I’m kind of shocked that the HT impact driver did better than Milwaukee with the smaller battery. Also, crazy how much better the HT drill runs on the larger battery. I had heard the 1.5s were weak but interesting to see in actual testing.
I almost went out and bought this exact drill earlier today and I thought, let me see if anyone has a video. You’re the only guy to my knowledge that has a video on this model. I can’t say I’m disappointed in the hyper tough, but I wanted to buy it for work (mainly for drilling holes through metal electrical enclosures, holes for pop rivets, etc.) and I don’t know if it’s quite up for the task. Thank you for the detailed yet straight to the point video. Excellent content sir.
I'm glad I could help. I think it's a decent drill at the price point - but I do think it's tailored more to the lighter duty side of things. It's nice to seeing them stepping up though.
got mine for 149 plus a friends mlitary discount came out to be like 120..... manager even gave a bit more I did not want to spend money but at that price for 10 tools hard to say no.
I had the Milwaukee Gen 3’s but gave them to a friend who was getting into the trades and I’m moving to just my own DIY stuff. I got the 3/8 impact and the brushless drill and I love the drill. It’s almost more comfortable than the m12 and works great with wire brushes to clean rust off car components. I’m probably gonna pick up the Impact driver now because I know I’m gonna want it eventually for the size and comfort of use, and I’d rather get it on sale now.
See, back when TwT was doing the Hercules comparison with Milwaukee and Dewalt, I was hoping for a comparison to tools in a similar budget range like Skil and Hyper Tough, maybe non-HP Ryobi.
I’ll have to see what I can come up with. I don’t own non Hp Ryobi that I would recommend current and I don’t have Skil or Hyper tough 18-20v tools but if I ever do I’ll make a video.
My budget 12v solution is buying bosch 12v used or on sale. I paid $100 for the brushless installation driver kit new, and $30 for brushless drill and impact with no batteries used. Used one handed recipt with battery for $40. Also got a 6ah battery for $70 new. I bet that hypertough beats the bosch impact in performance though 😂.
The Bosch brushless drills in the 12v lineup are decent and well made but their impact driver and OMT are pretty sluggish in terms of performance. I think I bought on similar sale to what you did. I got their 12v OMT and 12v router for a combined $46 one day.
@@TinkerWithTools the reciprocating saw is just as bad but the smallest option if you want to cut pvc in tight spaces. The gsr12v-300 flexiclick and drill are both excellent. The impact just functions as a 3rd wheel for holding an obscure bit, the drill and multi head driver get almost all the action. I agree the omt isn't good, vibrates and cuts slowly. The planer, router, grinder and cut off tool are great for their size.
I have both but personally like using the Hypertough more they seem more ergonomic to me. I build a lean to roof with the Hypertough 6ah battery and everything went great
Really surprised at the performance of the m12 impact driver with the 2ah battery. Everyone tests it with 4ah and up and it felt like a monster. With 2ah, it felt really slow and when the battery is at 50%, performance really drops off. You have to do a test with m12 Impact against the Dewalt 12v Extreme. Both with 2ah. I know you have done it, but with 6ah and 5ah I believe.
I have done an older video where the old Gen 2 M12 vs the DEWALT impact i believe but you are right I have done this generation on the smaller battery specifically.
@@TinkerWithTools This is true, lol i own these to carry in my go bag along couple other HT . As well as multiple milwaukee m12/18 tools for my home shop, obviously people havnt priced any milwaukee batteries in the last decade! great upload/content.
@TinkerWithTools waiting on my 870 to come in and I'm gonna start my own review channel. If your interested i could give you my email and mail you my m12 cut off tool for the test.
I love that so many budget brands are stirring things up a bit and making a comeback

Definitely liked & subscribed to you by the way as well. Happy new year!

And Happy New Year to you as well.
Skil 12v 10 piece kit on sale from lowes 199$ right now by far best value tool brand.
Hard to be for someone who needs an impact and drill, especially light DIY
@@TitanRaider23 idk if they even make money at this point just trying to get the brand out there and turned around.
It's $150 now.

The sale price makes it a nice deal for sure.
Great video as always! Would love to see Hyper Tough 12v vs Bosch 12v.
I have some further 12v comparison videos coming up.
@@TinkerWithTools I'd be curious how the hypertough drill stacks up against the bosch gsr12v-300 rated at 300 inch lbs.
I’ll be sure to do a test @ssiven

Why not use the 4ah battery as well for milwaukee
I only have one M12 4.0 and it seems to have gone missing during my recent move.
they make 15 dollar fast charger and 6ahbatteries which might make it bit closer

Thanks for sharing your experience with them.
The 6ah hyper tough is supposed to be really good? A faster hyper tough charger is only 15usd.
How much faster will it get on the barrel charger?

check out their 12v laser level next please
I’ll look into it.
Hyper tough should include the bigger battery and better charger. The price you pay for upgrades is to high I might as well pay for better tools.
Yeah when they are hitting the $30-40 price point I imagine something has to give.
And the price would be higher. That's how money works outside of fantasy land.
