Heya neighbor. In Millard, going out tomorrow with my church group to start helping people clean up their houses or salvage what they can. Gonna be a long haul. God Bless.
I lived South Of Offutt when a lot younger and in 1970 when I got out of the service I worked for a Company out of Valley that hauled all the fill to extended the runway out then.
I lived right up the hill from there until last year in Old Towne. It was creepy that day. I remember I was recovering from a surgery and all this traffic kept driving by. Come to find out they only had MINUTES to evacuate that trailer park(s) and businesses Then I started to look on the live feeds of Sarpy County sheriffs boating around checking on places that were underwater a day or two later. Surreal. I actually helped out a person who lost everything by letting them stay for close to a week until they got their FEMA check(which was about a grand) and she found her own place. The sad thing is she JUST moved there about a month and a half at Green Acres! Then the owner of Paradise Lakes homes bailed and still charged people rent while their houses were underwater!! A lot of people lost money in that as well as the flood. That made the news!! I DO NOT like Bellevue anymore. Especially Old Towne. It’s the “Ghetto” of Sarpy county and VERY corrupt.
Was stationed there in the early 1980's, I seen a lot of snow when I was there, but never that much flooding, God Bless All Of You out there and best of luck
I was stationed there from 1984- 1987....spent may hours on that flightline as a crew Chief EC-135C. Never dreamed this would be possible. Hard to believe the water is all the way up to the Bennie Davis Facility. No squadron Picnic at the base lake this weekend I guess.
Was in SAC Elite Guard back in 70's and stationed there for over a year. Loved Bellevue and Omaha. So sorry to see it devestated like that. God Bless you all.....
I used to work at Offutt in 1999 at DFAS for a year in one of the buildings. I was upstairs doing data entry. Never thought back then that this much flooding was possible!
Us Nebraskans have very much feeling for the flood we are not used to this stuff we live smack dab in the middle of the country!! I am saying this as a proud resident of Nebraska who has donated or is donating to schools and homes this flooding has effected my town and other parts of Nebraska we are proud Nebraskans! GO BIG RED
I seen the flood of 1993 do some damage. The Mo. River destroyed a lot of farm ground and flooded a lot of these same towns back then. I personally wouldn't want to build near a river especially the Mo. River just from past experiences with floods. I never did trust the Mo. River. That river is vicious.
Extremely unfortunate circumstances. I hope the new runway and other additions will greatly improve Offutt operations in the 'near' future. Thank you for your time with the Air Force.
I was stationed at Offutt AFB fifteen years ago, this is so heartbreaking to see. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the flood areas. Any suggestions / recommendations where to send flood relief? Thanks for the video.

Many moons ago in 2011 I was there fighting the flooding for the USACE. The FEMA warehouse had 6 feet of water in it. I feel for you and all there in Omaha.
Did you hear that the UP was using high-rail trucks to help evacuate people in Bellevue? I read it on the WOWT page the other day. There have also been at least a dozen helicopters that have flown over my house to assist with the efforts in western Douglas County today.
The levee that protects those huge storage bins... Anyone know when they were inspected last? The gentleman speaking said there was at least another foot of water yet to go thru. Those storage tanks didn't look that far from the water now! 😬 Whats the plan of action in case that area received more water than expected and it reached the tanks? Surely there is some plan of action??? Absolutely devastating! Prayer for all... 🙏
At the last report I heard is that the water didn't rise any farther than a couple inches and stopped. The fuel tanks can be reverse pumped out if needed. Everything was locked down and sealed up before the water came into the base to help prevent contamination of the fuel or leaks. The 55th Wing is well prepared for this scenario and performed it efficiently.
@Jason Tempel Oh they are testing it, not me. My only test is to see if it is hot or cold or tastes bad. I ain't doing that. That reminds me, I need a tetanus shot.
as long as there is enough fuel in the tanks so they don't float. they should be ok . fuel doesn't leak out water won't leak in. but if the tanks float connections will break
It just keeps moving down stream. I live in Norfolk, and 1/3 of the city was evacuated incase the flood diversion failed. Lost a friend who was swept away in the flood nd a coworker who may not have a house to go back to.
Yeah, me and my family were evacuated from Lakewood apartments on Thursday, but later in the day I had enough of the shelter life and we went back home. Hell, the river was going down anyway.
Unfortunately I have a day job that is not allowing me to do that at the same time. Plus, anything about the area is already being covered by authorized sources about Offutt AFB. But I am working on it.
So my wife's house was about 2 blocks up from offutt. Those streets with little Mill or base type houses. Any streets with those little houses touched?
Old Towne is mainly considered everything west of Missouri river where the first settlers established Bellevue to a few blocks in down Mission st. Most current Bellevue area residents consider this expanded out to the base fence line and Galvin Rd as Old Towne area of the city of Bellevue. Housing made in the 40's to support the bomber plant workers are considered apart of the oldest section of the city by most. I guess you could call it newer than Old Towne Bellevue.
Sad stuff. I knew that Offutt was rather low, but I didn't know it was that bad. Was base housing safe? I heard that flight ops have moved down to Lincoln.
Weather modification. The Air Force knows all about it. They need to get real with the public though and tell us the full truth or else we'll face societal collapse.
These Chinese weather weapons are cool in action. Took out two AFBs easy, (Tyndall & Offet) but they better watch out as we have our own sat weather tests coming up.
never fear our brothers Comrade t-rumpski will rush right in there and save the day.....😆 just ask our brothers along the gulf coast and our Puerto Rican brothers+sisters. Have no fear cadet bonespurs is on his way......
@@ronaldrobertson2332 I meant the midwest in general. I wanted one of those homes converted from an underground silo. This has definitely changed my mind. My Grandfather was stationed at Lincoln AFB in NE when there was a Lincoln AFB :)
Yeah, I know, I know. I'm just worried about how this region will recover from all this. It seems most of the places I've been (lived) in Nebraska have been seriously affected. I was stationed at Offutt in '80-'83 and I was born and raised in Fremont. Moved to Niobrara, then Creighton and now Norfolk. This is a beautiful state and to see all this destruction, disturbs me greatly.
The flooding here in ManCavia is pretty bad, railroads are cutoff just about everywhere out of the area. Tracks and roads washing away makes it worse.
Hey neighbor. I'm in Old Town Bellevue

how sad. you can't predict natural disaster, hope no one gets hurt. take good care guys.
How valuable is this base, will the higher-ups try to close it.
Not closing, recovering, restoring, rebuilding.

We had some pretty bad flooding in my area in East Tennessee a couple of weeks ago. Hope it clears out soon for you.
Is the one lane toll bridge still there? Went over it on a foggy night once for the first time, back in the day!

above average snowpac. late melt due to long cold weather late in the year. then a late big precip event during melt=floods
wait until all this north dakota snow hits em. Smitty reporting from Grand Forks ND
Kind of looking forward to it for some sick reason. But yes, flood season starts in May usually, not March. More flooding will be bad.
Right, the South Dakota melt is what we get here mostly.
That is tough. What a mess.
I've seen alot of videos on the flooding but no equipment building burms or trying to detour the water..a excavator would help alot n some places
