    I’m so scared to start college because if lecturing I can’t write and listen I spell all of my words wrongs then I’m confused

      Ariah, I totally understand. I have been there. Is there any way to record the lecture? Or can you go and just listen the the lecture and not worry about taking notes? Have you applied for accommodations in college? A very common accommodation is having a note taker in class or getting someone else's notes.

    I copied whole chapters onto a notebook, word for word, but color coded for reference. This helped me retain the information more .
    For math i also color coded my work for example when i did subtraction it was red and addition i would do it in blue . It helped me visualize the problems , specially in complex formulas.

      I am so glad this helped you. This is a great idea. Color coding things helps me with learning hard tasks.

    I was so scared people would bully me with note taking but I never really understand what I wrote after

    • @dyslexiclabs
      @dyslexiclabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally understand that. How do you do if you just listen and not take notes? Have you tried that. Others draw a picture and that picture helps them remember what was discussed. You could try that.

    I wondered if I could pick your brains about something?
    I am trying to learn Italian but I feel I am hitting a ceiling. All my lessons are online and I am doing at least 3 hours of learning a week, but I don’t seem to be progressing further. My tutor is great and fantastic, but I am the problem with my learning difficulty!
    Trying to fit in learning while in the routine of life is proving difficult as work takes up a lot of my brain power and I find myself logging off, but at the same time logging onto my lessons one minute apart!
    I don’t need the reading and writing element of things. Just the listening and speaking only to communicate with family and friends. When I am in Italy, family and friends usually speak dialect amongst themselves, so it would not be great to be exposed to that too much whilst I am learning, so I would need independent exposure.
    I have been talking to a tutor about possibly going over to Italy for a 6 day- ish period to try and pick up the language in that way, so it introduces active / situational Learning, but do you have any tips/ thoughts, advice you could provide?

      Memory recall is the issue from my experience if you don't make it multi sensory then it is harder to learn something like a second language. How many things can you do at the same time to help it stick. (visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic or movement). For me to learn things I need to be moving while listening. I hope this helps.

      @@dyslexiclabs thank you 🙏 so learning online makes it harder right?

    • @dyslexiclabs
      @dyslexiclabs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@taggthis It can because it is just sitting and listening. Can you add movement while listening?
