I love how personal these reading vlogs feel. It’s almost like we’re having a FaceTime conversation with Jack while he reads. There’s not as much editing and it’s more random, but it’s comforting and funny.

@@ESPHMacD I'm studying the actual degree, it's a master's course in translation. I'm a bit torn because you don't need the actual degree to become a translator which obviously opens this profession up to a lot of people but at the same time, for someone like me who studied it, it's frustrating to see other people be more successful even though they haven't studied and it don't have the knowledge about the actual translation process that I have.

@@ESPHMacD you can look up the university of Geneva, im studying in translation over there and they have a really good bachelor and master (im doing the one on specialized translation, its great). its not only in french, you can have classes in and translate from other languages too (but still you need to know a bit of french)

Enjoyed your vlog once again and again breathing in and out gratitude to finding your channels this March when I really got back into reading after a bit of a slump.
I have recently completed some stellar books due to your recommendations and appreciate it beyond belief. I have also read books that are greatly hyped or on best seller lists and the let down is sadder than a toddler with a deflated balloon.
The goodness you shared with me first, was Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I adored the message. I really cried a lot at the end because I’ve been dealing with the loss of my Mom just last summer and I love how Kei returns and is smiling and crying and says she gets it. She realizes nothing has changed, but the person’s heart has changed.
I also know I am late to the party, but A Man Called Ove was another book I just could not stop crying about and trying to explain to my husband and daughter the world I was living in all day and night straight through with Ove, the cat, and all of his neighbors who would not leave him alone. I also laughed so hard. I didn’t expect it to be so funny. This was one of the best reads for me this year.
I trusted you even though there’s been some hype and my first Taylor Jenkins Reid was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. There was so much to unpack in that story and so many layers to the relationships and the twists the story took. It just reaffirmed there is nothing more important than love and family.
I am normally a big fan of Sophie Kinsella because I think she’s a bit like a modern day Jane Austen, but then I read Book Lovers by Emily Henry and that was one of my other top 4 reads of 50 books so far this year. She’s really a modern day Austen. The quote I keep telling everyone from her book is, “For a decade I’ve known that never again will I have everything, and all I have wanted is to believe that, someday, again I’ll have enough. The ache won’t always be so bad. People like me aren’t broken beyond compare. The ice won’t freeze too thick to thaw and the thorns won’t grow too dense to be cut away. “
So if you haven’t read Book Lovers or all of Sophie Kinsella’s books you definitely should.
The only other book I can offer which is in my top four this year is a memoir written by Andre Agassi called OPEN. He was an American tennis player in the ‘80’s and 90’s and was in love with Brooke Shields, but really the female tennis player Stefanie Graf and he got to meet all kinds of famous people once he won Wimbledon and the French Open and the US Open the first times. He met Barbra Streisand and had a great connection because they were both actually quite shy and he met Nelson Mandela. But his storytelling is quite compelling. I couldn’t put it down and I’m an average tennis fan, definitely not an enthusiast. His stories are raw and honest and his pain and frustrations are gripping and I could not put the book down. I keep recommending and everyone who knows I only recommend really good books has loved it. I hope you get the chance to read it, too.
You have tipped my TBR to just over 600 now. But to be fair it was in the 300s in March after a period of illness and loss and struggles. I am so happy to just be reading again and I owe some of these best books to your content. Thank you.

The way you describe Idol reminds me a lot of Melanie Martinez former friend coming out about her SAing her, while Melanie said it was consensual. She also indicated the hypocrisy of MM being a figure of the issues vocalized in her song lyrics, and having a lot of girls look up to her. As well, a bunch of clearly biased fans would dig up things and cite them as supposed proof of MM's innocence based on arbitrary facts.
