Why does it bother me that someone whose not Morgan is wearing 13
During Lynn Williams first cap (2016), she was wearing #13 against SUI and scored a goal less than a minute in the 2nd half. A lot of players then seems to be resting or on strike against Jill Ellis and also demanding equal pay. Also during that time, Alysha Naeher started to show that she's a good replacement for Hope Solo.

@@bkirstie Well, if Morgan doesn't make the Olympic team, Williams will wear #13. It will not bother me. The player doesn't own the jersey numbers in the national team. In other events like pro league or college games, maybe, they can choose unless that number has been retired to a certain player.

I got a bad feeling that the USWNT 🇺🇸⚽️ will get knocked out in the Olympic Quarterfinals just like last time, most likely to teams such as Canada 🇨🇦, Australia 🇦🇺, Japan 🇯🇵, Great Britain 🇬🇧, and the Netherlands 🇳🇱. Other factors include Tighter more competitive sechdule and smaller roster size at 18.
Anything can happen, as we learned last quad, but I think the tighter schedule and smaller roster size will work in our favor. The USWNT doesn't really win because their technique is that much better than the rest of the world - they win because their conditioning is top notch and they are that much more athletic than their competitors. They wear teams down. And they just kicked the crap out of Canada in the finals with nothing on the line except pride, so I feel good about their mindset.
We lost because as soon as the 2015 world cup ended, Ellis dismantled the USWNT back line and began that experimentation phase of trying to field forwards and midfielders in all positions except goalie. Had she not done that til after Olympics, I think we would have done better.

Cool, but Mallory Pugh, third on the team in goals per minutes, young (unlike her replacement and the average age of the team), 18 goals in 63 caps, extremely popular. I know, let's cut her. 😂 We'll tell all our fans that she doesn't deserve Olympic glory. Boo. Untold fans have been lost on that boneheaded, heartless, political move by this "coach". I won't be watching and I've supported USWNT for years.
Agree, although it's certainly not going to keep me from watching the Olympic matches! but I do worry that in the meat grinder of the Olympic schedule, they are going to wish they had the youth and stamina of Pugh.
Hard to watch the NWT without Pugh.
I hope they get beat in the first game!
