Was there from 1973 to 19777. Yeah, its was aan idyllic time and space. Tony Hatton (Khaki) (RIP) was a wonderful teacher and housemaster. Mr Srern (Boss) was the best headmaster. All 6 of my siblings atteneded WK There was at least one of us, from 1968 to 1982. I was the second last. 7 of us! I think our family holds the record for the number of students per family.
Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa (UWCSA) is one of thirteen international UWC schools and colleges and is located in Mbabane, Swaziland. UWC schools, colleges and programmes deliver a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future.
CCTV Africa congratulations for a beautiful documentary on WK, it brought nostalgic tears to my eyes, remembering my graduation day and recognizing familiar faces. It is a shame though, how there is no mention of WK being a United World College, and no mention to all of us international alumni who are also part of Waterford community, having gained our places there through tough selection processes in our countries of origin. The school ethos is (and was from the begining!), about multiculturality, and that is one of the aspects that makes it a very special and unique place. I felt this diversity was misrepresented in your documentary. We (people from 52 different nationalities) lived there coexisting with different religions, economical backgrounds and political positions, in the most welcoming country I've ever known; in fact my second home. I find this welcoming aspect of both WK and Swaziland was worth mentioning.
Life is the most exciting opportunity we have. But we have one shot. You graduate from college once, and that's it. You're going out of that nest. And you have to find that courage that's deep, deep, deep in there. Every step of the way.
