I just realized. The things he says they need are mutually exclusive. They cannot coexist. Scarlet and Ultraviolet are on opposite sides of the spectrum and do not touch, and silence and melody cannot coexist. Where there is sound there cannot be silence and vice versa. No matter what both of them cannot be simultaneously happy.
This is my fav reaction to this song, he explains it well, he also appreciate the amazing drums, i like people who appreciate lyrical content and musical components to the song
That smile when the drop hit. This was the first song that I really related a past toxic relationship to. The more I delved into Sleep Token the more I connected.
I still remember the first time I heard this song back in 2019. It immediately transported me back to two toxic relationships I experienced. One in my late teens and the other in my mid-twenties. It immediately brought back all those difficult memories and painful feelings that I hadn't thought about in almost 40 years! The power of Sleep Token! Great reaction. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
"I look for scarlet and you look for ultra violet." You need the melody, I only need the silence." Vessel´s way of portraying emotions in lyrics are just stunning. Classic opera and Sleep Token are the 2 things that truly touch my soul when it comes to music.
I see this song as being song from the perspective of the abuser (sleep) gaslighting the abused (vessel) into thinking its their fault, classic "look at what you made me do". She says she only needs the silence but its him that needs the melody. She is glorifying the violence in the relationship saying it brings them closer and elevates what they have. Also humans see in ultraviolet and sleep (the deity in ST lore that Vessel is in love with) see's in infrared ie scarlet. In the lore sleep asked vessel to become her avatar so he could allow her to walk the mortal realm through him which is the debt that she owes to him.
One theory about this song is that this is a different narrative and it’s sleep saying this to vessel since in the lyrics it says you are one of the many but you’re now on your own. Kinda of like that theory for the song higher.
I feel if I ever was a therapist that I would recommend ST to my patients if they were having relationship troubles (except for maybe a few songs). Vessel just knows how to make you feel his emotions. I am a grown man that likes to believe he has no issues in life. I listen to ST and can’t help but get emotional and feel what Vessel is feeling. He tells a story and just immerses you in it. It’s a gift. I am so glad I am alive to witness this genius!
I am new to your channel…love that you are listening to Sleep Token!! This is my favorite band that ever existed. We are extremely lucky to be able to witness this talent in our lifetime! Check out the video for Fall For Me, or DYWTYLM♥️😢
That theme of a toxic relationship(s) is something that can be found in the whole discography. I can relate to that topic. Reminds me of a my past struggles with BPD. But that was around almost 20 years ago. It got a lot better. However the lyrics keep kind of reminding me of the things that I was capable of and also a very toxic relationship that I was stuck in for a long time. But: I learned from it 😊
I’m really curious to know if you have thoughts about the final “the debt that I owe”. Where he screams it as the music drops and gets heavy. Great video and TIA
IMO- it’s a reflection of lyrics- the “debt that I owe” is what keeps bringing him back & at the end he repeats the lyric devolving into the fury & violence as the music also pivots to reflect the chaos the relationship becomes
You have to do Atlantic. You might actually cry. I would love to see a therapist’s pov on it.

incompatibility is definitely a recurring theme - in The Night Does Not Belong To God, it's day/night
It's the longing for something that sends him in a viscious cycle. Think he even uses those words on one of the songs on Sundowning as well.
Their discography is the ultimate Trilogy of Trauma such a beautifully tragic journey, enjoy the ride!!
Sleep Token Lyrics are so interesting for people who explore the human psyche. This one pictures a toxic relationship so well lyrically and musically.

If you really want a gut wrenching one, def checkout Bloodsport (from the room below) just Vessel and his piano, hauntingly beautiful.

Finally!! Love the reaction!
Lyrics are needed for Sleep Token and Lorna Shore, but for different reasons.
