    Man if I was just starting - at that price - it's insane how lucky guitar players are today

      And this is a great modding platform. Tuners, electronics, even a re-fret with jumbos-Boom!

    Be cautious!
    I've been using this guitar for a week now and absolutely LOVED it, yet I've noticed that there's a major, electronic flaw with it.
    After noticing that there's an obvious pick-up sound bleed between the bridge & neck (where the active pickup gets the sound of the inactive one), I've made some changes.
    First, I changed the switch, and then I got a new pick-up for the bridge thinking that they might be microphonic, and also shielded the cavities, however, none of them helped. Then I noticed that the connection over the PCB where 2 pots and all the rest are gathered, is just incorrectly designed. It's different than the 4-wire default schematics. To be more precise; the connections on the Volume pot are wrong, lug 1 and lug 2 must be swapped in between, lug 3 is gnd anyway, tone control is also correct.
    I've removed the pots from the PCB and mounted them on the guitar directly, made the harness as it should be, and voila, everything is working great!
    I don't know how Donner made such a mistake, but god knows how many guitars with this PCB are on sale / sold already.

    I've been playing guitar since 2001 and using the same Ibanez 7 string since 2009. As most Ibanez users would also agree, once you get used to the Wizard neck, you'll have a very hard time getting along with others. It's like sort of a Mafia, lol.
    I got one yesterday for 100$ as a 2nd hand, whose owner used it just for 2 months and decided to sell it for minor cosmetic problems (bridge pick-up was misaligned on screws and output jacks were playing, both I've fixed easily). To be honest, I did not have much expectations, even though I tried this guitar on a local shop about a month ago and actually liked it, but thought that its price was a bit much (asking for 200$)
    I can definitely say that this piece is literally mind-blowing. I've never thought that I could get used to the neck and overall body shape, and easiness of playing a Chinese 6-string guitar that fast. The only thing I can criticize would be the bridge pickup as it seems to have a slight bump on bass freq's which sounds like its a neck pickup, but can be dealt with a mild booster pedal and tinkering around the tone knob of TS, or Rat, or OCD or whatever you like. With a single (I actually loved the neck pickup) or two pickup upgrades, you can use this guitar literally for years. Apart from these;
    - Bridge is a joke, it is more comfy than low-profile Ibanez ones; I've never thought that I could trem-pick this much fast;
    - Tuners are durable enough,
    - The overall finish is so elegant,
    - The neck is another joke, sliding like butter, matt-coated, so comfy to play.
    - Its light; it is literally light-weight that it feels that you don't have it on your shoulders at all.

    Was mir besonders gut ander Gitarre gefällt, ist die Kopfplatte und die Anordnung der Tuners! Dadurch laufen die Saiten gerade über den Sattel, find ich gut. Zum Sound muss ich sagen, der Steg Pick Up hat mir gut gefallen, die Zwischenposition und der Halspickup sind mir auf den Basssaiten zu matt , dumpf. Aber für den Preis , eine wirklich gute Gitarre, gerade für Anfänger. Cooles Video Sascha. 🎼🎸👏👍🙂

    Would you recommend this over the Jackson JS22?

    • @codexan
      @codexan ปีที่แล้ว

      It basically is Jackson js22, if you haven’t bought the guitar yet if $150/160 is all can spend then get this for sure. The Jackson JS 22 to prestige because its from a bigger brand so If you want spend $199 get it for sure

    Is it really the guitar or the amplifier effects modifiers?
    I saw your Instagram post and was simply blown away at how it sounded like you were playing in a live arena which I am sure was due mainly to the amplification modifiers.

    • @SRguitar
      @SRguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey!
      The effects you hear on the Instagram video are not from the guitar (delay, reverb). These are coming from pedals or sometimes I add them afterwards in my DAW. So it's a combination of all the equipment :)

    Donner must send out hand picked versions to all the TH-camrs so people buys these guitars. I purchased one to have a low cost practice, project and backup guitar. There was terrible fret sprouting, very rough fret ends and the neck was twisted. Even after having it worked on by a guitar tech, it is still no better than poor. Maybe I got suckered b/c of all the good reviews but spend a little more money and get a good guitar, at a store where you can also return it if it has problems. Don’t buy this - unless you are a YT influencer. Then I’m sure they will send you a nice one.
