I worked in the bike trade for over a decade starting in 2000 and I can say that bike to bike comms have come on leaps and bounds for the general public. Back in the UK the only option really was "Autocom" and you had to have a bloody radio connected and every part over the basic units where add on. Just the handle bar push to talk would cost more than these devices and that was back in 2005. Whilst the latch might not seem very strong there are countries where helmet mounted items be it intercoms or cameras have to release easily in the event of a crash, not saying it is the case and more than likely it is just to save some pennies but it is noteworthy. Back in the day there was even concern regarding the "Troy lee fin" that Anthony Gobert made popular, the idea was the fin could catch in a crash and do head and neck damage. All in 80 bucks or £50 odd is almost chuck away money, I have one of these units that I have just fitted into my own lid that will be used "only" for GPS navigation commands and speed camera warnings so the button function is not something I will worry about. I guess the future progression for this product is a handlebar mounted button arrangement.. Until the last few weeks when I started to look into headset units I was astounded with what you can get now for not very much money, honestly a unit like this would have been a pipe dream when I was riding thousands of miles each year. Thanks anyway for the review very informative and hopefully I do not run into any issues..

Thanks for chiming in on this subject. I do remember the old systems where you had a cord you had to plug into the bike and remember to unplug every time you go off or you would lynch yourself. I haven't posted a video yet as I am still testing them out, But I bought a set of the Cardo Freedom Rider 2. They have a slightly larger speaker, which I did have to do a little work on my wife's helmet to make them fit, but the sound quality is simply astounding. I wouldn't suggest CRANKING them all the way up, but these can easily go loud enough to cover all wind noise and tailpipe noise of my Indian. They thump too. They can be voice activated or push button. Only four buttons, solid click, easy to locate with the gloves on. Great product, for 195 Euro. Well worth the upgrade. Thank again for your comments

I''m using it for few years now. It's not that hard to operate volume control even with gloves. You can't pair it with Sena, but there's a other cheap intercoms that can. Also it will be nice to be able to communicate between more than two people at the same time.

I have used similar kit for year+ now, and the ~40,000mi and while had a couple issues (plastic hold kit breaking, one unit quitting in heavy rain in on Alcan) they were rock solid and cheap to replace.
Great battery life, quality mic/headphones, the lack of ground chat their biggest impediment.

@@OpenRoader some more information on how they work here:
If u connect for instance 4 of them, they r fully duplex, i.e. All 4 four can talk and listen to each other at the same time without having to press any buttons once set up, just talk normaly. See the comments to this video th-cam.com/video/fCgSiqWvUTA/w-d-xo.html
      ____
So i guess the real drawback is the placement of the volume buttons (and the off button) and that u cannot use (listen to) the GPS and chatt at the same time. (Also negative is that they unclick easier). But they seem to work quite well for chatting and listening to music, while listening to the GPS is only possible to do alone.

as the unit has cheap jack plugs : make an extension cord and a kind of strap and wrap the unit on your arm or something. then you always can see the buttons. problem solved. heck this beats the wau to expensive sena and cardo systems.

The off button is the same as On button.
You only have to set volume once. Maybe once or twice to tweak (gloves off) and never use the buttons again.

Ive bought a set of 2 Chinese Wish interphone V6 years ago (I guess 4 years) and they are great and still working fantastic.
Used them with my (now ex) girlfriend and it made riding so much more fun!!
We were having a great time while both on a different bike and we just had fun, making jokes, so handy that you can talk about what you see instead of a hand gesture that the other didnt understand.
When I was hungry or wanted a cappuccino, gasoline or whatever.
The distance we could talk was amazing, hundreds of meters. No problem!
I paid €57 for both of us!
Now I drive alone but still uses it for my navigation and speed warnings.
Best thing I have ever bought in China
Oke...volume buttons to small, thats the only downside.
And it works 8 hours. You cannot charge it while using.
If you need longer than 8 hours...bring a mobile charger and charge them while you stop for lunch etcetera.

this is what I bought for myself and my daughter on my valkyrie with 6 into 6 straight pipes.
      www.trademe.co.nz/1543715216
those are NZ$ not US$ and is for a pair. The handlebar remote is essential. Those tiny buttons stuck to the side of your helmet where you can't see them are useless. My daughter (pillion) wears her remote on a string around her neck and tucked into her jacket.
My bike is VERY loud and when I cane it, forget about hearing the intercom, forget about hearing anything
At town speed (50-80km/h) the intercom is pretty good, at highway speed (100km/h) you gotta put the volume at max and pretty much shout into your helmet, but it is better than no intercom at all.
When you consider a pair of good Senas is around NZ$1000, I am quite happy with my Chinese knock off.
