    My Spark battery would not charge/failed by “smart dji charger “. I found another video to take apart battery case. Once circuit board was exposed i used a cheap single cell lipo charger to charge the cells one by one using contacts on exposed board. I charged them to ~3v then tried to charge it back on DJI charger and it worked, now fully charged.

    What upsets me about DJI is you can still buy the Spark, NIB from online retailers. But batteries are no longer available. I have 2 Sparks, I have hundreds of flights on them and the batteries are going bad. My Sparks are like new, Never been crashed, they still take excellent videos and stills. DJI should still make batteries available or allow aftermarket companies to make them and a kit to replace the cells.

    Folks, I almost wrote off my FOUR spark batteries for dead after I had not touched them for 2 years. They were totally unresponsive. They came to life on the THIRD mini USB cable I tried...and I also used a 3A USB wall charger instead of the standard 1A and 2A wall chargers that most are rated at. Use a 3A charger and try several USB cables. All four of my batteries came to life with that cable.

    • @travispoulin252
      @travispoulin252 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have any idea what the cable was from? What adapter are you using? I am using the dji 3A adapter and cable that came with it. I get the 2 flashing lights but it won't charge and after like an hour the lights stop blinking. I also tried charging from a 3A battery pack with the dji cable and no luck. This spark was never even flown because it was a gift to my father and he never even tried it.

    • @RottBit77
      @RottBit77 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, I'm noy sure about thecables but maybe higher queality cables would help make the charge work better.
      I bought a bunch of Spark drones and various other DJI drones including video equipment at reasonable deals to resell at Xmas. Unfortunally, I was hospitalized for a period of time and finally got better but by the time I dug out the drones it was 2 years later and a lot of batteries that felt like they werte to be paperweights. However, after reading some responses from people using higher voltage and different types of chargers it reminded me of the DeWalt solution. Where, I forced higher voltage into my dewalt batteries for a short period to make them work again. So, I tried using my son’s RC car lipo plus multi-charger (that has veariable settings for different types of batteries) and connected it to the Spark battery. After like 15-20 minutes it forced voltage or a charge into it and basically broke the lock on the “Hybernation” that went below and beyond the help of a regular charge from a DJI charger. But once you do it you can go back to using the DJI chargers like you did when you were flying and using them regularly. Remember, when you store a drone it’s advised to charge the batteries up to a 100%. DJI has made these batteries “smart” so they discharge over a 10 day period to something like 65-70% to prevent swelling. But if you don’t charge them every month or so they’ll continue to discharge little by little. Then, hopefully you’re not like me you finding yourself a couple years later with near 30 batteries that are bricks. Though, you will need to jury rig a connection but Roy’s pin out for the battery is correct so go by that. It’s an easier method which is not costly and simple to do basically. If it doesn’t work for you than go onto more “involved” methods. But either way it’ll be easier for you bto do it for a few batteries than having to do it to 30 batteries, one by one… I got them all working except for one that is only holding an 60% charge… Good luck. Try this method before blowing money on unnecessary stuff…

    I have two dead batteries - both have LEDs 1 & 2 flash 4 times when I try to charge them, but no other activity. If these things didn't cost $100 now, I would just buy new ones! I hooked up a CP2112 and a 12VDC 2A power supply per the pinout. I can immediately read from the chip and initially when I plug it in, the voltages look LOW, but they're there. I unseal it and clear the faults But instead of doing any charging, the cell voltages just slowly drop. It's gotten as low as 900Mah per cell before I stopped. But the weird thing is that when I disconnect and reconnect it, the cells start back up around 1400mAh. I'm baffled. Are they BOTH internally shorted, but not enough to actually kill them, or am I just doing something wrong?

The bms that don't do this function need an external jump start. Question, what is FAILING on these dji batteries that need a program reset? great video should edit out the mistakes parts. i figured it out why there are 2 side by side positive and negative sets and why only one set will charge. One set is for power going in as in charging the battery and the other set is for power going out as in power going to the spark. so if you made your own battery you would attach it to the complementary contacts on the spark for the set that you can not charge through.

      FYI... Your post was shadow banned, for the usual unknown reason.
      DJI probably could ease up on the firmware with older versions so they can be more easily modded, but you know DJI does whatever the CCP tells it to do.
      I just got into my Mavic Air (1) battery, using a $10 CP2112 interface chip and the "Battery Killer". So (assuming everything else goes well), cost wise, not bad. But you need to know how to handle electronics (few people who upload TH-cam videos do), solder, and use utilities.

    Do you know what the BMS Chip number is for the spark, I bought an EV2300 but the drivers are giving me hell & TRB cant find the adaptor.. Yeah I wouldn’t updated to Windows 11 it kind of messes with everything you own cause there’s no drivers typically out there even for printers I don’t know the chipset offset in my head I work on too many of these batteries but if I remember next week I will

    • @andrewmiller5311
      @andrewmiller5311 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Figured out the issue. It was the firmware on the EV2300. I bought a cheap one off ebay from China. You can't hardcode one unless you have a second EV2300 to do it. Patrick from Patboon.labs was really helpful. We set up a Virtual box in Win 10 to load Win XP. Patch the Ev and then killed the Virtual box to load the firmware.up to Win 7 which TRB recognised. Revived my 3 batteries that had been dormant for 2 years.

    • @andrewmiller5311
      @andrewmiller5311 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your video was very helpful and showed me what I needed to do. The batteries will last a long time dormant. You just need to free the from the PF (permanent fail). Mine were all in the high 2800mA range even after being dormant for years. Many thanks for taking the time to record it..
