Amazing that even a small ammunition factory like this has such a high level of automation.

I bought several boxes of Barnes bullets years ago most of which is still unopened on a shelf. I shot three deer with them and only found one by pure luck. They run forever and leave no blood trail. The one I found run almost 400 yards and fell dead in the edge of a clear cut. No expansion at all might as well be shooting full metal jackets. Tiny hole going in tiny hole coming out and the holes clot up real fast and then the blood trail ends. Do the animals and yourself a favor and use a good copper/lead bullet that will expand and get the job done.

What caliber? Sounds like you did not have them going fast enough to open.

So why can't you find any anywhere now ?

Those presses are 75 years, or more, old. They achieve a surprising and repeatable quality. Who needs more modern kit when this stuff still works just fine.

"Safety is our #1 goal." I see no hearing protection. Our safety teams would lose their minds there. ;)

Now the company was bought by Sierra bullets due to the Remington bankruptcy, I wonder if the price will go up or product will change.

Pretty basic, right? Cost them all of about $20.

Good bullets I use them in several guns but the only down fall I see with them is the price they are about twice as expensive as any other bullet I use. Also it doesn’t matter if it’s a .22 cal or a .338 cal there is no price drop among the smaller bullets like there is with other manufactures even though there is less than half maybe less than a quarter of the material in some of the smaller bullets such as .22 an .243 cal. Price defiantly makes them a bullet that I would not choose for a rifle I plan to shoot much if your just going to use the rifle a few weeks out of the year during a hunting season shoot maybe 20 or 30 rounds a year from then there an ok choice but I would not use them for anything else.

The sound should have been dubbed in after filming , I couldn't watch it because I couldn't understand what they were talking about

Yes, I haven’t shot mine yet but the ballistics look better than average for 30-06.

Great bullets. If you're a hunter you owe it to the animal you hunt to use these bullets. Excellent mushroom ability.

No hearing protection and the noise level on the factory floor is so high they're standing next to each other and having to yell in order to communicate.

Well yhis video wasnt everything i wanted. I wanted to see their jacketing of the bullet, this only showed hollow point bullet formation or what would be a bullet with a polymer tip. The bullet formation shows a WW2 era machine with modern day laser precision updates.
    3 main steps for bullets:
    5:15
    5:48
    6:25

I think that I would have put a legend -- like for people with hearing defects -- at bottom rather than have people try to talk ( and to hear ) over the sound of the machinery.

Barnes makes a good product but it's expensive

    • @Toolness1
      @Toolness1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

No wonder, see how slow these machines are? Each one is spitting out one per second basically and it has to go through multiple machines to make a finished bullet. So they are not producing them very fast....
Plus, copper and lead are much more expensive than they once were so that doesn't help.

ive got a feeling its more due to the price of copper
