Thank you for writing up the entire diagnostic process; it will surely help others trying to assemble their own XT-IDE cards (or possibly other cards). In 40 years of working with these systems, I've never come across a bad DIP switch block, so that was a new one.
Thanks Jim, that DIP switch was a big surprise.. I took it apart to check but couldn't see anything obvious. I had the card lying around for a couple of years, so perhaps some micro oxidation had occured.. Thankfully they are easy to buzz through and validate..
i had similar problems with xt-ide.I put ic's sockets on card, and problem was chips from aliexpress. 7 of 10 bad 28c64, and 7 of 10 bad 74lc32, and few other logic ic's.
That is also good to know.. I bought the eprom I used from a local electronics store, so I was reasonably confident they would work, although one didn't.. Alixpress special IC"s can get you into trouble quickly!
Yes, Alixpress parts can be dodgy.. I sourced my eproms locally here in OZ, but still something was wrong with the first one.. Haven't blanked it out and tested again, but will do that in order to validate if it's faulty or not..
Great video and for me very helpful. At some point I plan on adding the xtide to my 5150. This will
be very helpful, thanks.
