    Wow. That poor kid who boinked at 7-8 km. That was tough to watch. Never seen a leader quite crash like that. Hope he is ok. Lotta guys looked destroyed at the finish. Must have been hot out there.

    Three of these teams beat D1 Arkansas at the Razorbacks home event. Arkansas finished 4th in the D1 championship. There is LOTS of talent in D2 cross country. Go Augustana!

      While those D2 teams are really good and did beat Arkansas at chili pepper Arkansas didn't run their A squad. I believe the only person that ran at chili pepper and nationals for them was Richter.

      I was at the Chile Pepper and have gone for years. For some odd reason, Arkansas does not care about their meet whatsoever. It's almost as if it's just a paycheck for their program. I was so excited to watch the Razorbacks this year at the meet, and they barely had any guys in, and the ones they had were not their A team.

      Not to shit on it but that was a B team from Arkansas lol these guys are great yes but don’t pretend these teams can match the top D1 teams 😂

    I finished @ the NCAA Division ll Championship as the first individual and took fifth place in 30:18.20 in 1979 in California at the U.C. Riverside, CA. Cal-Poly won the meet with 45 points and placed runners in 1st, 4th, 6th, 17th, 22nd, and 25th. They had six All- Americans and destroyed Sacramento State (108) points and Eastern Illinois (157) points. The winning time was James Schankel in 29:43.08 and missed the National record by a mere one second! Second was a 29:55.12 by a kid from U.C. Riverside. The top six earned a trip to Div.l NCAA where Henry Rono beat Alberto Salazar in 28:19.30 over a very very hilly 10,000 meter course at Leigh University in Penn. and broke the existing course record by over one minute. Salazar ran a 28:37.40 for second. Both Olympians and World record Holders!! I took 97th place (31:04.1) out of 243 top tier athletes, and Schankel took 15th in 29:34.20 from Cal-Poly San Luis Obs. My Sophomore year in Div.lll I finished in 8th place from a school back east before transferring to U. of Northern Colorado and its first All-American in X-C and a Div.I invite!

    PROPS to that kid who gave it everything!!! YOLO!! This is it!! Nobody gives it their all at work, most don't really try hard enough in anything in life.....afraid to fail.....not this kid!!! Maybe some kids will give you some crap, but in the long-run you will be proud of your effort. It's not like you lost in the last 10 meters......you tried to win.

    This is the craziest they went out to fast in cross country at this level I’ve seen. The top 4 from the start all fell apart.

    I was right there when Powell was forced to drop out. It was horrible to watch. It was clear that he never gave up, but his body did. There was way too far for him to keep going and unfortunately he smacked right into the wall.

    Why do D1 and 2 guys run 10k instead an 8k?

    • @savell234
      @savell234 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      real question is why do D3 run 8k. 10k been standard mens distance since it was 6 miles...

    • @timroden6617
      @timroden6617 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know but I know it has been that way since I could remember. NAIA would do 8k as well.

    • @jeffreykicia6534
      @jeffreykicia6534 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because D1 and D II are upper tier divisions and DIII and the NAIA are considered lower tier levels.
