Everything about this is so good. Aretha is brilliant, gorgeous, and emotes pure soul, The Sweet Inspirations are incredible, the BAND is beyond belief! The song is so great thanks to Burt Bacharach. It’s a perfect storm of beauty
Love the manerisms of Aretha , embodying her song at 2 minutes 7 seconds mouthing “ Live With Out U” [02:07] “ briefly as she gazes into what some call the enchanted source of her ethereal energy and talent. Just a beautiful voice, wholesome talent, badass superstar, mightily humble and composed ! Thank you for these wonderful moments sharing your gift Ms. Franklin. Wish I could have seen you during these years live!
It is profound how many have sung the song before her (the great Dionne Warrick) and after her (Whitney and Natalie) but not one or two them COMBINED can match her simplicity. She sung the song from the point of view of love from the heart. Not trying to sound pretty, pitch perfect, not harmonizing. Singing from the perspective of love eternal.
Most stirring, unrestrained powerful live performance of this Bacharach/David masterpiece. Caroline, Erma and Althema are killing it on backgrounds, perfect recording.
The bass player is Dave Richmond. Here is an extract from the same show where he can be seen with his Burns Black Bison Bass : th-cam.com/video/uxGXUHvYQJc/w-d-xo.html "The Cliff Richard Show" Bank Holiday Special, 31 August 1970 at 8:00pm on BBC1
2:20 Aretha breathless artfully doesn't enunciate through the word "one" in the lyric line 'no one but you' (She just silently whisper 'says' it). Notice her right eyebrow rise; something fleeting heartfelt imparted. And she holds the microphone two hands, in a prayerful reverence. So masterfully being caught in the moment Oh, what *glorious* artistry.
The moment I wake up Before I put on my makeup I say a little prayer for you While combing my hair, now, And wondering what dress to wear, now, I say a little prayer for you Forever, and ever, (You'll stay in my heart and I will love you) (Forever) Forever, and ever, (We never will part Oh, how I love you) (Together) Together, forever, (That's how it must be to live without you) Would only mean heartbreak for me, ooh I run for the bus, dear, While riding I think of us, dear, I say a little prayer for you At work I just take time And all through my coffee break-time, I say a little prayer for you Forever, and ever, (You'll stay in my heart and I will love you) (Forever) Forever, and ever, (We never will part Oh, how I love you) (Together) Together, forever, (That's how it must be To live without you) Would only mean heartbreak for me My darling, believe me For me there is no one but you Please love me too Answer my prayer Answer my prayer now babe, oh-oh Forever, and ever, ever (You'll stay in my heart and I will love you) (Forever) Forever, and ever, (We never will part Oh, how I love you) (Together) Together, forever, (That's how it must be to live without you) Would only mean heartbreak for me, nobody but me My darling, believe me For me there is no one but you Please love me too Answer my prayer Answer my prayer now babe Say you love me too Answer it right now babe Answer my prayer ❤
Every version of her singing this song is IMMORTAL. There is no equal, no answer to this woman singing this song. Whitney, Anita, Mariah, Donna, Chaka, Barbara and Dionne combined cannot match her heart. And I love them all.
Possibly, several Aretha Franklin websites have credited Sweet Inspirations with the backing vocals including Cissy. None of these 3 look like her so I’m guessing they are miming to the song or backup singers.
Simply a stellar line up,Aretha is a monster soul singer, here at the best of her career.......Evelyn,Almeda and Wylene are....terrificly sexy,of a haunting beauty and fantastic singers,to be thrown to the ground....
I had heard Ms Lattimore's work on several singles she did as a solo artist, however, her best work clearly on backgrounds with Aretha. Her style reminds me of late Myrna Smith of the Sweet Inspirations. One of those soulful sirens who never achieved major soul success, though you'd never know it watching her here and on Aretha's "Don't Play That Song" rendition.
El increíble arreglo orquestal, a la altura de esta impresionante interprete, los coros puestos con tanto gusto... Todo absolutamente en vivo... Simplemente devastador....
I adore her, and Sweet Inspirations. I took them for granted when I was young and now I miss just turning on the car radio and just floating on their sound.
Better than 99% of what’s on the radio. Just pure human talent and glory.
How come this does not have more than a million views? The best rendition ever!! Point blank. Those back ground singers are giving me goosebumps!

Shivers down my spine. The clarity and purity of that voice is unmatched, what a talent.

Just incredible. No inner ear, no support track.
What a resource !
Aretha's voice was amazing and she had such a great stage presence even with just little movement!!

The best singer and voice in mainstream music. No one has surpassed her to this day.

What a beautiful memory of my childhood.
Now in 2024 I am praying for the World.
Aretha recorded this song in 1968. Based on her outfit and the outfits of the backup singers, I'd say this video was recorded in the 60s, not in 1974.
Did Aretha Franklin wear a fro in the 60s? I do not believe she did.
This was done probably around 1969 or 1970....the clothes and transitions to an AFRO.
@@dman221yes I think you’re correct
She was a tiny little thing!❤
Aretha’s hair was ginger in 1974. This was likely 1970.
