    Bruh great vid. I think key info is anything up to 300bhp you can get away with OEM box and maybe a panel filter is good idea. Over 300bhp you need a oversized filter. And run a cold air feed duct from the bumper up to the filter additional to the OEM one. I've had stage 1 and 2 1.8t 225 bam engines and found the airbox and panel filter is better for less heat soak losses. I removed the ramair filters on both and went back to stock box and k&n filter panel. Much better response on the throttle and in the summer less power loss.

    Amazing explanation and simple at the same time. Thanks a lot for the heads up. Ive installed the proram on my ep3 honda civic, after relocated the battery in the boot. It feels the car breaths much better but its still stock. Cant really tell if there is a better performance. Im just afraid to tune it as it has 260k on the clock, but lets see. Anyway, amazing content!

    The only reason I have a K&N filter is to avoid throwing a filter each year into a landfill. 17 years ago I got it for my 2001 TT Roadster. For a stock engine a higher airflow capable filter does little to nothing for performance. So far 17 filters and boxes saved from landfills. Ramon Cardona that’s a great point & would have no doubt earnt it’s keep and Saved you a few pounds / dollars. even on a stock car it would benefit from a filter regardless of performance gain as it’s less restricted so it makes getting the necessary airflow easier to achieve. Desert green is a beautiful colour

    Just Tip'd and Ram Air'd my 180Q tonight... Jeez it's wooshy...till about 3-4k and it quietens down. My thinking is the N75 is keeping the DV open low rpm and closing it off mid to high rpm... Question is when you mapped your car after the Tip and cone kit... did it quieten down? I.e. Can the noise be tuned out.

    Hi Dominic, another grat video. Let my explain my experience with air filters. I did a research on the web and finally decided to order Ramair XL (foam) for my TT 225.
    I wanted to see how much could increase power. I did several logs for that and the results were not as I expected. The maf only was reading only 2g/s -3g/s more than with stock filter. This is ridiculous!!! So I do not understand where is the gain... I did not noticed any diference of the car , ¿do I need to remap to get any benefit for that change?
    Yes, bigger suction sound but it is not for me. I am getting old with 43 years 🤣
    No the performance gain was ridiculous so I decided to remove and put oem filter again.
    Congrats for your video again.
    Dominic, I see all your videos and most of them have been really helpfull. Hope you will make more content. I would like to contribute for that and buy you merchandising if possible. Let me know please.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, in the stock case you are probably right the car can already get most of the air flow it needs, so unless you increase the tip size, and or map it the car will not demand more air. Although you have made the path less resistant and therefore less effort required to obtain air which is always good.
      Thanks appreciate the support, not really looked too much into merch, getting my stickers made and might do a few bits next year when the world hopefully opens up a bit and allows me to go visit company’s and discuss and Film openly

    • @TheParrottBros

      @@TheParrottBros Inner MAF sensor code is the exact same; at least on early models, the APX engine. It's worth checking this because it's also almost half the price because of stock and number of models it was used in. To be exact, 06A906461D and 06A906461E has the same f 00C 2G2 040 in them. :D

      Ram air state the following: Ramair filters owe much of their dirt retaining properties to the unique advanced polymer treatment with which they are impregnated during manufacture. They can be given a new lease of life when they become heavily soiled by cleaning them thoroughly with Ramair polymer solvent cleaner and applying fresh Treatment to the foam filter material

    Alright boys i need little help. I got my 225 to stage 1 and after few weeks i started to have problem with boost. One day i was driving put my leg to the floor and boom no boost just simple 1.8 pull. I thought it was a problem with n75 so i have order new one from audi and boost was back. I took it for few runs and it was fine. But after one week after new n75 i did the same thing i put my foot and again all the boost is gone just simple 1.8 pull. I replaced all four coils and boom boost is back but not for long. Now for some reason when i drive sometimes boost is on and sometimes there is no boost. Like a lottery i put my foot down boost next gear boost is gonne. Any sugestions what is causing boost one and off thing. I was checking forums out but no one ever posted solution when they finally manged to get the boost issue fixed.

      DjMrowa could quite possibly have a broken or dodgy wire as when your disturbing it by changing parts it sorts it for a little while. The cable can be broken inside but the insulation is ok. I had this exact issue with mine when I got it apart from it was permanently in limp mode haha. Unplug the n75 and with a multi meter measure from ground to both pins one at a time. You should have 12v at one and 3-5v at the other. ( when the cars running)
      Wiggle the cables around whilst you are testing it and see if you can see any issues on the meter. Quite a common issue.
      May not be that but a good starting point.
      Also has it logged any codes ?

      @@TheParrottBrosI thought it may be this problem. I did watch your previous video when you were talking about that problem. No codes recorded. But the truth is your wasting your money and in some cases power.
    Don't you think Audi who spent millions in design etc wouldn't fit an efficient system.
    I've watched loads of comparison vids using rolling roads etc and the usual winner is the stock paper element !
    Some spent £100s on ram air cones etc, total waste of money, some case's even down on power.
    The only advantage is the noise gain but as an adult I can live without 😯

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stuart Hall where are you seeing these videos?! I’ve watched plenty of videos showing power gains, read research on said subjects, been at a tuners where we have changed a filter between runs and proven its use when altering the mapping on a car.
      Yes manufactures spend millions on research to hone in the air box and cold air feed but that is based on stock power, stock pipework and such. Gains have been proven time and time again by tuners all over the world.
      You can get similar gains from cheaper filters over some of the more expensive stuff but you may want it for aesthetic‘s as well as performance. That’s personal choice.
      wak-tt.com/mods/inductiontests/inductiontests.htm
      Here is just one example of said testing,

      I've watched so many I'll have to go look up in my history.
      It's not a personal dig at you btw I was just making a general statement.
      I think the most recent one involved a powerful BMW on a rolling road, they took stock bhp then fitted various filter combinations.
      The stock paper filter won !
      Maybe it would take the ecu time to adjust increased airflow ? They didn't allow for this.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stuart Hall that’s fair enough buddy, I appreciate the comment and the honesty. In some cases you may well be right. I know in my
      S4 the you fit a high flow panel filter to the box and that will flow an extra 160hp without the need for an open cone filter. Madness really. I think the newer cars manufactures better understanding performance and adapt that better than older cars
