I think Glee helped prolong Cory's life. Without it we probably would've lost him sooner than we did. It definitely brought out the best in him. He was a beautiful soul who had a very serious problem but like Lea said, "he was not his addiction." RIP Cory.
I agree. He even alluded to that fact in interviews that he didn't have any time for that sort of thing due to Glee's hectic schedule seasons 1-3 (they worked like 15-16 hour days). Reports of him falling off the wagon came around season 4 when he wasn't a regular on the show due to the storyline and what not, so it's easy to see the connection. RIP Cory.
STixa CC , yeah. I lose it when I just see him on screen and look at his pics. She knew him personally and she holds it. I don't know...She is a very strong 💟
I could tell around the middle of the video she was holding back tears and trying not to choke up. Honestly one of the strongest women I've ever seen. She an idol.
I love how she can talk about Cory. I mean, I'm glad she's open about the situation and that she can smile about their memories instead of cry over his death. I literally admire her so much, and I know Cory would be proud.
I am not religious or believe in an afterlife but I sure hope that Cory knows somewhere how much he is missed and what an impact he had on a lot of people. Such a senseless death. One mistake and it changed a lot of people’s lives forever. R.I.P. Cory. Still missed. Still loved. X
I'm seriously crying right now. How can Lea be so strong? I didn't even KNOW him personally, yet I can't even talk about him to anyone without tearing up. What an incredible woman Lea is.
When you lose someone, especially if it's someone young, people ask about it. You need to talk about it all the time. After a time, you kind of distance yourself from the emotions to be able to keep going. I think that is what she's doing. It's what I did. (Not saying she's not strong; she is.)
I'm a little late on this comment (sorry lol) but she is really strong. There was one radio interview where they asked about her song If You Say So and she broke down and someone came on and said that they had to cut the interview short but that was mainly because the interviewers were prying. But yes, she is very strong and I'm so proud to call her my idol.
It's so annoying seeing people say," Oh she's so fake," or "She's just trying to get publicity from his death" or "If she really loved Cory she wouldn't have gotten a new boyfriend so soon." Just... Stfu. You don't know her personally. Everyone deals with shit differently. The way & how long she grieves isn't for you to judge...
+Annie Ellis I totally agree. She's a very strong and sweet person, and she still holds Cory very dear even though she's moved on. You have to move on at some point in your life, I love Lea, I watched Glee and as I watched it, Rachel became my personal favorite because of how she developed as a character throughout the seasons and her performance as Rachel was so wonderful. She's amazing, beautiful talented, sweet, and strong. Overcoming that grief takes time, how long, I don't know. But she's moved on and even though she misses Cory, she's happy with her current life.
I like how she looks at the audience when she talks too. A lot of celebrities just look at Ellen, and she made this interview more personable. I love her. She's amazing
Just because Cory was a drug addict people expect Lea not to be sad about his death. Smh. She loved him and he loved her. I can't even begin to imagine the pain she must have gone through, and is probably still going through. I idolize her so much for her strength and bravery.

All good performers pull everything from their emotions. The emotions create the art. With that constant use of emotions, you learn to turn them on and off again when needed. I would imagine that she, as well as most actors, would constantly be riding on that edge, but able to control it well enough to speak, act, move, and even sing. Now how she got through singing while filming "The Quarterback" where she had to control her REAL emotions and sing about a staged loss that was actually a real loss, that...is something that must have been the most insurmountable obstacle she's ever had to achieve. But she did. Kudos to her.
I'm not a Glee or Lea Michelle fan but I have a whole new level of respect for her after watching this. She is being very strong and positive, which can be so hard to do. Good for you Lea!!

Svvet Lana idk what that means but im guesing something good and duhh she is over 30 and almost all of the actors have interview training even jennifer lawrence
I think what the person meat was that she spoke with such grace even when going through a rough time and holding back tears. It has nothing to do with her training on interviews
Ellen didn't start mentioning "Cory" for what seemed like the longest time in this segment that I thought they were going to go through this entire interview without saying his name. When she finally did, and of course she had to, it was "Cory's passing". I held my breath when she said that, then the camera panned to Lea and it showed her holding back... And I thought my heart break a little. It struck me then, that she isn't brave, she isn't strong, she isn't a goddess of all things nice; She is just a normal girl trying to keep it together as best as she could after the loss of her lover. She is positive about this because she has to. I love how they talk about Cory once they got the white elephant out of the way. Ah, the fond memories. That truly is the best way to keep the departed in the world. Ellen is quite fond of Cory, I think, but she never really talked about him when she interviewed the many Glee stars that came on her show during this period. I'm glad she saved that part for Lea. I haven't realize this until now - Lea and Cory were the sweetest couple because both of them genuinely were sweet, sweet people. To everyone who knew you, whether intimately or not, you brought them joy while you lived, Cory.
I completely agree and I love the way you wrote your comment but this part "but she never really talked about him when she interviewed the many Glee stars that came on her show during this period." is not quite true. I think in this time the only cast members that have been on Ellen since then were Chord and Mike O'Malley [the guy who plays Kurts father] .. and both times she asked how Cory was like. I mean, I don't find it bad in fact I loved that Ellen did that but I just wanted to get your fact straight :)
Jenna Bora Yeah I remembered that too after I sent my comment but I didn't want to add that because my point was already clear :) aaaand I didn't want to come off like I was being offensive or something because I really liked squallofreeves comment :)
MrDPower16 Don't worry about offending anyone when you write as civilly as you do. I'm glad that you like my comment. It's comforting. In regards to your doubts though, I was referring to the part where she shared her own memories about Cory with Lea. I could be wrong but I remember her keeping the focus on the other guests... how they were feeling, how Cory was like in their eyes, how they were trying to cope etc. Not saying she didn't keep the focus on Lea on this one... just that this one is less formal, and so touching. Of course, you're welcomed to think differently.
You know what I also just realized? She didn't say his name throughout the interview either.. It must be so hard for her.. :( I don't think she's said his name since the TCA's..
I love her so much. I was never a fan of Glee but due to Cory's passing, I learned a lot from her. To go through what she went through, her strength is commendable.
random channel Watching Glee for the first time (@ season 3) and just found out about all of this... I feel like my world just shattered since he is actually still on the show 🙂
We can all see how hard she's trying to keep it together in this interview so I'm just gonna cry for her :'(.. This interview is one of the most heartfelt I've ever watched. Every time I think about my step-dad who passed away tragically, I can't help but tear up and she's such a strong lady for being able to talk about her loss without breaking down. God bless to Lea and her family.
I lost my boyfriend last May to an overdose it was like all the air was taken out of my lungs. Lea has been an inspiration for me with when I was going thru it. There really is an empowerment when you go thru something like this. I'm in recovery as well and I was going thru a crossroad when it happen that I didn't know if I wanted to be sober or not. And when I lost Mike getting thru it; it finely just clicked I've been sober almost a year and a half now and I honestly can say if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be he's my guardian angel and I know he is with me every step of the way . But she is just so strong an it is something that no one should ever go thru. But unfortunately this is not uncommon. Please take this illness seriously. If you or a loved on is suffering from addiction please reach out. All my love Lea rip Cory never forgotten.
My brain cannot comprehend what you must be going through. I'm sending a lot of love and peace your way and hope that your life will become brighter again! ♥️
I don't even watch Glee... but there was something about him, it's a sad story. When she said "It's just as hard to go to work, rather than opening up the closet and seeing a pair of shoes." That was... what stuck out to me, thinking about people I've lost. Seeing their things, and knowing they'll never use them again.
He didn't die he just took the midnight train going anywhere... The show must go all over the place or something.. I miss him so much he was so amazing!!!
Corey's death hit me harder than any celebrity's death.I practically felt as if I had lost a brother.I grew up with him, connecting with him and his character every season. He was'nt just playing a character. He was being himself. How crushed I was when I found out.Even my parents did'nt get my grief. They blamed it on 'celebrity worship' when in fact they did'nt understand. They never did. I love you Corey. And I'll miss you forever.Thank you for teaching me how to treat others different than myself.
Sarah Barzen I had no idea he died in real life until a week before the quarterback episode and I bawled from 12:00 until like 3 minutes after the episode ended!
The way she smiled when Ellen brought up Cory being in the show, you can tell how much she's still so in love with him, as she would be obviously. She is such a strong person and I wish her all the best and send my love.
I love Ellen for the respect she puts in her questions, I love Lea for being so brave and simple, and I think it's safe to say that all Gleeks miss Cory...
76 people have no souls.. how can anyone dislike something like this? Lea is so unbelievably strong; it's truly unfathomable. If I had a boyfriend and he died, I definitely would not be able to get out of my house let alone talk about him without becoming hysterical 5 months later. You can see in her eyes, and hear it in her voice, how much pain she is still in. She's an amazing and beautiful person, and I hope she heals in time.
Three days before Corys passing by my grandmother died, she was for me like another mother and then Cory died. My whole world break down in these pair of seconds. It doesn´t go day, where I don´t think about Cory. So it is so hard for me to controll myself, but if Lea do it, I´ll do it too.
These people who say that she was faking her emotions or that she doesnt have emotions disgust me. She probably knew what they would talk about so she could like prepare herself for it. But still, dont you see it in her eyes how heartbroken she is?
She is so amazing and strong and I can't believe how brave she is. I also think that Ellen handled this interview really well. It broke my heart to see her shed those tears
I love her strength. I can't stand all the comments about her laughing and not caring about his death. That is obviously not true you can see the sadness in her eyes and her calm maturity in how she talks. If you have ever experienced death of a loved one you know that you experience many emotions. Of course she is sad but she's also probably felt anger, regret, guilt, relief, and an empowering sense that you need to take a hold of your life and live it. If not for you than your loved one.
you can tell she was being professional and holding back the tears (she doesn't need to cry to prove her love). remember she did say she's been struggling to follow her mother's advice and keep moving forward.
I agree. Her strength and integrity make her a truly beautiful and radiant person. I want her to continue being strong, happy, and doing what she loves, because I love seeing that smile on her face.
I thought Lea wouldn't be ready to go on interviews and talk about Cory like that, but this interview was so natural and positive. I love that Lea is so eloquent, it's nice listening to what she has to say. I bet it's bc anyone can talk to Ellen!
I love those words her Mom said, that at the right moment overtime grief can empower you. Ellens words about cracks letting the light in is amazing too! Two positive, optimistic people. We need more in the world!
Even though Lea is dating someone else, I don't believe that she'll love any other man as much as she loves Cory. I believe, hope even, that she'll find love again but whatever she feels for that lucky guy, will pale in comparison to the love she has for Cory. For those of us Gleeks who believe in Heaven, at least we know that they'll be together again one day. Lea's Catholic, so there's a pretty strong chance that Cory was too and is waiting for her up there. :)Rest in peace, Cory Monteith. We all still miss you so much, man!!! The world is immeasurably less bright without your presence in it. You will NEVER be forgotten.#CoryMonteith#RIP#AlwaysRemembered#MoncheleForever
I know, I thought it was my imagination, but she doesnt have the same loving expression for her new boyfriend that she had for Cory. But i still wish them the best.
My dad died when I was 13. I'm 16 now and obviously I miss him and watching this brought me to tears... It's inspiring to see Lea so strong and doing well when all this time the whole world has been watching her grieve. I just want to say this: You never really know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have
fuck who dislikes this! she is so strong, if i was her on the show and ellen asked me about Cory, i cant even talk anymore. But she is one strong women! RESPECT!
She is just the most amazing and strong woman I've ever seen. I am such a fan of hers and I look up to her so much. So nice to see her smiling and remembering him in the best ways. R.I.P Cory
I love Lea's strength and perseverance, because it just shows how beautiful of a person she is. And as for the people judging Cory, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure he tried to overcome his addiction, but unfortunately it was a relapse that got him. Lea and Cory had an strong and beautiful connection, on and off screen, and she still misses him, but has moved on and is back on her feet and happy. Those people who judge either one or both need to grow up, get a life, and rethink their own words and actions. Lea, keep on shining bright and being the strong beautiful person you are.
also, cory had been in rehab a few months before. because of this, when he relapsed it killed him because he had a lower tolerance be he had tried to be clean. I can’t believe people are judging him...
Each time her voice goes high it breaks my heart because you know that is when she is the closest to tears, especially when she starts talking about the grief, and seeing his shoes you can really hear the pain in her voice.
I've never lost anyone so close to me but I hope that when that day comes I'll deal with it with even so much as half the strength that Lea has. So proud of this girl. The way we face such difficult times just proves who we really are. I have mad respect for her.
I completely agree with what you said. It's humbling to see how she''s handled the whole situation and how privately too... She's just so inspiring... I love her even more
i can't believe how strong is she, i admire her so much! i cried the entire video and she's able to talk about that with a smile on her face, i couldn't do that, such an incredible woman!!
Aww Lea is amazing.. she handles herself so well, so professionally, she is so mature, open and LOVELY! Sorry i HATE Glee but i love her as a human being, she is admirable and inspiring, poor girl losing her loved one, she is such a sweetheart. The end of this video made me cry :(

I think what the person meat was that she spoke with such grace even when going through a rough time and holding back tears. It has nothing to do with her training on interviews
the Originals FUCK YOU DUDE
MrDPower16 Amber Riley has been on Ellen since Cory's passing. She was promoting her time on Dancing with the stars. But anyway, I agree with you.
Jenna Bora
Yeah I remembered that too after I sent my comment but I didn't want to add that because my point was already clear :) aaaand I didn't want to come off like I was being offensive or something because I really liked squallofreeves comment :)
MrDPower16
Don't worry about offending anyone when you write as civilly as you do.
I was just thinking the exact same thing.
It’s literally 2019 and I still cry about this when I rewatch glee

I was CRYING yesterday
I cried my heart out
We can all see how hard she's trying to keep it together in this interview so I'm just gonna cry for her :'(..
Sorry for your loss, and I'm so proud of you, I hope your still going strong
I just lost my boyfriend last Thursday to an overdose. It has been so hard
I miss him so much he was so amazing!!!
eehh this is true👏👏😍
This almost made me cry 😭
Yeah
you made me cry harder then before

Corey's death hit me harder than any celebrity's death.I practically felt as if I had lost a brother.I grew up with him, connecting with him and his character every season. He was'nt just playing a character. He was being himself. How crushed I was when I found out.Even my parents did'nt get my grief. They blamed it on 'celebrity worship' when in fact they did'nt understand. They never did.
I love you Corey. And I'll miss you forever.Thank you for teaching me how to treat others different than myself.
Maria del Mar oh the irony lol
I went through so many tough losses this past year and they are still hard to process. Rest in peace Cory. Stay strong Lea.
This still set me in tears..

5 months exactly today. Hope Cory's is well up there. Keep being strong Lea. You're amazing.
How do you want a girl to handle her boyfriends death in the public eye? both of them are so well known...people have to think a little....
When I watched the quarterback I was bawling five seconds in
Sarah Barzen I had no idea he died in real life until a week before the quarterback episode and I bawled from 12:00 until like 3 minutes after the episode ended!
me too i bawled my eyes out for the next day and a half it was so sad
When I know about his death, i didn't want to see the episode and i still can't see it. I know it will be very painfull to me.
Me too
Sarah Barzen literally omg
The way she smiled when Ellen brought up Cory being in the show, you can tell how much she's still so in love with him, as she would be obviously. She is such a strong person and I wish her all the best and send my love.
I'm in awe of her. She's incredibily strong and brave. What an inspiration
I just want to give her a huge hug, what a beautiful strong woman xo

Three days before Corys passing by my grandmother died, she was for me like another mother and then Cory died. My whole world break down in these pair of seconds. It doesn´t go day, where I don´t think about Cory. So it is so hard for me to controll myself, but if Lea do it, I´ll do it too.
did u know cory?
omg that is so sad. i am so sorry for your loss
NightcoreStern omg... if you didn't actually know him you need to sort your fucking head out
You were more upset about Cory’s death than your own grandmother’s? Wtf?
That’s so sad! I’m so sorry! 😭❤️
These people who say that she was faking her emotions or that she doesnt have emotions disgust me. She probably knew what they would talk about so she could like prepare herself for it. But still, dont you see it in her eyes how heartbroken she is?
What a truly amazing person Lea Michele is.
She is so amazing and strong and I can't believe how brave she is. I also think that Ellen handled this interview really well. It broke my heart to see her shed those tears
She is soo genuine with her speech and so strong to be constantly addressing this publicly!
My prayers are with her!
Anyone back here after Lea announced she's pregnant!?

What a classy, strong, brave, courageous lady. She deserves all the happiness in the world
I love her strength.
Well said :)
Men it’s 2019 and every time she says “I feel the luckiest girl in the world” i cried a river
Same 😢
This made me tear up. Lea is so strong and I pray to God to help her and other people who have gone through similar situations.
It's crazy how strong, humble, brave, beautiful, classy, amazing, and courageous this woman is! I admire and respect her so much wow :')
At 2:27, when Ellen mentions his passing, she's clearing holding the tears back. So sad. I'm glad she's happy now.
She is such a strong person. It must be so hard to speak about Cory but she didn't even cry. I cried during the whole video! :(
you can tell she was being professional and holding back the tears (she doesn't need to cry to prove her love). remember she did say she's been struggling to follow her mother's advice and keep moving forward.
Why?
I just wanna go up there and hug her and tell her how amazing and strong she is!
I'm so intrigued listening how well she speaks.
you can see how much she's trying not to cry and she's smiling and she's just so strong and beautiful :') such an inspiration!
I just wanna hug her, she is so special and strong :')
2016 and I cried watching this. Honestly she deserves so much respect she was so strong damn.
I agree. Her strength and integrity make her a truly beautiful and radiant person. I want her to continue being strong, happy, and doing what she loves, because I love seeing that smile on her face.
Aww how nice to see her again, it's been a while. She's such a sweetheart.
Well she still is a great lady... she dealt with the loss quite well.
I think its sad how she held back her tears so hard
Amen
I know, I thought it was my imagination, but she doesnt have the same loving expression for her new boyfriend that she had for Cory. But i still wish them the best.
That reminded me of the Titanic ;-;
Why? didmt they brake up
+Dizzy Blu When he died they were still dating.
My dad died when I was 13. I'm 16 now and obviously I miss him and watching this brought me to tears... It's inspiring to see Lea so strong and doing well when all this time the whole world has been watching her grieve. I just want to say this: You never really know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have
You can tell she is trying really hard not to cry ;-;
Tara ღ When Ellen talked about „letting the light in“ through your broken heart you can hear her voice break...
Randomly suggested to me in 2020. Okay, TH-cam don’t mind if I do.
Same here
fuck who dislikes this! she is so strong, if i was her on the show and ellen asked me about Cory, i cant even talk anymore. But she is one strong women! RESPECT!
They way she lit up when she was talking about Cory! Aaah she's so wonderful!
Still loving them & will never ever forget. Forever grateful to Glee & every single character. Thank you.
She is just the most amazing and strong woman I've ever seen. I am such a fan of hers and I look up to her so much. So nice to see her smiling and remembering him in the best ways. R.I.P Cory
It's so incredibly sad to hear her talk about him. But her voice is full of strength. It's very admirable.
My eyes filled up with tears from just hearing her talk. :'(
This made me cry :')
She's wonderful.
How pass the time... #3YearsWithoutCory♥
That's beautiful
and yes, officially #4YearsWithoutCory
She's the most perfect human being on Earth! I love her so so much!!!
Hope she can find someone whos as amazing as Cory. Talking about the memory had me in tears shes so strong.
Each time her voice goes high it breaks my heart because you know that is when she is the closest to tears, especially when she starts talking about the grief, and seeing his shoes you can really hear the pain in her voice.
Oh my gosh.. I cannot believe how strong she's being! When my brother died I cried everyday for 3 years.
I cried. She seems like a really genuine person.
Omg Ellen wore the same shirt in her last interview with Cory 😢
Lil' Poundcake no she didnt
Alissa Lauren yes she focking did .-. Go and look .-.
I love her even more
i can't believe how strong is she, i admire her so much! i cried the entire video and she's able to talk about that with a smile on her face, i couldn't do that, such an incredible woman!!
agree :'(

Aww Lea is amazing.. she handles herself so well, so professionally, she is so mature, open and LOVELY! Sorry i HATE Glee but i love her as a human being, she is admirable and inspiring, poor girl losing her loved one, she is such a sweetheart. The end of this video made me cry :(
