It's really hard for me to grasp that this gritty, nasty, bluesy voice is coming from the same young woman that made me cry with her "Unchained Melody" performance for the Nobel Prize ceremony. Yes, "It's a man's World" was for me the first song too I was thinking about when I listened to this song for the first time. You can tell that Angelina's voice has developed so much in those 6 years in between, which of course is natural (plus this is a better recording as well).

Mindblowingly good! Air Angelina is taxiing for take off into the stratosphere!! This is "official" in the sense that it is from a livestream from the venue, Hotel Cafe in LA, on May 16, 2024. This sold out event was a thing among songwriters, Jesse & Friends, and all that was announced ahead of time were: the 3 songwriters (incl. Toby Gad), and the songs that were to be presented. Prior Jesse & Friends events just had the songwriters singing their own hit songs while playing piano. A few angels (only 4 of us I believe) took a risk and spent $10 on the livestream and were watching this in real time, in case AJ appeared. DID SHE EVER. She sang If I Were a Boy, and Bad Valentine, both for the first time. She practically blew the roof off the joint! This feels like an historic event to me. The livestream was available for 24 hours after this mini "concert", which is how this footage got captured. And can't say enough about Toby, collaborating with AJ - musical genius meets musical genius (wrote that last sentence and hit enter just before you said it!🙂).

@@robertbiron I believe it was on Toby Gad's social media. Then followed the link to the Hotel Cafe website, looked up the event, and it said it was sold out but that a Livestream was being offered. 😇

Boudy, I never thought, when I became an active Angelina angel here on TH-cam, 4 years ago, that I would still be in the mode of introducing more people to Angelina in mid 2024. I hope you are correct and the full promotion is coming soon. From the clues Angelina has given, September seems like the month when she will release new music. Hopefully her first full album on Republic will be released before September 15, the deadline to be eligible for the 2025 Grammys.

When I saw the raw recording made as usual with just a phone or something, I sat there crying! Imagine when I saw what James put together with the approval and I believe some extra footage from Toby!!!
Because this song encompasses everything Angelina is as a singer and as an artist. Although it was written with Toby it has that Angelina touch, that jazzy feeling only her can bring back to music. So, so proud of her! And YES, she has arrived! THIS IS HER YEAR! And if they put together an EP with 5/6 songs together or even release this one as a single I see Grammys coming her way.

In an interview it sounded more like new music will be released only in September. She has however one of her songs on the soundtrack of a new Netflix movie, "A Family Affair", which will be released on June 28th. It's with Nicole Kidman, Zack Efron, and Joey King, so there's some big names involved. Fans believe it will be Love Don't Let Me Go, as she used that in an Insta story announcing her participation on the movie soundtrack.

Great reaction Boudy! Not sure if you have heard, but a song is being used of Angelina for the NETFLIX movie A Family Affair with Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Joey King. It will be released June 28th. No one knows what the song is, so the speculation is going crazy! As for Bad Valentine is concerned HOLY COW! The video and audio came from a Livestream of this event and James Thiel not only get permission to show this on TH-cam from Toby, but he received the audio of the event from Toby as well. This team up of Angelina and Toby could be one heck of a collab that could last for years. So excited for what's coming in the near future!

It strikes me that Bad Valentine is like the negative image of Now I’m the Fool, where her heart is broken by someone telling her they are just no good for her, that she deserves better. In Bad Valentine, she is the one breaking the heart, or at least it’s from the perspective of the heartbreaker 🤷🏻♂️ I agree that she should blow up, but you’ve still just scratched the surface of her earlier years so I hope you’ll keep digging into her catalogue for many moons to come. I have learned over the past few years to temper my anticipation regarding Angelina's career. I've essentially been waiting for about two years for her first real album to drop.. I came to understand that part of the reason why it hadn't was the need for her to finish her scholastic academic requirements. Okay. She has done that, as of the spring of 2023. Then, it occurred to me that until she turned 18, she was required to have an adult along with her on her travels to be her legal "guardian" and be responsible for her. Now she's 18, and doesn't have to. She can travel to any engagement or appearance on her own, even though I'm very sure she would love to have SOME family with her as support. She's released her EP, "Old Enough" with a brand new type of soundscape that was different from what she had done before..all original songs, and a fabulous addition to her catalog. I have to sometimes remind myself that she released another single after that, "It's Our Time" which was excellent, and could have been "the song of the summer", a statement that her generation has come of age, and it's literally their time now, and the youthful energy and positivity is fabulous. That song has all but disappeared. Any kind of tour that an artist undertakes, as you know probably more than most people, is a logistical nightmare! So, I don't anticipate any album soon, or any tour of any size, even if it's sprinkled in with appearances on daytime and late night talk shows (which I would LOVE to see, especially Kelly Clarkson's show!) anytime soon. So many of us, including myself had anticipated a volcanic beginning to her career, kind of like Krakatoa, a massive explosion that circles the earth several times, going down in history. Instead, I'm thinking it's going to look more like Mauna Loa in Hawaii.. it's been erupting for seemingly forever, and the lava flows slowly and inexorably, gradually taking over everything around it. I hope this finds you and your loved ones well! Peace, love and joy from Wisconsin.

Boudy, I discovered Angelina in 2017 and I’ve been religiously following her physical growth and musical development ever since. I say, without hesitation or reservation, that Angelina is the most supremely gifted and phenomenally talented young female artist I have ever heard. I admit that I am absolutely addicted to Angelina’s voice. I never go a day without listening to her sing. She is the best medicine there is because she makes me feel so much better after hearing her sing.

My thoughts on this.
The more I look at this team the more excited I get. I like many had no idea who Toby Gad is. I learned about him after her first performance with him. Another Powerhouse Writer Producer who has worked with only the best of the Industry past and present. Diane Warren another legend visited with Angelina but little came of it. This is very different than that. Angelina and Toby have declared they are working on original material together that they hinted would be available this fall. We are all of course hoping is the long-awaited Album. Some predictions in the past have failed to materialize as predicted. Let's hope this is not the same.
And I've been thinking about the timing which would be brilliant. Many have mentioned a release in September would be late to qualify for this year’s Grammys.
What if that is the plan. We already have two Grammy worthy releases with 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Bad Valentine out right now which will be eligible this year. Produced and performed by two powerhouse singer/songwriters/producers in Angelina and Toby. All of the songs on the album would be eligible for the following year's Grammys. At least in this scenario. If one or both songs win a Grammy think about the runway that would have for a Full year and from the very same powerhouse duo. Having already won they will both be well known by then having already won the Grammy(s). All of those new songs from the new album will be eligible for those Grammys. They will be knocking on the door of the industry. Banging actually! I don't think she can be ignored anymore! Great reaction to a Beautiful song.
One further thought. Hopefully the album is going to be more of the same or similar production. That being the case this is going to be the signature sound, style and voice that will be used to introduce Angelina to the World. This will be her sound, her style. I do like your honest informative reactions so, so much. Not only those about Angelina, but other artists as well. I have another suggestion to look at as well: 20 years old Lucy thomas from the UK. She has released her rendition of "Unchained melody" not long ago. She was runner-up of Voice Kids Britain when she was 14. Lucy is a completely different singer with a completely different genre/stile but both Angelina and Lucy are vocal acrobats and I am very sure you will like what you hear and see when you decide to give it a go. I follow both Angelina and Lucy on TH-cam since about 4 years now and it really is a pleasure to do that.
