On Thanksgiving night, a group of disgruntled toy store employees begrudgingly arrive for work to open the store at midnight for the busiest shopping day of the year. Meanwhile, an alien parasite crashes to Earth in a meteor. This group of misfits led by store manager Jonathan (Bruce Campbell) and longtime employee Ken (Devon Sawa) soon find them themselves battling against hordes of holiday shoppers who have been turned into monstrous creatures hellbent on a murderous rampage on Black Friday.

I’ve worked retail on several Black Fridays, and this his how me and my coworkers looked at Black Friday shoppers.
Exactly, it is ridiculous I worked at Tops Appliances back in the 90's, it was hillarious how people ran into the store, they looked like crazy zombies. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This was a fantastic throwback to the campy movies that us horror fans fell in love with in the 80s and 90s. Great practical effects, good performances and a nice tight run time at an 1hr20. The filmmakers set out to make a fun, no nonsense B movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, with all the trappings that splatter fans can appreciate and Black Friday achieved this goal. Highly recommend this this one👌
This film was extremely disappointing for me. I thought it was pretty clever at first, but the writing, acting and script was bad, man. Really bad. Especially the acting by the infected. That's not campy, that's lazy. Seems like they tried to blend Harbinger Down, Slither and The Mist, which sounds great but the execution was very poor.

Really....? It was spitting in the face of the classic black comedies, it was utter trash. Terrible writing, terrible script and horrible acting. The only half decent part of it was Bruce Campbell but even he struggled to make the dreadful writing funny.
This better have AT LEAST one evil dead reference in it. I don't care if it's a chainsaw, a boom stick, Bruce telling someone to "gimme some sugar" or the word groovy. If none of these happen we riot!
The text font of the title looks very similar to the font of The Evil Dead

Besides the text of the title and look of some of the zombies that look very close to deadites, there's a moment where Bruce's character has one of them stuck between a bottom door and he's stomping on the door repeatedly, which is a close visual reference to him doing that as Ash to Henrietta with the fruit cellar door in Evil Dead 2.
I bet there is a scene where he is choosing a weapon, looks at a chainsaw and passes it over for something else.
Ash is going to defend himself from deadites again.

Glad to see Devon Sawa in a bigger role again; he was great in Hunter Hunter. Deserves more recognition.

I feel like this should have been an Evil Dead/Army of Darkness sequel with Ash(Bruce Campbell) working at S-Mart, but somewhere down the line the studio changed the concept to appeal to a wider audience.

Yea studios always avoid sequels to well known franchises in favour of original unproven titles... like that's a thing.......

It's actually pretty good. No cgi or techno music fight scenes. Just good ol fashioned campy horror. I enjoyed it.

@rudy2fat We know, it's just that we see the similarities between this movie and the musical. They have the same name (Black Friday), same genre (comedy-horror) with roughly the same premise, costumers turn in to zombies ( in the movies case they turn into real zombies while in the musical they become zombies for their cult). I feel it's just difficult for a lot of the musicals fans to see something so similar as a movie.
I don't expect the movie to be the same as the musical (as the musical is one of many in an interconnected multiverse) but also because I trust that this movie will be original.
Looks like some fun campy goodness. Great stuff!

This movie was really good minus a few things I didn’t care to see in the movie that I won’t speak about on here but I really liked it. A couple of the cast are my favorite actors. I watched it last November and am watching it now. One of my favorites.
Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa. Two men who had to cut off their possessed hand and fight it. That's a small, dreadfully specific club to be in. Love seein em side by side
