- We love to hit the road, but the summer heat makes it pretty difficult to camp year-round. In this mini-series, we are converting our cargo trailer into a camper! This project will be on a budget, so we are reusing all the demoed pieces as much as we can. We are also adding insulation and AC to make this trailer the coolest camping spot!

Thank you Ambition Strikes for leading me to your site, I enjoy your videos.
"Carrying livestock, I got me a heifer" was classic, 😆 almost died laughing. Mollys' face made it funnier.
I was ABSOLUTELY thrilled to see you on Ambition Strikes….what a GREAT collaboration the five of you soon to be six of you will be now and years to come!!!!!!
So fun!! Thanks so much for watching!
"do you wanna die" LOLL
That baby bump is getting noticeable. Lovely 😍. I can't wait to see the outcome of the camper project. God bless!
I think I doubled in size this week🤣
Good job on insulation, hopefully you find all the water leaks and fix before you get mold. If you have any insulation left over put it under the floor and spay with bed liner or something.
Another awesome video Molly and Dylan.
Can't wait to see the finished product!
So excited already to go camping!
I see ya'll representing the foo. Thats the main place we can rely on.
I would put the plug on the wall. Every RV manufacturer can't be wrong by putting them on the wall.
I agree. If that AC unit has condensation that ends up the floor it will end up puddling up. Not the place you want your electrical connections.
Not even that. Underneath, it's going to take a beating from debris on the road like rocks and even water on rainy days.
He did a video on campers and tried to explain them during his teardrop build that was so wrong.......But he is an expert, not RV companies! I do love this channel!
You guys make me look forward to Mondays!
Yayy!! 🤗
We wired our Transit using a Noco power inlet with two plugs on the end like you. If we have shore power, we plug the "house" into the Noco plug and the 12v wiring into a convertor.
If we are not on shore power, I plug the 12v wiring (puck lights, USB port, MaxxAir fan, underglow lights, etc.) and the AC wiring into either an Ecoflow Delta 1300 or a Delta Max, and it works great. We have two 200w Newpowa solar panels, and a Victorian DC to DC charger and we are good rain or shine. We also use a home rolling GE 8,000 BTU AC if we need AC, but we avoid hot weather camping like the plague! We have our van build series on our channel and folks like it (it is not monetized) and we filmed just for a personal record of our van build.
So glad to see you on Ambition Strikes TH-cam channel! Looking forward to seeing them visit you on your TH-cam channel! I have been watching their channel longer than yours & I believe because I subscribed to them years ago is why TH-cam suggested your channel & of course I subscribed to yours as well! You both have great content! Definitely looking forward to your collaboration & your new family addition as soon as the baby arrives!
Is the ambition strikes video taken down. I don't see it
@@suhaylabed711 I watched it Sunday just after Ambition Strikes posted it on TH-cam. I don’t think it was taken down.
I would have put the power plug on the side wall. With it in the floor gravity is working against it staying connected.
So glad to add you to my subscription list! Watched Ambition Strikes yesterday and if they recommend you that’s good enough for me! Have watched a few of your first videos to get caught up, I’ll get there, and today I watched the latest! Love your content as well as your personalities! Thinking I’m going to enjoy your channel!
Welcome over!! Thanks so much for watching🤗🤗
👍👍👍👍👍🫵🪨 can’t wait to see the camper done and I hope you had a good time up there in the mountains.
I’ve seen that truck complete and up on the shelf and yes, I’ve seen the other video already. I’ve been subscribed to them for a while. It’s not just the belly that’s growing lol my ex my ex-wife grew up top two that adds weight as well.
Really dude? Come on, man, show some respect for her.
Great video can’t wait to see it finished
The more you work on that trailer the more you realize why it was such a killer deal.
Nice work guys! Just a tip - foil faces only work as a radiant barrier if there is an air gap (at least a few inches) on the foil side. The way you installed it basically makes the foil face useless. It would have been better to have the foil facing inwards so you can reflect inside temp.
We likely won’t ever do much heating in this so we chose foil out and there is about an 1/8” gap that should have some amount of effectiveness.
Looks very good you gave me some tips on insulation in a metal building
Love your videos guys! Keep up the great work and content!
Appreciate it!!
Nice👏👏👏
We used to own a 4x8 and then later, a 6x8 Runaway square drop camper. They were very easy to tow and we loved having it for easy camping.
Then we bought an empty 2018 Ford Transit 250 medium roof cargo van and converted it into a beautiful camper. It is much more comfortable. We will never have anything bigger because we like to be able to park in a normal parking spot and be more nimble - you might say. Be safe.
Absolutely! We used to have a transit connect that we converted and LOVED it! This trailer is more of a weekend getaway, but can still get materials during the week type of thing🤗
Love the idea of a dual purpose trailer! Looking forward to the rest of the build assuming Molly lets Dylan back out after his livestock jokes! 😂
Hey Dylan, an idea that’s late in the build, but take your tractor and carefully lift trailer up and put camper underbelly material on bottom with styrofoam insulation.
Chick-fa-lay for pregnancy. That brought back memories 🤣👍. All the best to you guys.
Complaining about water leaks and installs the door window without sealant. Smooth move exlax
Love your channel, found you on the guys you went and visited in Idaho with the big surprise. Better watch those Heifer jokes you will be sleeping permanently in the trailer. LOL Since joining your channel I am going to do a marathon of all your videos from the beginning . Be safe and much love from Switzerland.
Thanks so much! And welcome over!! 🤗
In some construction trailers, the gap will be left on the sides of the floor to let fluids drain out, that way you don’t have to clean the floor as much. trailer is good practice for insulation the new workshop when the walls go up. When you mentioned the bluetti, made me think to ask about solarw panels on the roof? So you din’t take it on the trip?
Ambitious strikes put 2 inch foam on floor
Yes we all know you going to go see Ambition Strikes and I thought you might like to help fix the dozer lol
Watch those Heifer jokes or you might wake up dead :) another great video.
🙂☕ Great video. Dylan, be careful with the livestock humor. You may have already eaten today, but be careful down the road if she says that she made something "special" for you for dinner. Payback is tough. Remember, women just keep getting more and more beautiful each week when they are expecting, us men folk just keep getting older. You two are great!
And this was the last video we ever say Dylan in Molly taking over
Sounds like you've been hanging around Cletus
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Curious how much this insulation job cost y’all. I know supply prices can vary depending on location, but if I had the same size/style of cargo trailer and walked into my local Home Depot to purchase the EXACT same materials, it would be a $600 project.
*INSULATION FOAM BOARDS- $505*
I’m estimating 16 foam boards for the 7x14 trailer (sides, ceiling, nose).
Where I’m at they’re $35ea w/tax, so $560 for 16. Luckily a nominal bulk/contractor price discount kicks in at 10+ units, but 16 sheets will still cost $505.
*FOIL TAPE- $62*
Using your 500-600 foot estimate, I’d need 4 rolls. There are many varieties of foil tape and this was the only thing used where I couldn’t identify the exact product used. Using common sense, context clues, and eyeballing what I presume to be a new roll of foil tape, I believe you used the Nashua extra wide (2.83in) multi purpose foil tape in 50 yard length. In my local Home Depot these are just over $15 per roll after tax. Now if you decided to use the same brand/size in their Extreme Weather option, the price per roll doubles.
*SPRAY FOAM- $30*
You said you’d already used 4 1/2 cans and needed more, so I estimated 6 cans. A 12oz can of the product used in this vid (Great Stuff- Gaps & Cracks) is just shy of $5. So 6 of those is $30.
Obviously the insulation boards are the biggest expense in the project. I will say that as far as what’s available to me, there is similar product, with a lower R value that would be significantly cheaper, but it’s not as good. Sheet size is the same, 4’ x 8’ with 1 inch thickness. However, instead of R-6.0, it’s rated R-3.85. The cost for 16 sheets would be $250. That price reflects the $28 bulk/contractors pricing discount I mentioned previously. So it COULD be done for about $342 vs $600.
Are you going to seal around the outside
More than likely!
@@Woodbrew awesome beautiful tape keeps everything out
Oh Dillon, you do know women never forget. One day or many years from now Molly will get you back for that joke. You wont see it coming and it will probably hurt. Have a time while your away.... muahahaha!
He’ll get it back for sure🤣
Your making geep for Tyler on amoshon strike
😁
wow you think things will square in the trailer because MFG wants it that way, they don't care and they build them and put them out to make money and that all
Factory garbage
