- Another video with a car using the BMW M50 power plant. This time it is the MST Racing VW Beetle. It is running a built M50 Engine, with a Holset HX50 turbo, and a Liberty 5 speed box. It has a best time of 8.3 at 158mph.
We filmed them at Dragracefest in Hungary, where track conditions were very slippery, as you can see from how it struggled all the way down the track to put the power down. Best time recorded was a 10.00 at 147mph for the 1/4 mile and a 6.98 at 114mph for the 1/8th mile.
Hopefully we will catch up with them again soon.

All the years I’ve been watching your channel Never knew you name was Simon 🤣
Lol, I let that one out the bag 🤣🤣 People usually just shout out VEEDUB
Cool setup .. looks like it would love a prepped track tho
Hopefully I will get to film them again.
I prefer it when they run beetle engines, all be it heavily modified versions. That to me is more impressive than strapping an M50 turbo'd engine on the front.
Watch Ritchie Webb's street legal beetle cabriolet run 8.95secs 1/4 mile.
Yep, I agree I prefer the air-cooled engines myself. I know Richie and have filmed his beetles. However, I am not a die-hard air-cooled beetle only fan, and love any creation that uses the beetle body. This MST car is just gorgeous, and on the right track is also heading to a 7 second run, like Richie's other beetle.
@@VeeDubRacingLiquid cooled Porsche engines is an acceptable substitute.
@@tokehgekko9455 lol, is that your only acception 🤣
@@VeeDubRacing No a 1.9TD/TDI would also be reasonable, have never seen it done tho.
Were is this?
