- "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" is a song written by Rudy Clark. The song was made a hit when recorded by Betty Everett, who hit No. 1 on the Cashbox magazine R&B charts with it in 1964. Recorded by dozens of artists and groups around the world in the decades since, the song became an international hit when remade by Cher in 1990.
She is my grandmother's first cousin. May she continue to rest in peace.
Lucky boi
Hey family. I'm Betty's grandson
Amen to that!
Sup cuzzos
Bless up.
The Original and the BEST !!! Go Betty ❤
It's not the original. Merry Clayton sang it first.
It was very popular even BEFORE Cher.
Amen to that.
Much better version than Cher's.
Cher: Another non-black person who sings a black person's song and gets more recognition and fame than the original artist. That's the Whyte American way.
THE GREAT BETTY EVERETT. What an outstanding talent. Beautiful voice, captivating style, stunning beauty, charm and grace with a soulful sound that just glides over your heart and makes it soar. No one today compares. This magical era in music is gone. Thank God these artists and their magic live on in these recordings. Beyonce and whoever, no comparison.
agree 100
Agreed
Betty si es artista, cantante y con voz talento y música maravillosa, Beyoncé es otra cosa pero ni parecido, todo márquetin y estrafalario
❤
Outstanding
What a Fantastic Voice
Miss. Betty Everett
The Shoop Shoop Song
🎶 Yes We Love You
Betty
The singers they hide from us, but in our hearts they live, she is talented, love her
How is it hidden... It's here... there's a difference between being less known and being hidden lol
Stunning voice and by far the best version of this song. She performs effortlessly and dropped the hammer here.
😂😂 Cher's version completely blows this one out of the water. It's not even close.
I honestly prefer Cher
@@rossogden9920 dont make such a strong opinion, but both songs are good.
This is the original and should be commended for that but chers voice takes it to another level lets not lie, similar to big mamas hound dog and elvis presley
@@TonyTynebridge I agree. I was just saying that his opinion was a bit strong
Whatttt? Who knew this legend lived her final years in 53511 a little busling town South of Milwaukee. Wow,You learn something new everyday! R.I.P.
Ms. Everett!🙏🏿🙏🏿
Yea my grandmother died in Beloit Wisconsin!
What a fabulous voice
So much energy!
Beauty-full 💖
haha i love her performance, it looks like she's listening to the audience questions and singing a reply to them
she is lip-syncing but yes
The original hit by Betty Everett will never be bettered by Cher.
The original is not from Betty Everett, but was written and produced by some men in 1963 and i think his wife sang IT, and it wasnt a Hit, then in 65 Betty Everett was the first to make the single popular, before Cher, there was also short after Betty, a Version of Aretha Franklin which was quite good
Linda Rhondstat does a bang up job on the The Muppets Show.
It WAS bettered by Cher. I like this version, too.
What a beauty!
And yes, this is the definitive version of this song! ❤
The original version was by Merry Clayton and was really great too!!
Imagine having to get it right the first take she makes it look effortless
I know this should have more likes. However everyone only knows Cher's version from the movie Mermaids 🙄
Or this version came out when internet wasnt a thing and this generation from this time doesnt know how to use it lmao
I actually only knew Vonda Shepherd's version from Ally McBeal but it's lovely to hear the original!
Cher sings it in C major. Betty Everett's original here is in D major
Exactly.. is what I always say, better does it way better than Cher
I knew this version way before the Cher one
This is the version I remember but Cher did a great job of redoing it.
She did it awful. She should have left it alone. My grandmother the best!
Nah, Cher's cover was lousy. Chuck Fer!
@@AvDominguez74Sadly whenever other races rename these songs you have their fans coming in saying this are worst saying the original artist version was nit better. We see this even with Betty in 63 singing the song Your no Good these folks mentioning someone Ronstadt a decade later doing it,doing it better in a just copied Betty’s way ,doing the most to try to sound soulful. With this song You no Good I also have to tell them yes Dee Warwick did it first in 63,but months, later so did Betty remade it after also in 63,both doing the same song brought their soul to it,sound totally different vocally and Betty months later doing it . Her version seemed to get the most notice many later followed her version when they remade it ,they just watered it down ,for the likes of a Ronstadt and with this song a Cher.
,their fan’s.
Her voice was Beautiful
Absolutely fantastic! Betty fires on all cylinders
I always liked her version I liked her singing
A beauty with talent. ❤
WAYYYY better than any of the later remakes. This is the real deal.
Cher version is the best version
@@michi4056 Yeah, if you like to hear it sung by someone who has no real voice.
@@thepurpleufo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@thepurpleufono real voice? Coming from a deaf person apparently
@@JiafeiProducts6969 No. I'm not deaf. I just know a great voice from a mediocre voice.
My Dear. Thank You for Singing ❤
With Best Regards
Christina, Winona and Cher 😊
What a delight!
The original… as always… awesome
The original version was by Merry Clayton, not this one!!
Her voice is amazing ❤❤
What a great song and spectacular performance
I love it.
< old. These are memories for me. Cher, I believe revived this song after the artist's death. Thank you for the memories.
You can see Cher's version on my oldies playlist, Gordon Smyth
SING WITH ANGELS.........u are loved
she was so cute and nice...
They did a little performance of this tonight at a 70th bday. Dang this girl could sing….
Happy to say I knew and listened to the Betty Everett version far before I ever heard Chers version, though Cher did a very good remake of the song.
Excellent
❤❤❤❤
1964 - that takes us back. The middle part is what gets me. She hits a relative major note that is outside of the minor melody. (Say F# on the Dmaj for a Cmin main melody) This is what makes this song so effective. Of course her miming make this look like she is really singing it. I'm guessing it is a lip-synch for Am. Bandstand or similar. The cha-cha interlude is amusing. I had to come back to this today to hear it again.
No, she hits the A# in a D major song (leading tone of relative minor of b).
The best version
Awesome!
Amazing song
Discovered it on a wonderful documentary “6 feet from Stardom “ about background singers

my favorite part! Best melisma
Love it!
Not sure what ever, but this is the version of the song I will die knowing.
Wonderful voice.
Essa voz faz a melhor versão. Maravilha
Wouah bravo
Ce que c'est beau
J aime beaucoup plus cette version originale
Short but sweet❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Way better than Cher. I remember this version and just recently listen to Cher’s version.
Superb
Great song!
Great voice!!!
Thank you
😍😍😍😍😍😍
She looks like Brandy
Tiny Toons episode “Toon TV” has brought me here.
Amazing
Cher's version pales behind this!
I believe this was on American Bandstand.
Yes it was
Yes, it was absolutely on American Bandstand. I remember where I was when I saw it!!!
LOVE
First know the Cheers cover but I need to listen the original version so... I am not disappointed in the slightest
RIP! 11/2023
I love Cher and her voice but this is so much better ❤ Betty Everett's voice and tone is so enjoyable, even though I know only this song
The best version was the original by Merry Clayton
Merry Clayton did this first, and I like it more, though this is the definitive hit.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Women used to dress so classy and beautifully on those days
Love Al
Better than Cher for sure!
Ohh oky this is the real version...

What year was this recordet? Does anyone know?
I bought the single in 1964
Can someone tell me what the song says it’s not my first language and I don’t get all the words after it’s in his…?
Vim pelos Simpsons 😂
Betty é incrível. Porém prefiro essa música na voz de aretha flanklin
Ladies take note. THIS is what men want. Not Nicki Minaj types
Alguien más llegó por los Simpson
I prefer this than Cher
Some people only know to Robin other people music -.-
So, it's in his kiss?
happy b in h
Better than Cher. And this is no little accomplishment ...
I agree black power but I'm not black because I'm from Philippines we are not black
Hey I LOVE Filipinos! After all Bruno Mars is Filipino so is Filipina Lea Solanga of Les Miz!
A perfect example of when the cover is better than the original.
Nothing compares to Cher's version.
Sorry, but that's pure BS. This version is far more authentic, more of a true classic, and her voice is amazing! Cher's version was over-produced, and her voice is mediocre.
@@Bike_Lion Stick to flipping bergers Gomer. Your career as a music critic was an abject failure before it even got started. 🤣🤣
Io preferisco la versione di Aretha Franklin
Gracias al gay Bart Simpsons por esta canción 🤣🤣🎶🎶
