I find it real helpful when studying for 20 minutes and 15 minutes of fun. The only way to take information in. I hope this helps others who also suffer Dyslexia.

With lecture classes (for example world history) i would record the class using a recording device that had a indicator counter number. During the lecture, I would note the counter number and write it down at the top left side of each page of notes. Also I would leave a 3/4 inch margin on the left side of my notes and later index the side (Cornell note strategy) when Researching for information for a essay or short answer test, I could fast forward or rewind the recording to clarify details i (obviously) missed. I would never go over the hole lecture. If I knew the instructor was giving a MC test (the most difficult for me to take because it relied on radom facts or bits of unrelated information) I would create flash cards question answer style learning. Stupid in my opinion because information that wasn't connected is useless. (I'm dyslexic so I remember better if the information fits together logically or relates in the greater general picture. ) that only a summary of strategies i used to study for multiple guess question tests.

I wondered if I could pick your brains about something?
I am trying to learn Italian but I feel I am hitting a ceiling. All my lessons are online and I am doing at least 3 hours of learning a week, but I don’t seem to be progressing further. My tutor is great and fantastic, but I am the problem with my learning difficulty!
Trying to fit in learning while in the routine of life is proving difficult as work takes up a lot of my brain power and I find myself logging off, but at the same time logging onto my lessons one minute apart!
I don’t need the reading and writing element of things. Just the listening and speaking only to communicate with family and friends. When I am in Italy, family and friends usually speak dialect amongst themselves, so it would not be great to be exposed to that too much whilst I am learning, so I would need independent exposure.
I have been talking to a tutor about possibly going over to Italy for a 6 day- ish period to try and pick up the language in that way, so it introduces active / situational Learning, but do you have any tips/ thoughts, advice you could provide?

Hey, Any chance you learnt some useful tips that helped you learn Italian?
I'm currently trying to learn Arabic and am in the same position sadly.
I really hope you managed to get the tips needed to start learning Italian.

I can’t stand silence when i study as I get distracted otherwise, and the words help in a way to find a better word ❤ I am dyslexic 😊 I put on a show I have seen before or songs I like, cant do instrumental, I get so distracted in silence 🤐

I have pretty much always had to sort of diagram out my exam questions focusing on the keywords. And I imagine the scene in my mind as well as isolate parts of the question as I try to imagine it.
It's much like a combination of sentence diagramming but for the paragraph, writing out an equation and drawing/imagining in my mind.
No wonder it's so dang exhausting and takes me longer than others.
On the other hand, if it was a pretty easy test for me and it's not real wordy then I get done in half the time as the rest of the class.
I'm so much better at live verbal demonstration tests.

Can you please make a video on how to perform well in MCQs with dyslexia. I am from India, and there is very less exposure to such disability. I am working really hard and unable to overcome this. 🙏🏼

dawg, I'm on my own from the start, seriously there are no resources related to learning disabilities in india even tho there's a lot of students suffering from this but most of them are misunderstood as lazy or don't put in enough effort

    What is dyslexia?
Is it similar to not having a good strategy while solving comprehension? Or the hatred of solving comprehension passages. If so.. Yes... It is very tiresome.
Could you share strategies which can work in solving comprehension passages for exams such as LSAT or some Critical Reasoning questions. It would be grateful.😃😊

It's a neurological processing disorder. However, we excel at seeing and processing things an entirely different way that those without dyslexia don't.
Dyslexia is not a choice. It is a brain processing type.
