Hi Amy. All are great tips. I especially relate to not worrying about style. I was feeling like that had to be there from the start and everything in my sketchbook needed to be cohesive. But now I'm all over the place, playing with different mediums. Following different tutorials on you tube. Focusing nows on just getting in the practice and having fun. 🙂
Lots of great advice in that video - I'm sure we would all be less-stressed painters if we managed to faithfully follow even just half of the tips. Thanks for sharing - kind regards, Brian.
Here's two shows for you to watch at times and you'll really like them portrait artist of the year and landscape artists of the year and you can watch them over and over again like I do they're really good
Very good tips! Number one is sometimes the hardest, but I always tell myself: what else are you going to do, just keep trying. (So far, I've listened to myself, lol!)
Oh man I definitely needed the 'draw what you see' tip, I'm notorious for just assuming what's there cuz I'm either lazy or fed up with a piece. The other ones were great too!
Thanks for that Amy! These are my favorite kind of videos because I always learn an awesome nugget or two. In fact, this one I've listened to twice! I really appreciated what you said about not worrying about our style. I've always struggled with that one because my style seems all over the place. I'd love to have a recognizable style, but I find my joy in creating so I will just be happy with that. Oh and not comparing myself to other artists. A BIG ouch on that one. I've been doing that a lot lately and have been totally aware of it. I've been really working hard to keep my art out of the picture when I am admiring someone else's, except to pay attention at how the artist did what they did. Was it the color palette that drew me in? The composition, or the subject matter. Or maybe it was a simple appreciation of the skill involved.
I love watercolors. My thing everyone shows or teaches flowers. lol I’m not a flower person . All the teaching books, subscriptions, and TH-camrs all about flowers. Every teaching tools I have is flowers 💐. Have any suggestions?
Most of my watercolor tutorials over on patreon are brids or animals. Only one of all my tutorials are flowers. Don't know if you are interested in that or not but I thought I would share! Thanks for watching!
I must meow saying, that this video is absolutely useful and inspiring 😺👍. Whenever i drop by at the bookstores and grocery stores, i usually see the twin markers and watercolour felt tip pens 🖍️ and ask myself: Which of these markers 🖍️ give the best marks at drawing and colouring the art works 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️. I still create my own art works with the traditional felt pens, traditional twin markers and watercolour felt tip pens 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ 😺👍. And of course, i use the original traditional papers 😺👍.
