, strategic marketing by Leaper Kim? Or is it really that good? The 2,700wh battery... the same as my Nikola AR+; and less than both their Sherman Max, and Sherman S, running at 3,600wh. The Sherman S runs about 8 lbs heavier. The Sherman Max weighs LESS than the Lynx - ( no suspension, but packs a 3,600wh battery!) - And then there's the Patton. Same weight as the Lynx, smaller battery, lower volts, same range! - but $1,100 less! With all these options on the table, it really comes down to a very well-informed rider, and what they EXACTLY need. All that aside; seeing your review has peaked my curiosity more - but wow, a real $4,700 - one heck of a paygate to satisfy my curiosity. (for me anyway, who lives in the middle of Nowhere, with no-one nearby who has a Lynx to try, let alone any EUC for that matter). Good review! Thanks for your input on this wheel.

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Leaperkim is honestly terrible at marketing 🤣 they have sent a few EUCs to the most followed TH-camrs for free. Such as Zen Lee and Wrong Way (and a few others), but They have all largely seemed honest about it to me. Yes there are some flaws with it that need correction, such as the charging voltage and whatnot. But beyond that, it's an extremely well-polished wheel. It's not the best at everything - but it's great at what it tries to be good it, if that makes much sense.

    • @-JohnSmith-
      @-JohnSmith- 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wheel speed is 4 mph slower than GPS, set to highest values I get beeps starting at 53 WS at 85%+ battery and even down to about 35% it beeps at 48-49 WS.
      Running a constant 45 MPH ws I get about 20 miles range from 100% to 30%
      Fast acceleration really kicks in at about 18 mph.
      I think the ET Max has it beat on some canyon turns because of the extra weight and lower battery, where the links is a little more wobbly but still controllable.

You can reach 62 (HS mode off) and higher as you indicated only by replacing the original HT motor with an HS motor from Sherman-S. This not only increases the actual speed with the rider on it to 68.5 mph, but also reduces the instability at speed due to the heavier motor and provides an accurate PWM to control your safety.

    The Lynx is a fantastic wheel and the most all round. It accelerates very fast with a 240 lbs rider from standstill. In my video, you can clearly hear my excitement. But it does dip, while I accelerate in hard mode. My Patton does not dip.
    - Don't put a seat with the Lynx, which won't fit everybody.
    - Don't rely on a 3rd party app for accurate readings. EUC world can take the alarmsignal from the Lynx and send an alarm to a Bluetooth speaker.
    - I want to see a proper teardown to see how waterresistant the Lynx actually is.

    I may have made a mistake, I bought a KingSong s20pro. It runs well, but it is very heavy and in my opinion far too immobile off-road. But in comparison, the Leaperkim Lynx seems as heavy as a mammoth. Do you really think that something like that is suitable for beginners? By the way: Do you know someone who hates fun?

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donfly-z3u the Lynx is not ultra beginner friendly, but it is possible to learn on it - depends how much patience you have. It is heavier than the S22 pro, but not by a huge margin and its performance is second to none, so I recommend it 🙂

  • @deadbluesky
    @deadbluesky 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    As a owner of the Lynx i agree with most of your review except this is not a beginner wheel at all, first the pedals are a bit high for learning (lower gravity center means more stable and less wobble), second the weight a beginner will fall a lot and receiving a 90lbs wheel on you is not ideal, by experience i did fall recently with the Lynx and the wheel fall on the side my knee and it fractures also it did stretch some ligaments i had all my gears so only my knee got damaged, its been 3 weeks now and it is still painful, most of all i can't ride until its heal. Third the Lynx is too powerful for a beginner, did you remember when you started riding? At some point you became overconfident and tried stupid things like going to max speed or trying to sit without knowing where to put your weight to stay balanced... So for beginners i suggest lighter and less powerful wheels, looking for a use Inmotion V11,V12, Begode Nicola, Kingsong S18 or the new Begode falcon.

    • @WheelGoodTime
      @WheelGoodTime  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree with your sentiment. However it seems that the general populace of brand new wheel buyers is just buying the high-end wheel that they want, as opposed to a lower power beginner wheel. I'm not saying I agree with it, but I understand. It's rough to get a beginner wheel, outgrow it, then fork over more money on a fancy high-end wheel.

    • @deadbluesky
      @deadbluesky 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True and i thought the same thing when i started riding 5 years ago although in that time there were not many bigger wheels. But i hope beginners understand the danger of big high end wheels and buying a smaller and used wheel for starting is a good and less costly option.

      The Lynx is currently in production 🙂 The company that makes them has a lower production capacity (200 per month) and they are in high demand, so sometime it takes a bit of waiting for the order to arrive. They are sold out for most EUC vendors in the world for that reason, but I'm you can order one on backorder - they are constantly sending vendors fresh batches! 🙂 The lynx will certainly hold it's resale value more than other EUCs because it is in such high demand.

    Nice review but a couple of nitpicks, the freespin speed is 132kmh with high speed mode not 167kmh as stated. The inaccurate PWM reporting is a bug, it over reports PWM and this happen regardless if you use field weakening or not (high speed mode), hopefully LeaperKim will fix this with a firmware update but it's good if more people bring attention to this problem, the built in beeps are still accurate however but if you base application alarm of the pwm value you need to set them a bit higher than usual. The charger in itself is not bad but as you stated many customers got chargers that aren't well calibrated, this is a QC issue at the charger manufacturer and hopefully they will improve that, LeaperKim is rumored to include better charging control in the firmware soon as well, but overall a charger that delivers 5A over 151V is very nice for a stock charger.
