This lovely sonata has an interesting performance history. Its dedicatee, Lionel Tertis, played it with Solomon in a private performance. Later they gave the first radio performance. The first concert performance was by Tertis and Artur Rubinstein. In that private performance the page-turner was William Walton.

Never heard of Bliss before. Up to right now, Bliss form was a character in one of Asimov's novels. I will add to my audio archive the 3rd movement that goes from 19.40 to 24.20. Thanks for sharing

Brilliant, thanks! I heard RC play this at the first RNCM Viola Day in mid-80s, along with Bach Chr.Fantasy, always wondered what it was like since then having learned it myself and also taped Paul Silverthorne playing it, which I listened to scores of times, amazing piece.
