Some time ago, SNK released some sprites from the cancelled Garou Mark of the Wolves 2, that was pretty far in develop but they could not release after the bankrupt. In the sprites you can see new characters that would appear in Garou 2, included the Joe Higashi disciple, a girl with tan that use the same guard stance than Joe, you can google it.
Is it bad that I am so used to KoF nemesis characters being total psychopaths that when Shoryu said Hwa realized the error of his ways and became friends with Joe, that I was expected the trademark "Like hell he did!" afterwards.

I love Joe for him and for Sagat is that now i love Muay Thai. Joe is awesome and i love him. Even if he is the funny character, he is serious when he fights and he fights with honor and proud.
FF timeline Joe still has a chance with Lily since she didn't saw the misunderstanding and now training a young disciple Kuan which sadly all these years hasn't appeared yet in a Garou sequel thanks to fighting games becoming more of a business model for tournaments. KOF timeline Joe is forever alone sadly, but he's the champ even in the FF timeline no one has beaten him yet in Muay Thai
One thing that I really wasn't a fan of in KOF XIV was the fact that Joe's VA was replaced in that game. You can't have my boy Joe without Nobuyuki Hiyama screaming in the mic. 5:10-5:12 If not for this message I would have had my hopes up. Thanks Shoryu!

Man, it's been a long time since I've commented on one of your videos. The workload changes that came due to the pandemic just absolutely wrecked me over the past year. But this is a video about Joe, probably my favorite character under Kim. So I can't let this video stay uncommented on forever. In terms of personality, I'd say that there's plenty to connect with when it comes to Joe. Joe's an awkward but high-spirited individual. His character lacks restraint as he tends to act without reservation. His quirky demeanor certainly causes him to stand out in comparison to the more reserved Bogard brothers. As a result, Joe's more of a loaner in his own team due to how his personality contrasts with Terry and Andy. Probably the more ironic aspect of his personality is his ego. It's rare for a Muay Thai champion to be egotistical as most champs today are confident but not conceited. Nonetheless, the care and respect Joe shows towards his friends are indicative of the natural modesty he possesses. It's no surprise that Joe was paired up with Dan in Capcom vs SNK 1. With that being said, since I was the only one in my family who played KOF consistently, my cousins often thought that Joe was the Dan of King of Fighters due to his association with Dan in CVS1. When it comes to fighting style, that could not be further from the truth. Joe is absolutely a formidable fighter and, in my opinion, is one of the best representations of Muay Thai in fighting games. For example, Joe probably has the best teep (probing/disruptive push kick) animation in all of fighting games as of XIII. For context, a teep is a core move in Muay Thai, and Sagat of SF has never once used a teep in all the years he's been in Street Fighter. When it comes to his style, as you stated, Joe's moves are much more traditional. He is distinct from King in that his moves adopt perfect conventional forms. When it comes to real-life representation, I would say that Joe adopts a Muay Mat style. Muay Mat practitioners are aggressive fighters who are known for their devastating punches and oppressive boxing mastery--hence Joe's title as the "Hurricane". Joe could also be classified as a Muay Bouk who are relentless forward-moving fighters. And if I really wanted to speculate, Joe could actually be considered a Muay Femur. Muay Femurs have mastery over all aspects of Muay Thai and are distinguished by their unrivaled fight IQ. Considering that Joe has maintained his title for so many years, it is very possible that Joe is worthy of the coveted Muay Femur classification. Typically if you're imagining a Muay Femur, you're thinking of a creative/out-of-the-box fighter like King. But there are Muay Femur champions out there who excel at using conventional forms and techniques without being overly flashy. Sorry for the long post, but I just have so much to say about Joe. Ever since I first played as him, he's been one of my favorite fighting game characters. And his Muay Thai style probably looked its best in King of Fighters XIII. And I'm definitely hyped for his KoF XV incarnation. I think a lot of Joe fans might think Capcom did Joe dirty by pairing him up with Dan. But in Dan's defense, you're cruisin' for a bruisin' if you take Dan lightly, as you would with Joe. I think if there was one thing I'd change about Joe, it's probably his love interest. I've never really liked Lilly Kane. Personally, I'm shipping Joe with King. Even though those two have only butt heads in the past, it's only reasonable for Joe to connect with someone who loves Muay Thai just as much as he does. King and Joe would be an absolutely unstoppable pair.

Sad true, but then again, Joe would probably have the same Joke Ending as he always has since the previous and later installments of KOF, But I'd say it's probably for the Best. (Joe in FF/KOF is already on the same league as Paul from Tekken level of Goofiness)

I have discovered this character at 7 years old, in the game Real Bout Special dominated mind. This is my favorite character for all the time since this day 😉.
Kinda sucks that they stopped making the Fatal Fury Anime Movies, I would of loved to see Blue Mary and Yamazaki in Animation Style. But then again, the Fatal Fury Animes were aired the same Time Span as the Dragon Ball Z Anime, otherwise Toei would have copyrighted the hell out of the Studio for well You Know. (Because Blue Mary resembles too much of Android 18, if Mary were to be in the next Fatal Fury Anime Movie = Copyright Infringement Problems)
This is in the top 10 for enjoyment of videos from this channel because i knew only about 10% of this information. What a great backstory! I really wish SNK would get a true anime series for their titles. I'm talking a MCU style animated series. Make a standalone series or movies for all the franchises involved in KOF, then bring them all together into a KOF series anime. Let the orchi fight be their endgame lol. Now to this video. I always loved playing with Joe Higashi, and once my friend showed me how to integrate that low kick into his combination, i REALLY liked using him. Plus his 20 hit Baku Retsu rush was one of the best in KOF 98 just for the brutality of it; unleashing those 4 hurricanes still gets me hyped up! Thank for the video Shoryu!

I like Joe, he is a great guy and one of my first introductions to Nobuyuki Hiyama's hot-blooded screams xD Not gonna lie, the one moment that made me like Joe for the rest of my life was during the second Fatal Fury OVA, when he uses the Screw Upper against Krauser, that scene is my favorite from the OVAs because it's so freaking cool. - V.D.
my fave fighting characters in general are kickboxers, including joe. higashi. that's why when I'm playing kof xiii, i chose this guy, king and hwa jai.
I just want to add one more thing guys. Normally I hate commercials from these ads of TH-cam but one hit perfect in time. When Terry, Mai and Andy got sick of his complaining and got up and left it went straight to an ad that immediately had some girls saying oh wow this is really happening. After searching up for hours i finally found this character's name and came back to this channel to see if there any video discussing him (turns out he did), this character brought a lot of my childhood memories. Me and my older brother used to stole money just to play kof in an arcade. I lived in south-east asia so arcade was a big thing back then (and cheap), my older brother used joe as his main and he would finish the game until dusk while i sat besides him. Joe is somewhat somebody i want to be. Confident, strong and caring. Even tho life sometimes don't let me live that way

The first ever game I managed to beat on my own was KOF 95 for Game Boy, specifically with the single fighter arcade mode, and I did it using none other than Joe Higashi. Somehow, I found a way to exploit the AI by always getting in close and nailing them with his throw, and took that all the way to beating Saisyu and Rugal. Ever since then, Joe has held a special place in my heart and has always been my main in any game he's in. It doesn't hurt I've also become quite good with him (relatively speaking, anyway, since I still suck pretty bad at KOF).
Joe and Lily was really a good couple as I'm not even going to lie but sadly the relationship never really got off the ground Joe definitely is my favorite character when it comes to King of fighter hopefully he can find a good love interest that isn't just playing off the usual scared the street character off with a homosexual character for laughs and giggles. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to see said male character as a fighting character so Joe can have a disgusted face not wanting to fight but when it comes to relationship Joe definitely should have a love interest as well as his buddies.
I never really liked Joe too much, he was always so hard to fight against. But I do love his awesome attitude, and interacting with other KOF fighters.

Terry is much of a free spirit to seriously go whit a woman (almost all of his endings show him just enjoying time doing litte things like fishing or playing whit the kids of the brothehood if not going to a party) and Andy has this trouble on his Amy rouse (like in sonic Heores writing of Amy rose), Also Andy only live triying to wonder how to develop his skills, feeling some jelousy on his brothers powers (to the point where in real bout his Ex version is made of his full violent intention to be better than him), his is a person of serenity of pure dedication, he is not enjoy his time whit Mai, (the most deep their relationship has ever go this Andy lending Mai the work of nany for Hokutomaru in Garou). Joe loves party, go on and on to fight because he likes it, has being a good figure on his sport even if he feel left behind by his friends in power and his love interst is the litte sister to one of the menber of a criminal gang that he like to annoyand escape whit. Joe has it tough but he is clearly in a good romantic place now.
@@meganinten0078 i think he feels some obligation, his special and final bout show that while andy stay around Mai tha he centers firstly on trainig, i dont think he is seroiusly goingout whit her but her is forced (as mai a show before to be very forcefull whit Andy, and SVC she start figthing Terry intending to get information on where Andy is even trought Terry wants her togive Andy some space and then again canocally Terry is say to be one of the people Mai respects the most) . Im not saying there can be no love, Andy seems weak to some of Mai acts sometimes but Andy is all about the training while Mai has the intention to be a clasicall japanese wife.

@@meganinten0078 It can fun, i get that i like they the comedic tiredness that Andy always had around Mai, but thanks to that plot point we never get much clearance on how is handy advancing trought the years, he is still as of yet being drag along for Mai to everything and he gets no plot relavancy to anyone else (trought the dragons and tigers talks was a pretty cute moment), i belive the they give up on giving him anything to do whiout Mai getting on top of him. I love your KOF lore videos they are amazing, and you did videos on every favorite character of mine, except for the one that made me a KOF fan in the first place Mai Shiranui, I will wait for her turn. Side note: mai is my favorite for different reason than most mai fans, and it's the gameplay and her moveset.

Hwa Jai is so underrated. His XIII appearance was awesome. And the only game where I could have a full Muay Thai team
Wellhwe was from fatal Fury initially. Charcters that franchise tend to be less extreme.

This guy surprises me with every new video with how deep the SNK lore is, amazing.
Joe had the badass vibe to him in the first 2 films. This scene is on my VHS tape.

Kinda sucks that they stopped making the Fatal Fury Anime Movies, I would of loved to see Blue Mary and Yamazaki in Animation Style.
But then again, the Fatal Fury Animes were aired the same Time Span as the Dragon Ball Z Anime, otherwise Toei would have copyrighted the hell out of the Studio for well You Know.
(Because Blue Mary resembles too much of Android 18, if Mary were to be in the next Fatal Fury Anime Movie = Copyright Infringement Problems)

This is in the top 10 for enjoyment of videos from this channel because i knew only about 10% of this information. What a great backstory! I really wish SNK would get a true anime series for their titles. I'm talking a MCU style animated series. Make a standalone series or movies for all the franchises involved in KOF, then bring them all together into a KOF series anime. Let the orchi fight be their endgame lol.
Now to this video. I always loved playing with Joe Higashi, and once my friend showed me how to integrate that low kick into his combination, i REALLY liked using him. Plus his 20 hit Baku Retsu rush was one of the best in KOF 98 just for the brutality of it; unleashing those 4 hurricanes still gets me hyped up! Thank for the video Shoryu!

After searching up for hours i finally found this character's name and came back to this channel to see if there any video discussing him (turns out he did), this character brought a lot of my childhood memories. Me and my older brother used to stole money just to play kof in an arcade. I lived in south-east asia so arcade was a big thing back then (and cheap), my older brother used joe as his main and he would finish the game until dusk while i sat besides him. Joe is somewhat somebody i want to be. Confident, strong and caring. Even tho life sometimes don't let me live that way

The first ever game I managed to beat on my own was KOF 95 for Game Boy, specifically with the single fighter arcade mode, and I did it using none other than Joe Higashi. Somehow, I found a way to exploit the AI by always getting in close and nailing them with his throw, and took that all the way to beating Saisyu and Rugal. Ever since then, Joe has held a special place in my heart and has always been my main in any game he's in. It doesn't hurt I've also become quite good with him (relatively speaking, anyway, since I still suck pretty bad at KOF).

My favorite character easily
Joe and Lily was really a good couple as I'm not even going to lie but sadly the relationship never really got off the ground Joe definitely is my favorite character when it comes to King of fighter hopefully he can find a good love interest that isn't just playing off the usual scared the street character off with a homosexual character for laughs and giggles. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to see said male character as a fighting character so Joe can have a disgusted face not wanting to fight but when it comes to relationship Joe definitely should have a love interest as well as his buddies.
I never really liked Joe too much, he was always so hard to fight against. But I do love his awesome attitude, and interacting with other KOF fighters.

Terry is much of a free spirit to seriously go whit a woman (almost all of his endings show him just enjoying time doing litte things like fishing or playing whit the kids of the brothehood if not going to a party) and Andy has this trouble on his Amy rouse (like in sonic Heores writing of Amy rose), Also Andy only live triying to wonder how to develop his skills, feeling some jelousy on his brothers powers (to the point where in real bout his Ex version is made of his full violent intention to be better than him), his is a person of serenity of pure dedication, he is not enjoy his time whit Mai, (the most deep their relationship has ever go this Andy lending Mai the work of nany for Hokutomaru in Garou).
Joe loves party, go on and on to fight because he likes it, has being a good figure on his sport even if he feel left behind by his friends in power and his love interst is the litte sister to one of the menber of a criminal gang that he like to annoyand escape whit.
Joe has it tough but he is clearly in a good romantic place now.

@@meganinten0078 i think he feels some obligation, his special and final bout show that while andy stay around Mai tha he centers firstly on trainig, i dont think he is seroiusly goingout whit her but her is forced (as mai a show before to be very forcefull whit Andy, and SVC she start figthing Terry intending to get information on where Andy is even trought Terry wants her togive Andy some space and then again canocally Terry is say to be one of the people Mai respects the most) .
Im not saying there can be no love, Andy seems weak to some of Mai acts sometimes but Andy is all about the training while Mai has the intention to be a clasicall japanese wife.

@@meganinten0078 It can fun, i get that i like they the comedic tiredness that Andy always had around Mai, but thanks to that plot point we never get much clearance on how is handy advancing trought the years, he is still as of yet being drag along for Mai to everything and he gets no plot relavancy to anyone else (trought the dragons and tigers talks was a pretty cute moment), i belive the they give up on giving him anything to do whiout Mai getting on top of him.
