This is like one of my fave album of all time and i enjoyed the video. i watched the movie, dvd concerts and forever is the first record i own lmao... this album is probs their best.. i just like all of the songs in this album until now...would like to c u guys react as well to twice's 3rd full korean album formula of love .. this album debuted in metacritic with a score of 91 the highest ever for a female girlgroup album as well as the highest score for a kpop group .. i enjoyed it very much but would want to know ur reaction

Lol at the shade you guys threw at "Weekend Love", it's really funny. I actually like it more than at least one quarter of the album though. I agree with "If You Wanna Have Some Fun". That song should have been a single. I love "Oxygen" too. To me if they didn't forsake the album, I would have released "If You Wanna Have Some Fun" and "Oxygen" as the follow up singles.

spiceworld is their best album but my favorite one is Forever, I don't know why but R&B means a lot even though I'm more on Pop maybe because R&B opened my heart to see the reality of life.
You guys should make a video of No Angels who were the German version of Spice Girls. All their songs are in English and their entire catalog got available on music services worldwide in November.

I think maybe people would have been more receptive to this album if it was a mix of pop and r&b, Like u said theres too much Darkchild in this album and going full r&b was too big a change for people at the time. Thats why I think a mix of pop and r&b would have worked better because it could have been like:"Okay heres our pop songs to show we still got it, but also heres our R&B songs showing that we are growing and evolving aswell"
Yes, I think they needed a mix of songs from some of the producers from the first two albums in addition to Darkchild and then an executive producer that could tie it all together sonically!
Well i been watching alot of Rodney Jerkins interviews cuz I’m a huge fan of his work and he worked with Spice Girls before he got to work with Destiny’s Child. He said Say My Name was the first song he did after finishing the Spice Girls album, it’s just that the Destiny’s Child album was released a year before Forever despite the album being finished in 1999.

I think if the girls had put more effort into the whole promotion of the album, it would have been more successful. There are so many tracks that I out right dislike but I think if they were given videos and single releases I would be able to connect to more. The ballads apart from Goodbye & Let Love Lead the Way are overly sappy and just fall flat for me. I love 'If You Want to have some fun', it is such a bop and should've been the next single. I would have loved to have seen them go all out in an American R&B music video 😎

I agree with almost everything y'all said. I am a huge spice girls fan but I would not buy a physical copy of this album. In a I'm glad mel c didn't put all her energy into this album because it would have took her time away from her first album Northern Star.

Well that's a hard one, so for a ballad I would have to say Why.
And for a upbeat track I'd say going down especially when it is preformed live. But I turn to you was how I was introduced to her so that will always have a special place for me.
This album was sadly their worst album by a country mile. Destiny's Child reject songs comprised most of the album. The ad libs throughout every single chorus were dreadful. Holler, Goodbye, Tell Me Why, Have Some Fun and Let Love Lead The Way are passable with the former 2 being up to par with their earlier catalogue, but the rest should've just been deleted. Having listened to the much superior pop version of Right Back At Ya, it's such a shame they decided to take the R&B route for the whole album. A 5/10 and that's being generous.

My favorites are If You Wanna Have some Fun because I love Victoria and Mel C solo. Tell Me Why because Victoria opens it and it's a diss song for Geri because she left them without telling anything and they were right, they had everything together as a group and she left to only last 2 seconds and crept back in the group after several flops. They could have done at least another 5 albums together but she left. My favorite ballad is Oxygen

Enjoy that review. I’ve grown to love the album. So much back story to this album. Their hearts weren’t in it anymore but they had contractual agreements. DC over produced it and took away the element of spice!

I like your reviews! I think Forever is definitely their most interesting album (with Geri leaving and the genre change) but, at least to me, it just doesn't have nearly as much personality as "Spice" and "Spiceworld". It's completely fine they wanted to try something new, but they should've taken the R&B genre and make it them (maybe a more mature version of Spice).
Some tracks are good but some sounded absolutely boring. It just sounded like they only put in enough interest to make it sound R&B in its most basic definition rather than playing around with it to make something fun and new.
Since you reviewed their first album sans Geri, I would love to hear your take on her first solo album, "Schizophonic".

The girls' vocals are great and the lyrical content is decent for the most part, but I struggle with how the songs are produced. I can only imagine the name of the album was inspired by how fucking long it took Darkchild to end some of these tracks!

Me as a non English speaker don’t really care about the lyrics, I’m more about the melody (most of the time) and I looove Weekend Love’s melody, plus Vicky’s vocals are just *chef’s kiss*
But I do agree the Forever album is kinda boring because of its production and excessive adlibs throughout the songs that feel SO out of place. For me they should’ve released the pop version of RBAY as a single back in 1999 since they already performed it at the Earls Curt show. And I’d definitely rearrange the album’s track list cause it’s so messy and I hate when an album it’s not cohesive lol
Also, IYWHSM should’ve definitely be a single, it’s my favorite b-side off the album and I can’t believe they simply didn’t appreciate its potential.

Melanie C's album is so good! I think the Spice Girls as a whole always had an RnB influence, especially with the first album, so I think all four girls were behind the sound at the time!

@@CCTVPOPS It was written in April 2000 in Miami right after the Brit Awards and Mel C getting her first number 1. Mel had made it clear by then that she'd moved on, she even wanted Geri to appear with them on stage at the Brits as a sort of finale moment. The others were definitely pissed with her at that time so I wouldn't be surprised.
You think wrong. Mel C couldn't sing those lyrics about herself and in april 2000 she still wanted to make the album. In fact she did it with them ahaha! She just couldn't record the vocals with the others because she was busy promoting her solo album. The 4 of them were singing about Geri obviously. Geri left in the middle of a tour leaving them in the chaos and then went solo just to last 2 minutes on her own. You wish this song was about mel c given that you spend all day and night on every spice girls video insulting her in every possible way ahaha
@@CCTVPOPS The song is about Geri. Geri left them in the middle of a tour without telling them her intentions. They had to rearrange everything. They were very hurt. In fact they also made it clear many times that they could sing and dance better without her, which was true but they said because they were hurt. Then they sang 'Your hopes and dreams will never be as good as what you had with me' and they were right. Geri went solo, lasted 2 seconds and went back in the group as quick as as a flash ahaha
