This was very entertaining to watch honestly and very insightful. Just rewatched you CWC match with Tajiri and I thought you did great. It is really odd to me they did not sign you honestly you seem to have everytging they would look for in a wrestler. Your positivity is very inspiring and you defiently gained a subscriber. Also I love how all the aussie wrestlers seem like such a tight knit community. Is another tryout possible for you in the future still? they seem to be signing much older guys these days or maybe you thought about other conpanies like IMPACT or ROH.
Thanks mate. I’d say tryouts are highly unlikely until Covid clears but who knows. I’m not holding my breath for something to happen but I’d also never count myself out.
This was thoroughly enjoyable. I have several friends, students and acquaintances who are in the WWE, AEW, NXT, et. al. I have been hearing about the bigs as everyone would get tryouts or developmental deals, so I’m familiar with the trials and tribulations/triumphs and tragedies. I love the candor which you tell your story as well your respect for the business and the people involved. Of any of our common acquaintances EPW or Perth(ians/ites/ers) not a one has a bad word to say about you. I wanted to let you know that quite the contrary, you have been a positive influence and absolutely awesome for the wrestling community, not to mention a magnificent ambassador for your country/continent. I love the fact that you are a teacher by trade as I am in my 21st year in education, so I enjoy your incorporating your teaching style when it comes to rasslin. Hey Damian! First off I want to say your videos are extremely helpful and have help inspirired me to chase my dreams of becoming a pro wrestler. And I appreciate that! Anyways here's the crack: I'm 17 years of age, from the UK, I am 6ft 2inches tall and weigh around 200Ibs. I've been in martial arts for the past 4 years (kickboxing and karate) so I guess you could say I've got some sort of an athletic background. I'm starting my first ever pro wrestling session tomorrow so if there was any advice you could give me now that you know my story, what would it be? Thank you!
Dig the background,.Love tht u use the real ropes,.Do u utilize a drop and hook,Or and center spring ''breakdown'' style ring?.Over the yr's here in the states the center spring rings are almost non existant.But i will say from personal experience that.Using future foam does make for a softer bump i mean,The damn woods under there how hard does a dump need to be and,Also i found with those spring centered rings.U can do alot more highrep/High impact bump drills and training with alot less injury.Be safe ,stay healthy M8t ..very good channel.
@@damianslater Nice brother,..And old trick to soften that spring up..take afew plate weights and put them into afew ruck sacks,And sit them in the center of the ring overnight for about ah week,..Screw that wrestling cell foam,..Use about 5 layers of that carpet padding under a nice clean tight canvas,. lil xtra over the spring does wonders
I can' believe you didn't pass the tryout. I mean you are really talented in wrestling. Looked how sophiscated your submission move. Besides that, you have the look. I mean what i had seen in Wwe all the main stars are good looking and you are handsome too. Therefore I cannot believe you don't pass it because you have the packages to be a wwe superstar. However, I still believe you can be a big name in wrestling with or without WWE.
Hey Damian excuse my long comment but I have seen some people make it past tryouts with no prior pro-wrestling experience. There's even people that have made it on the roster that had no prior experience. I was wondering would I even have any chance if I was able to pass the physical tests, was easily coach-able, and had minor improv skills for a gimmick? I am just 24 years old mainly a dancer but with track, muay thai, gymnast, and theater experience. I've been able to be apart of many production shows, performances, and competitions to have my choreography down to a T and travel to do stuntman work as a small gig when the chances come. as a kid up until my late teens I wanted to pro-wrestle really badly but realized the opportunity of indie schools weren't in my area and real life had come through and I couldn't move to a place where there was one so along the way I picked up other skills and interests. Now I'm at a point in my life where I really want to get into wrestling before I get any older as it combines my love for improv, stunts, athleticism, and choreography. But I am here wondering before I try to apply on the performance center website if I should consider getting some indie work under my belt after covid or just do a try out regardless of pro-wrestling experience. I've also have heard/read that it can be a good thing to not have experiences so that I have no bad habits. again sorry for my long comment. TL;DR 24 year old with a lot of backgrounds in other things that aren't pro-wrestling and wondering if I can get a try out or pass a try out without prowrestling experience.
Excellent question! From my experience I would say, just do the tryouts. Yes, I would recommend getting some wrestling training in as soon as you can to both give you a little fundamental knowledge and to show them that you want it badly enough and aren’t here for the wrong reasons... however many of the talent who are signed from WWE tryouts have zero days of Pro Wrestling training under their belt. Your outside experience would be a major plus!

hello, do you think that in the nearly future WWE will still be interested in creating their own homegrown talents? In my country it's really hard to start your journey as professional wrestler, however i'm doing a lot of stuff outside of wrestling ring, not professionally but still. And also i'm not from country where english is the native language and thanks to that i can speak more languages than English (i heard that might be important for them). I'm talking only about an invitation for the tryout, not giving contract straight into my hands. I know that a lot of people are saying that without of years of experience or having a strong athletic background it's almost impossible to get into the business but maybe there's a chance? for a couple of years i'm doing a lot of strength and conditioning workouts to be prepared for the tryout, i would not like to to be declined just because i don't have years of experience or professional athletic background. Do you think that there's a small chance that i'll get an opportunity and let's say be one of the 80 people on the future tryout? I saw a couple of your videos, and you seems like a reasonable person to ask, so i'll be waiting for a response. :)
I think there is always a chance, but it does seem like you need some form of athletic background. Or at least have some other kind of experience in the entertainment industry. Otherwise, why would they select someone with no experience or notable talents for a tryout over thousands of others who apply for the spot? Speaking another language has always been something I've heard they appreciate, but I'd be guessing that you need more than just that.

Generally business wear would be required for a tryout, yes. These things are communicated though. As for charisma, you can display that anywhere. How would a charismatic person look walking down the street? Standing in a line? Apply that to the way you do your cardio, rolls, or even resting waiting for your turn. Show emotion!

There are still quite a few spring centred rings here and yeah they’re quite a bit stiffer but better for the knees.

Summer slam 2021 wwe tryouts are coming you can give your life a chance. Maybe they sign you. I think so you have a lot of potential. I see in you.
