I think one of the most compelling things about the Thunderbolts* is the fact that most of their morally wrong actions were mostly caused by them being hurt. John Walker killed that one flagsmasher just a few scenes after the death of Lemar. Sure, it was wrong, but almost anyone in his situation would do something similar. Not only that, but his emotions were also amplified by the serum. It is all of that + the military training that he had that lead to the public execution. One of his most remarkable lines, in my opinion is, when he gets mad for them taking away his role of Captain America. He is literally calling out the U.S government for punishing him after he did exactly what they trained him to do. His anger is justified, and while his actions aren’t, it really just shows a real form of grey-morality. Ghost being an antagonist in AMATW makes her being in Thunderbolts* so interesting. Then, making her do contract kills is definitely the right decision. After years of being a weapon for S.H.I.E.L.D. she obviously struggles with feeling guilty for all bad things that she war groomed into doing. Therefore, her working as a contract killer for Valentina would work in a similar way that Bucky’s ‘amends’ worked. It’s just the government/authority figures manipulating them into doing certain things with the excuse of those things being good compared to their past backgrounds. Antonia honestly seems like a great choice for the team. Not only can they add the obvious trauma that she has experienced, but seeing her actually develop a personality will be very exciting. What I really hope for her is that they make her arc be both one of identity and trauma. She can definitely have a similar personality to Taskmaster in the comics if they write her correctly. Years of literal mind control could be a possible gateway to a small side story about identity (counting that her ability is to imitate others, seeing her develop her own fighting techniques during the film would be fun). I can definitely see what they’re trying to do with the team. An exploration of trauma, guilt, and a feeling of uselessness is what would make them stand out. Not only that, but seeing a group of anti-heroes that feels completely morally-grey is going to be really exciting. Ruthless fights and kills are definitely something that I want them to keep in the movie. They can be a great, iconic team, and I hope that the audiences receive them well enough for there to be at least a chance for a sequel.

Can’t wait to see this, because ngl the premise is very promising.
@@TheMCA99 It's fine if you like but for me it just doesn't fit to have Red Hulk go up against Captains America. And for the record I would be saying that if it was Steve instead of Sam. They're both great heroes but neither is at powerhouse level to take on a Hulk
I agree change is good. Seriously. But at the same time I love Dark Reign so much that I can't help but think about how good a full-ass saga of the mcu dedicated to adapting it would be. Just replace Norman Osborn with Justin Hammer (which would be necessary for Sony reasons) and it would be an epic political thriller. BUT I also realize the MCU is in absolutely in no state to adapt that series of stories, nor that version of the thunderbolts right now. So this is fine.
There's a theory out there about perhaps Red guardian did actually fight Captain America just not though one we know pre-endgame, and that the one that Red guardian actually fought was Steve after he'd taken back the stones.
I love U.S Agent and thought he was the best part of FATWS, Wyatt Russel played him so well and I kinda found him the most likable. Excited to see some more.
So you’re telling me Marvel is releasing a movie with Thunderbolt Ross as the villain, and then a movie with a team of villains called the Thunderbolts, and they’re unrelated?
Yes. In the comics, they had nothing to do with each other for like.. 20 years. OG Thunderbolts name was a Nazi reference(look up the Thunderbolts logo, its the SS Waffen logo) because Zemo was behind the team.
@@00pium_kingvampstan I hate how people are saying Sentry is going to be the villain but it's obviously gonna be Valentina. How stupid does Marvel think we are?!?
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some of the returning cast, but I’m most interested in seeing how they depict Sentry. I’ve only read a couple of his comics but I think he’s very interesting when written well. If they could lean a bit into the “forgotten superhero” aspect I think it could be cool.
I don't know what it is about this film, but it feels like it will be a comfort MCU film. Not something really great like Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy, but I think it will be a ton of fun.
Yeah, not quite sure why he’s on a team of antagonists last I checked he was actually a hero. I mean he’s a better hero than the weirdo who got super offended by him daring to ask him to be his wingman
@@creed8712 He's a damn near perfect soldier who has done all that was asked of him. Even after taking the super serum which they said would corrupt anyone other than Steve Rogers, he chose to save people over defending his own honour. Honestly at worst all John Walker has done is simply be put in the worst possible position of not being the Captain America that everyone loves and misses.
I have various reasons why I do not like this film idea as one of them is that it doesn't have anyone from the comics or at least the ORIGINAL TEAM of Thunderbolts, we are dealing with different versions of certain characters from the comics...remember the Taskmaster issue and it doesn't feel right in a good way for me in my personal opinion. I feel like out of all of the Marvel films for 2025, this one is the one that I worry about the most because it feels like it is truly set up for failure regardless of the results of it all.
Yeah, to be honest I won't keep high expectations. Yes, most of the cast have been members of the Thunderbolts at some point, but they were used as the moral compases of their teams, and all the previous appearances of the team were less than spectacular on their depictions... Also, it's kind of disrespectful to call The Thunderbolts "Marvel's Suicide Squad." The only time they were anything like that was during The Initiative and kiiiiind of during Kingpin's reign. This team seems spiritually more in line with the Secret Avengers than anything else, and makes me wonder why they didn't chose that name and why they chose to disrespect The Thunderbolts.
Well, I’d just hope for it to be good. My concern is I hope they do characters like Sentry justice. I trust they will not repeat the same mistakes they’ve been doing for the past three years.
I LOVE YELENA, GHOST AND US AGENT!!! THEY ARE MY LIFE!!! I really want to see an interaction with Yelena and Kamala Kahn. They would have perfect chemistry.
@@WholeShebangYT *THANK YOU!* Give her a girlfriend or someone else (not Kate Bishop!). Bucky should be with someone else. We got robbed of Romanoff and Barnes!
Why wouldn’t she still be with him? They’ve known each other since they were kids, why would she walk out on her best friend right after Lemar just died? Like she’s clearly well aware who the flag smashers were and that they were responsible for Lemar’s death. He killed a flag smasher in revenge for his friend, an understandable move by any human emotion logic.
My worry isn't about the team, it's making the antagonist Sentry. Sure I'd like Zemo or Songbird or both in the team, but the team are characters I love...except MCU's "Taskmaster who is only superficially similar to the comic character of the same name and I hate it. God I hope they make her closer to the comic version in talking and whatnot. But no, the team is not the worry for me. It's having Sentry, a reality warping god-man with an excellent self-contained story. They're going to have to nerf him first of all, which is fine, but idk if they can do any of the coolest things he is known for, like being an old school superhero and Avenger that has been wiped out of everyone's memory for everyone's safety. I did have a theory though watching your video. He might be the Captain America of the 80s that Red Guardian fought, because he seemed entirely convinced he did fight Cap. He isp power-wise probably closer to Sentry of course, but I can imagine him being who Alexi thought was Cap.
Loved the video! Not sure I agree in one regard, I really dislike this chosen characters due to its lack of diversity (i would have prefered every character be from different film franchises, and not just 3 black widow characters, 2 captain america characters and an ant man character). I also really could never get into Ghost, Red Guardian or Taskmaster in their respective films. That being said, i dont hold any of that against this film, the cast is great (i dont like the characters, but the actors are brilliant), the plot sounds fun, and if written properly i could see this tonally being one of the best Marvel movies in years
Never liked the lack of diverse powers. Yeah, I'm late to understanding the assassins thing. I just like super teams with varied powers. Sentry. Ghost. And a bunch of kick-punchers.
The problem with the team is a lack of diversity in powers, aesthetics, and personality. Not only do they look and feel boring because most of them are "good at punching / good at shooting in jackets / leather," but many of them don't have distinct personalities because they are either copies of other characters or just plain poorly written.
Ive beenn excited for this ever since it was announced i just wish taskmaster and red guardian were not in it and instead zemo or red hulk were in it. They both really should be in it. I am excited though, because the movie feels like it will nail a team energy again. And idk how marvel does it but while they fail so much in individual movies often, they have great team movies
Heres the thing, majority of them are in mid movies, no one's gonna ask someone who was checked out of the multiverse saga to watch Blackwidow, Hawkeye tv show, Ant man and the wasp, and Falcon and the winter soldier to follow on their stories
14:10 This is the team right here. And it isn’t a mistake that one is missing. I think they know they ruined taskmaster and she will be the “Slipknot” of this group since her abilities are genuinely worthless in the conflict

Can’t wait to see this, because ngl the premise is very promising.
Redemption done well is amazing storytelling.
not in this case to be fair, but in general comic accuracy is better a good example being my goat. IRON FIST
They should always strive to be accurate to the comics when they can! We don’t talk about what Netflix did to Iron Fist in that first season…
@@WholeShebangYT preach 🗣
This is the only Marvel movie I'm currently looking forward to
idk cap 4 looks cool
This cap 4 and fantastic 4 might be good
@@TheMCA99 It's fine if you like but for me it just doesn't fit to have Red Hulk go up against Captains America. And for the record I would be saying that if it was Steve instead of Sam. They're both great heroes but neither is at powerhouse level to take on a Hulk
I have high hopes for this movie!
Dark Reign is really underrated and I’d love to get some kind of adaption of it
I'm all for this team, whether it's comic or not.
i love ghost so much
There's a theory out there about perhaps Red guardian did actually fight Captain America just not though one we know pre-endgame, and that the one that Red guardian actually fought was Steve after he'd taken back the stones.
I think it will be detached from him atm, bc it’s being set up by Valentina, or it’ll be revealed in the post credits of Captain America.
Mind you, it IS called "Thunderbolts*" with an asterisk. 😀
@@00pium_kingvampstan I hate how people are saying Sentry is going to be the villain but it's obviously gonna be Valentina. How stupid does Marvel think we are?!?
@@wiinterflowers4277 I don't get how this is related to what I said at all lol
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some of the returning cast, but I’m most interested in seeing how they depict Sentry. I’ve only read a couple of his comics but I think he’s very interesting when written well. If they could lean a bit into the “forgotten superhero” aspect I think it could be cool.
I don't know what it is about this film, but it feels like it will be a comfort MCU film. Not something really great like Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy, but I think it will be a ton of fun.
You really make Ghost sound interesting
The trailer looks sick
I just wish zemo was in the team 😢
I feel like there’s definitely an angle to fit him into this too, a shame he isn’t there but I pray he is in a sequel
@@WholeShebangYT Zemo's either Dead or in Wakanda's prison since the last time we saw him in Falcon and the Winter soldier.
Hes in the movie. I saw his name on the cast poster
@@toyanthaog5109 Damm.I guess he lives another day.Shame.
I'm still keeping my expectations low for this movie since the last few MCU movies were a two pack of @ss. With a few exceptions, obviously
Biggest takeaway from this is how much undeserved disrespect was thrown towards my man John Walker.
@@Diamondmite remember that the next time Sam talks about how hard it is to be captain America that the last guy got shat on
14:59 they better not f the sentry up
I kind of hope they show him normal at first and then make him go extremely whacky
John Walker shouldn’t be vilified for his actions. He just did what soldiers are trained to do
you did the impossible.
i am hyped for a marvel project again :D
Why can't a movie be about them finding purpose without Helena stating flat out 'there's something wrong with me I have no purpose'
Yelena my b
Actually both Ghost and Taskmaster are gender swapped in the MCU
That’s true! I just didn’t mention it bc Ghost (thankfully) didn’t get as much backlash as Taskmaster did
@WholeShebangYT She should've gotten more backlash. Race and gender swapping are wrong. Stop saying, "Thankfully."
@@TitanBolt99 it can make a character more interesting though. it’s not necessary if you don’t have a good story to go with it
@TitanBolt99 What’s so wrong about it.
Zemo was set up so well in the end of Falcon and winter soldier. It’s a shame they are not using him.
I hope it's good, I also like the more grounded, nuanced characters. Tbh sentry is way too overpowered for my liking so I hope they use him well
I can’t wait honesty
I just want Bucky to play a central role in this film. He's been sidelined in so many movies.
I just hope we get songbird eventually
this is a video I've been waiting for thank you for validating my feelings on the thunderbolts ummm... may the odds ever be in your favor 😅
If they had only added zemo and abomination I would have loved the team
I still think they are missing Red Hulk. They are called the Thunderbolts but they are missing their namesake, Thunderbolt Ross??? Makes no sense.
If you watched far enough into the video you would've learned that the Thunderbolts are NOT named after Ross
@@WholeShebangYT Nah they are you clearly havent read comics, and my point still stands Red Hulk should be in this movie
I feel like Frank Castle is missing in this roster
@@alexanderlori7651 if a sequel happens then i could def see him on that team. Especially since he’s set to debut back in DD born again
Exactly what they said, I hope to see him in the sequel but they gotta properly reintroduce him in DD first
4:34 Yelena: “and I will keep it that way” (I really hope they keep her comic book sexuality, it would be so meaningful)
They really need to keep that faithful. I don’t wanna see her end up with Bucky, they need to let her be ace
@@WholeShebangYT *THANK YOU!* Give her a girlfriend or someone else (not Kate Bishop!). Bucky should be with someone else. We got robbed of Romanoff and Barnes!
The fact that I don't care about any of these characters would seem to indicate otherwise, on a personal level.
The only ones I care about are Bucky and Sentry. The rest.. nope.
How the hell is John Walker’s girl still with him lmao
The biggest plot hole in the entire MCU fr
Bro did nothing wrong
Why wouldn’t she still be with him? They’ve known each other since they were kids, why would she walk out on her best friend right after Lemar just died? Like she’s clearly well aware who the flag smashers were and that they were responsible for Lemar’s death. He killed a flag smasher in revenge for his friend, an understandable move by any human emotion logic.
@@WholeShebangYT is it really a plot hole though? I mean nobody abandoned Clint after he went on a 5 year murder spree
I really hope they add red hulk and possibly red hulk to the team since they’re already established
I honestly can’t wait. Love Yelena, Bucky, and US Agent, so I’m super hyped
i dont know about bucky tho feels like character regression since thunderbolts is serving as a assassin team
So damn excited!
This will either be guardians of the galaxy good or eternals bad, nothing in between…
Good vid 👍
why do i have a feeling red guardian will die in this
Loved the video! That being said, i dont hold any of that against this film, the cast is great (i dont like the characters, but the actors are brilliant), the plot sounds fun, and if written properly i could see this tonally being one of the best Marvel movies in years
Maybe there will be more people in the beginning but they get killed by sentry
Never liked the lack of diverse powers. Yeah, I'm late to understanding the assassins thing. I just like super teams with varied powers. Sentry. Ghost. And a bunch of kick-punchers.
And starting this movie im assuming people are going to start calling him by his new superhero name white wolf
I need to see a Red Guardian vs Steve Rogers series set in the 60s
Heres the thing, majority of them are in mid movies, no one's gonna ask someone who was checked out of the multiverse saga to watch Blackwidow, Hawkeye tv show, Ant man and the wasp, and Falcon and the winter soldier to follow on their stories
6:26 forgot the Dora were in FAWS
14:10
This is the team right here. And it isn’t a mistake that one is missing. I think they know they ruined taskmaster and she will be the “Slipknot” of this group since her abilities are genuinely worthless in the conflict
If they hadn't ruined Taskmaster I might care..tutned him.into a computer program
