    What is the safest way to put up or wear relaxed hair? I don’t like wearing my hair down, but putting it up causes it to break at the stress point.

      The key in having your relaxed hair up is not to do it tight. Loose ponytails can work, you can also protect the ends from blowing in wind by making a light bun. Also try to change the areas you catch up your hair.

    I’ve noticed you have changed relaxer from the ORS to Design, and also another TH-camr favorite relaxer was the ORS! she also has changed relaxer, is there something going wrong with the ORS? is it part of the cancer scare? 😢

      Yes she changed her relaxer because ORS does contain DMDM hydantoin which can cause cancer over regular use.

      Good question I have done some research and I found that the affirm and design essential relaxers are the only relaxer that is clear on the ingredients listings. There are particular ingredients that the other bands use which are not disclose on the ingredients listing. It is also been difficult to get the ors relaxer in my locality. On the ingredients listing for the ors relaxer it does not list DMDM hydantoin which is a form of formaldehyde that is use to prevent products from going bad. However, this is found in their hair care products. This type of formaldehyde is found in almost every hair and skin care products so it is widely used.

      That is awesome that your hair is doing better. In colder climates our hair tends to be dryer. Wearing a silk scarf when outside can help keep the moisture in your hair.

    Hi, I’m currently relaxed thinking about transitioning into using keratin instead of relaxers. What’s the best way that I could transition into doing that thanks?

    • @kurlymeka
      @kurlymeka  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Raina so the best way is to Focus on the new growth. So you would apply the keratin to the new growth or the root sections only. As soon as you get to the desired hair length you would cut off the relaxed ends.

    I have long and silky hair but after the last relax day about 2 weeks ago, I've been experiencing breakage and dryness😢. I've lost a lot of my hair. Please what do I do to stop that and can steaming stop the breakage? I've never done that tho

    • @kurlymeka
      @kurlymeka  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be that your hair is over process if that is the case you will need to apply moisture treatment to your hair. Ensure too that any product that you are using only contain one or two protein ingredients no more than that otherwise you could further dry your hair out., so please check the ingredients listing.

    My hair is dry and breaking in the crown what can I do to prevent them from happening again

    • @kurlymeka
      @kurlymeka  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First you have to control the dryness, since dryness equals breakage. You would need to find out what is making your hair so dry. Next you want to in cooperate some moisturizing treatment products to your hair care. If you put your hair in a ponytail at the crown area then you would want to stop doing so immediately. Also when you moisturize your hair pay special attention to the crown area.

      @@kurlymeka whenever I travel overseas mostly In the cold from Jamaica my hair tends to get dry on my trip. In Jamaica it is more moist because of the weather. Now I migrated since the middle part is broken so bad so I bought Mt usual moisture treatment and protein treatment now and do it myself now instead of paying a hairdresser here it do it. I'm strongly thinking of cutting it all off and start fresh but I'm treating first. My hairdresser in Jamaica once told me the water overseas doesn't work well with my hair. What do you think?

  • @tribecupid5746

    I use motions lye mild strength relaxer, and it takes me hours - I mean 4.5 hours plus - to get the neutraliser to turn white! 😭
    I use the same brand neutraliser (motions) and I’ve made sure that the products are not old (well within the expiry/best before date). I also make sure to scoop out what I need into a separate bowl and not double-dip. I base my scalp and the relaxed part of my hair with Vaseline or the Affirm scalp protecting base.
    I know I live in a hard water area but 4 hours + to neutralise is not normal, surely?! Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas/tips would be very welcome because this is the second time it has happened to me and I’m baffled!

    • @kurlymeka
      @kurlymeka  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow I am sorry you had to go through that but that is not normal. Before you shampoo rinse the relaxer thoroughly first, then after apply your shampoo after the sixth wash the shampoo should be looking white. Your wash time should not take 4 hours. Try also to rinse thoroughly in between washes.

      @@kurlymeka Thank you for the reply - very nice of you! Just one more question, if you don’t mind: I’m wondering if part of the issue is the Vaseline base - maybe it’s too thick/dense and is creating a barrier for the neutraliser?

    • @kurlymeka
      @kurlymeka  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tribecupid5746 no I wouldn't think so as the neutralizing shampoo is formulated to remove the residue of relaxer and grease build ups. The motions neutralizing shampoo is non sulphate so it is less harsh than a neutralizing shampoo with sulphate. You could use a sulphate neutralizing shampoo first and follow up with the motion non sulphate neutralizing shampoo.
