Deeks was often the Quiet one. Before Queen were formed Roger and Brian had long been friends and had many similar ideas about how they liked their music to be. While John like Freddie had some very different ideas about the style of music he liked to play. John wrote I Want to Break Free and Another one bites the dust. But out of the other three members I think it was probably Freddie that he felt closest to. Not that he disliked either Brian or Roger for any reason, far from it - he respected both of them and got on with them but I think perhaps he felt the impact of Freddie's death more than most and the thing was you have to remember that John Deacon was always a very private character and he would never have let on about just exactly how much he missed Freddie. I guess he just never really felt like he wanted to continue after the death of Freddie.
John Deacon's talent and quiet brilliance were the backbone of Queen's iconic sound. His basslines are unforgettable!
Love to John and his wonderful family.
