I think this "live" version is better than the 2 official versions, the Music Video & the Piano Diaries. Her live performances are almost always better than the produced studio versions. Great reaction Boudy! Not sure if you know, but the video being shot with that upper level view of the stage was done by none other than Alan Papier! The other shot came from a TH-camr called JUMPIN SOUNDS, a channel that shows some of the best live music in London. And, like you said, a big thank you to James Thiel for putting everything together on this video. I was lucky enough to have a question answered by Toby Gad via TH-cam and Instagram. I asked him what Angelina song convinced him to want to work with her? He replied back that he saw her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on America's Got Talent The Champions 2020 and knew he had to work with her. I read a Billboard online article from January in regards to Toby and his music project called the Piano Diaries, which basically takes all of the hit music he helped -produced and or write and redo them with other artists. In the article, he said he only had a few singers lined up to sing for him. For the song If I Were A Boy, he was originally thinking of asking the artist called SZA to sing this particular song. W Angels are so happy that he heard Angelina and changed his mind!

ACTUALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I'm trying to book a visa appointment, the process is a little confusing haha, unlike visas for EU countries. Question for your expert opinion: Another reaction video of a voice coach said the breathy, voice cracks, etc are not style choices but mean Angelina is singing too much, losing or damaging her voice. What do you think?
nooooooooooo not at all. Angelina has been singing everyday for years. Her vocal chords are tough as nails. I'm sure Grandma Mery has taught Angelina how to warm up and and warm down before sets and that's an added layer of protection. Even though i'm very confident that she wouldn't even need to do that. The vocal chords are a muscle, Angelina's been training them for years. At my peak I was performing 5-6 2 hour sets a week, over big holidays we'd go 2 weeks straight with almost 2 gigs per day, never ever had an issue but that's because for 10 years i'd been singing every single day. Vocal chords toughen up the more you use them, and the more you use them correctly. NOW if you abuse them by doing something with them that you're not supposed to do and your voice cracks, then that'll need some recovery for sure, but Angelina really knows how to sing, her technique is pure perfection. Those voice cracks and the breathiness are 'substance' in her voice. I'd like to see what that vocal coach had to say if you wanna link the video.

I just watched it. My point of view is the complete opposite of hers. I think she's addressing it from a very 'theoretical' 'educational' stance. I still don't agree with her. She's making a valid point that would resonate with someone that is an amateur, and just getting started, or even someone that has been doing it for a while but not professionally. Not the case for Angelina. Career singers know what's what and I think that's where singers that are teachers and singers that are professional performers/artists will not see eye to eye. This is giving me an idea though. Go down a rabbit hole of vocal coaches and see what's going on there haha.

I had heard that aj was to sing in the new netflix movie a family affair. There is background singing in it, but, though I've been listening to aj for 7 years, I didn't recognize her voice in any of the songs. Disappointing, because the movie was meh at best.

Question for your expert opinion: Another reaction video of a voice coach said the breathy, voice cracks, etc are not style choices but mean Angelina is singing too much, losing or damaging her voice. What do you think?
nooooooooooo not at all. Angelina has been singing everyday for years. Her vocal chords are tough as nails. I'm sure Grandma Mery has taught Angelina how to warm up and and warm down before sets and that's an added layer of protection. Even though i'm very confident that she wouldn't even need to do that. The vocal chords are a muscle, Angelina's been training them for years. At my peak I was performing 5-6 2 hour sets a week, over big holidays we'd go 2 weeks straight with almost 2 gigs per day, never ever had an issue but that's because for 10 years i'd been singing every single day. Vocal chords toughen up the more you use them, and the more you use them correctly. NOW if you abuse them by doing something with them that you're not supposed to do and your voice cracks, then that'll need some recovery for sure, but Angelina really knows how to sing, her technique is pure perfection. Those voice cracks and the breathiness are 'substance' in her voice. I'd like to see what that vocal coach had to say if you wanna link the video.

I think it's a misunderstanding because she didn't make herself clear enough. She sells vocal coaching, so she names the dangers, says "I'll show you how to avoid it" and uses Angelina's If I were a boy video from that church as a visual aid. I just watched it. My point of view is the complete opposite of hers. I think she's addressing it from a very 'theoretical' 'educational' stance. I still don't agree with her. She's making a valid point that would resonate with someone that is an amateur, and just getting started, or even someone that has been doing it for a while but not professionally. Not the case for Angelina. Career singers know what's what and I think that's where singers that are teachers and singers that are professional performers/artists will not see eye to eye. This is giving me an idea though. Go down a rabbit hole of vocal coaches and see what's going on there haha.

I had heard that aj was to sing in the new netflix movie a family affair. There is background singing in it, but, though I've been listening to aj for 7 years, I didn't recognize her voice in any of the songs. Disappointing, because the movie was meh at best.
