If he came to the Red Wings. And played like he didn't want to be in Detroit. The trade would be a big mistake for the Wings. I don't think the Red Wings want to be known as a team breaking up a family. Stop the trade. The Red Wings can look at other options.
Horrible look for the Rangers franchise to be putting this whole situation public. There was an article saying some of the players have realized this is starting to become a trend (Goodrow, off ice employees, and now Trouba). Not surprised at all no one forced there way to NYR in free agency..
How? They have a business to run. They went out of their way to take a major loss, to send him back home to family... so he couldn't continue to use that crutch. Guy is worth tens of millions, there is nothing that his wife or son will miss out on. Skype and FaceTime still work just fine. You fell for the agents PR. Maybe if he signed a reasonable contract, this wouldn't be an issue.
My wife was in college when I 1st got sent to Iraq in 2003. My kids were 4 and 1 when I got deployed in combat last in 2014. I knew plenty of dudes that did their 20 and never got deployed. Life doesn't always seem fair, but you suck it up and get stuff done.
Drury didn’t go after anyone that hard in FA because they all wanted to be overpaid like crazy Drury is smart for not signing any of these insane contracts
Its buisness, no place for hurt feelings.
Just look at stamkos......no longer in Tampa
@ScottStenlund-x9m yes, he says that now, after not appreciating how Tampa handled things with him.
It's bad faith debate to leave out context while making an argument
@@americanadreaming as they say, it takes two to tango. The Rangers shouldn't have offered the terms of the contract if they weren't prepared for this possibility.
Rangers have to hold onto the worst Captain in the NHL for one more year. 🤣
"Chicken Wing" Trouba's fall from Grace has been swift and harsh.
NYR will still want to unload him.
Detroit still may be in play but really they are going onward with a different direction for their defense now..
But the trade price for a team to take on Trouba's contract just went up. Maybe NYR also has to add assets as an incentive.
if they'd throw in Laftrniere that'd be sweet
Sounds like the trade will happen next year
Rangers give the stupidest contracts to just average players
Yep. Been doing it my whole life 😂
We don't need people who don't want to be here anyway. If our Youngsters are what people say they are, let them play and we'll see.
tkachuk snow YIKES
Listening to Larry Brooks was your first mistake. Guy created his own propaganda on a daily basis. All the players on the team hate him like the Oilers hate Spector. He has no sources.
The same Larry Brooks “Brooksy” that Torts made look like a 3rd grade hack journalist, over and over?
😂
can Trouba be traded to Philadelphia? would be close enough to New York City so doctor wife can finish residency in New York city?
You don't want someone who doesn't want to be here anyway. He's entitled. There may be a time when no team will want him for whatever reason. Always stay humbled. I don't care if you are a top big name or not. Wings dodged a bullet. Be grateful. The last thing you want is playing like you don't want to be on a team
I'll miss seeing The Trouba Train but; his lackadaisical defensive play I can live without....
If Rangers end up keeping Trouba maybe this will have shaken him up enough that he plays at the level he is being paid. If not then he needs to be grateful to be able to continue to play anywhere in the NHL.
Truba mystery solved. Still want to know why we had to give away a second with Jake Wallman.
Blues fan, I was surprised to see Walman traded. He found his game in Detroit and was a 1st pair dman. Also I wish we never traded him lol
He probably just wants to stay in the region, 8mil per year can cover flights. These guys are on the road all year anyway.
I don't like how you've been beating up on U of M lately
Well they kind of made him like a scapegoat for there own shortcomings like being a soft team , so I can’t blame him
I respect his choice ..family first ...but not the time ryan millers wife made him sign in anahaim for her acting careeer lol
It's not family 1st, he's using them as leverage. None of them need to deviate from their lives, he's worth $10s of millions. Their silver spoons will be washed by servants.
He ain't staying in new york regardless, so he's just being stubborn.
@@americanadreaming
Explain how it’s nit family first?
@@Mike-ix5sv how is he being stubborn. he signed a contract from the rangers. not his fault he excercising his contract rights. lol like i said he aint doing nothing wrong.
He needs to be out on Waivers,He's letting his wife dictate where he plays
Put the bum on waivers… Larry brooks is a clown
His wife happened……
tbh he didnt do anything wrong. its a contract.. he doesnt hve to accept a trade. he putting his family first and nothing wrong with that. best to him.
@@irvinepoker3187Putting family 1st or using them as leverage to capture the hearts and minds in this PR struggle? This college educated retired Army 35 series isn't deceived.
Okay lets not blame his wife... blame management and the ownership that signed off on that absolutely horrible contract
@@irvinepoker3187he can only block a trade to 15 teams. He negotiated those terms. Saying you won’t report if you get traded is not holding up your end the agreement, the reason does not matter it’s bad business.
@americanadreaming we get it, you're entire personality is that you got suckered into being in the army for 15 years. We don't care and it has nothing to do with Troubas contact. Stop bringing it up lol. Loser.
The Wings would be happy to send Ben Chiarot and Justin Holl in exchange for Trouba straight up. No salary retained and you would have an LD and RD to fill out your line up.
I'd prefer to keep Chiarot and send Petry instead a 1000 of times
yzerman wanted him though 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You can transfer a medical residency though its not easy. As for the family guy thing why should her career matter any more than his? Even as a doctor his Rangers contract will earn more than her entire career.
But at the same time why would you?
@@lordrayden3045 because your husband is a professional athlete with a very limited career window and he makes $8m/yr.and doesn't have control over where he plays. Not sure why i had to point this out??
@@jamesreed2475
No, it’s too much trouble
And I’m sure it’s at one of the best hospitals in the country.
Transferring something like that is t like just switching colleges
@@lordrayden3045 is she making $8m in her residency? Everything after that answer if it isn't yes is blah, blah, blah, blah.
It's one of those things where he is free to not report but it is a really shitty thing to do when you agreed to the contract... If he didn't want to get moved he could have gotten a no move clause
He did. For the first 5 years. Teams won't agree to a full no trade clause for a 7 year contract for players like this. I'm sure he suggested it and the Rangers countered with what it is today.
@@DeePalms still his choice to sign the contract, could have taken a five year deal
Drury sucks .expected nothing less
As a rangers fan, the nature of this going public before free agency left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, I’m not sure who leaked it, but we are in a position where not only should we unload him, we now need to incentivize it further if we want other suitors.
Well that really screwed the wings. ESPECIALLY if that is the reason Walman was traded. And that is most likely the case.
I hate Trouba as a player and a person, but he has every right to use his negotiated contract to the letter, if he so desires. Let's face it, we just witnessed the underhanded way the front office dealt with Goodrow when it served THEM. Ranger fans should get over it and take their ire out on Drury for giving that much money and power to a one dimensional player like Trouba in the 1st place.
It wasn't Drury who gave him that
@@xlr0gd205A classic example of a guy who aged very quickly once he entered his late 20's. Now he is making $8 mil and is average at best. Probably only worth $3-4 mil on the open market as a 3rd pair RD.
If I am Detroit, hard pass for me. I'd get younger and faster. This guy is slow as molasses.
@@xlr0gd205Sorry about that, I am not a Rangers fan, so I assumed it was Drury.
He just doesn’t show up
It’s not complicated.
There would be consequences, but he doesn’t have to show up
Well besides the 7 Canadian teams, we now know another team in his 15 no-trade list. What do you suppose the other 7 are?
Not a huge fan of trouba
It doesn't matter as to why he doesn't want to be traded to ANY team that's on his NO TRADE LIST. He doesn't need to qualify his reasons for not accepting a trade to any team in that list.
THAT'S HOW CONTRACTS (are supposed to) WORK!
This is correct, but it's the order of events that is weird and suspicious.
Timeline of events.
1. Mid last week it was reported that new york asked him for his 15 team list.
2. The rumors of a trade came out at the draft.
3. Saturday it was reported that he was shocked and upset that NYR wanted to trade him.
4. We find out he nixed the deal to Detroit.
This does not add up.
How can he be shocked that ny wants to trade him when they asked him for a 15 team list??
Further, why would NY negotiate a trade with Detroit in the first place if Detroit was on troubas list of teams he wouldnt go to?
One of two things happened. NY negotiated with Detroit prior to receiving troubas list and assumed ( incorrectly) that he would be ok going there.
Or trouba modified his list to include detroit after he caught wind of the trade.
From all reports it isnt just that he doesnt want to go to detroit, but that he doesnt want to leave NY at all.
Well, that's not an option, all he can do is work with NY on a suitable destination. Strong arming NY into keeping him would be not honoring the terms of his contract aswell as creating enemies and bad blood within the organization
What are the 15 teams he refuses to sign to ?
the West.
Thank god
Okay lets not blame his wife... blame management and the ownership that signed off on that absolutely horrible contract
@@phlexcrew no im saying thank god hes not coming to Detroit🤣
@@krimsonshadow94 wtf I commented this under someone else’s comment 🤣
A 30 year old man worth tens of millions is worried how his wife and kid will do if he has to work two hours away? Wonder if I could have done the same when I was deploying to Iraq for months/years at a time?
Dude needs to sack up.
Why? He has a no trade clause, including Detroit, and a year left in his contract. He's allowed to say no. It's not his fault that some journalists blew this up despite not knowing the situation.
Rangers gave him the Deal
He’s living up to his end
Be mad at the rangers, not him
Nothing on Ekblad?
The post is crap
I would trade him for marrying a doctor instead of a bartender.
Yeah….
Real big brained comment there
Good, Stevie has already made enough bad signings this offseason, we don’t need Trouba
He made 5 signings and I’d argue none of them are particularly bad
The first season he hasn't made any bad signings recently
