Man it's awesome to see this podcast. I was in the AAA groups since the first couple of weeks it started, but earlier this year I had some stuff from years ago catch up with me and had to do some time and when I got out I had to change my number. I lost contact with the meeting info and the men's text chat. Is there anyway somebody could get me that info? I enjoyed those meetings way more than any meeting I've ever been too.
You can do all of this stuff as a sponsor in the program. You can't treat mental health but you can suggest to someone to make an appointment to get that help. It all depends on the willingness of the person seeking help. It was decided a long time ago when the program began to not charge for this stuff. I went to a state funded rehab where I met my homegroup that takes this disease and the solution seriously. An effective homegroup and an effective web of sponsorship is super important.
Oak Forest has various offerings but “inpatient” care isn’t one of them. They’re a highly structured sober community with PHP-OP levels of care. (90 days minimum) As well as high structure sober living and some outpatient services. You can call +1 (888) 597-6257 to get the costs!
The prison system makes me so angry my boyfriend is an addict spent 3 years in prison is a felon now and saddled with SOOOO many fees 25k worth of restitution and drug court is a joke he was getting high before going in and just taking his couple days of jail time getting out then getting high he’s currently sober and living with me and can’t even help pay bills here because of how much monkey it cost to just pay his court fees to stay out of prison. It makes me so angry I understand he did bad things but he never hurt another person he’s an addict and there is no incentive and seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel he gets down and feels like he will never make it because the fees make it feel unworth it
😂, my story is pretty sick. I'm sure I've made it against all odds . If I told my story I think even I would be shook. I haven't said half the things that happened in my life out loud.. not even to myself.
@AgainstAllOddsPod if I said it in the mic I think it'd feel different than saying it to people directly if that makes sense. I'd say we all have some pretty crazy stories. some of the people you have on really have survived against all odds, that's for sure.
