I bought Fantastic Planet one day at a Slackers CDs and Games in Columbia, MO and didn't listen to it for like 2 years; it just sat in my top dresser drawer. When I finally listened to it I flipped out and looked for tickets to a show, and they had already broken up. I have regretted it ever since.
1997 was one of the greatest years ever. I was into Star Wars, Legos, Micro Machines, Sega Genesis, and rock music. Lived in an awesome neighborhood only a few houses from my best friend. Great times.
Troy Van Leeuwen is one of the best guitar player of all the world, he can be melancolic and frenetic at the same time, demostrated with his prefomence in this band Failure and how he was playing in APC and how hi is playing now in QOTSE. He is great !!!
For those that don't know, this song is not about being stuck on a person, its about being stuck on a song (a melody to be more precise). This could be one of the best songs ever IMO.
ive got the video of their show at the whiskey a go-go in 96, but im too computer stupid to know how to get it on my computer. after that im sure i could figure out how to upload it.
@alfalfa19 It's not about drugs , it's about a song that sticks in your head. Both Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards have said that. That rumour started because of Gregs problems.....
@Fitz125 The Fantastic Planet album is most certainly rife with songs about heroin addiction, but this one actually about pop songs that get stuck in your head even though you don't want them there. (Which, I'll admit, is itself sort of an allusion to addiction.)
I agree. But in some ways it's better they weren't too famous, because now you have to work to discover them and it's so worth it. It's like discovering a precious gem or something. Unfortunately because of Paramore all these emo fans are discovering Failure and insulting them.
The original studio recording was not played with a guitar on that part. It was a grand piano run through a Marshall on high gain. You might have known that though.
Whoa chill out lol. I disagree with all the people on here saying Paramore is better, I do not like Paramore, but they are entitled to their opinions. If they say they like Paramore better, fine. I do wish Paramore fans wouldn't go on Failure videos and comment on how much they suck. Just keep crap like that to yourself, you know?
i know this sounds stupid, but i thought paramore was the who wrote and sang this song! until i read a comment saying about this band, then boom! realization. lol
Paramore did a cover to this song. They also did covers to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate so now emos are discovering all these bands and comparing them to Paramore and making emo videos over this music. Very sad.
I think they are typical example of- in wrong place in wrong time- phrase. In that time most of the audience still was macho-hard rock/ metal audience. They would have much commercial succes in late 90-s early 00.
@vicmal2112 i don't know much about this band. I do know that anytime a band is accused of making a song about something which is politically incorrect, they come up with a nice story "sanitizing" the song as in : Deftones: Knife Party. Also, as a man with much experience with heroin, I can tell by looking at this video, at least 2 of the guys are stone junkies.
Patcaboli, i love the smashing pumpkins but to say that "today" is a better song than failure's "stuck on you" is just ignorant. Get real and grow a set of ears dude! Failure is the greatest and most underrated band of the ninties.
billy corgan sounds like jerry lewis going "hey laaaaady" in a "bullet with butterfly wings" he left to do that zwan album...gee, can't think of one song off there.....plus he looks like lex luthor on smallville. the pumpkins do have some good songs, but don't say that "today", one of their weakest songs, is better than this one, ok? get real
Sorry to the weezer fans, but with Failure aroung the same time. Us non wezeer fans should have never been subjected to them. Failure is 10x the band, over some of that sorry ass MTV produced shit, that came out in the mid 90's
wow... this band is horrible. I really wish they wouldn't have called one of their albums Fantastic Planet so that I would have never randomly found their horrible music on here.
his voice sounds just like the record. such a good song
When Tool say's you rule, you fucking rule.
You're G'dman right
Where did they say that?
@@demondrug7788 Maynard said it...He covered "The Nurse Who Loved Me" with A Perfect Circle..He's performed live with them multiple times.
Failure's Fantastic Planet, Quicksands Slip, Far's Water & Solutions- so many good albums by amazing bands go unnoticed..
makeshift26 yes!!!
Excellent taste

Failure will always be one of my fav rock bands.
one of the most underrated bands ever... effing great song!
1997 was one of the greatest years ever. I was into Star Wars, Legos, Micro Machines, Sega Genesis, and rock music. Lived in an awesome neighborhood only a few houses from my best friend. Great times.
that place should be packed with people piled on top of one another.
AMAZING performance!
Awesome! that's Troy Van Leeuwen from AperfectCIrcle, Queens of the Stone Age, and ENEMY playing lead guitar....starting off the song!!
Dude. I just found this and subbed. One of the best songs ever!
This video was the first One that I watched and finelly met Failure.
the best under rated music band in history
Troy Van Leeuwen is one of the best guitar player of all the world, he can be melancolic and frenetic at the same time, demostrated with his prefomence in this band Failure and how he was playing in APC and how hi is playing now in QOTSE. He is great !!!
Failure rocks!!!!
Awesome sound despite the time it was filmed and they fucking nailed it. Shame only 20 some people showed up....
Fantastic song!!
one of the most under-rated bands ever.
Ahhh this song never gets old:)
changed my life and my music...
one of my all time favorite songs
i was 5 when this was uploaded, didnt exist when the song was made. It took until 2019 for me to find failure, or did they find me?
Way too small crowd!!! People have no Idea what they missed!!!
this is currently my fav song,
Straight from LA to Cashville. Fucking rocked in in the Ville many times.
its a great song *-*
great song, great band, but so weird when the video and audio go out of sync in this clip.
I’ve never heard a lead tone like that. Anyone know what effects that is?
AMEN!
For those that don't know, this song is not about being stuck on a person, its about being stuck on a song (a melody to be more precise). This could be one of the best songs ever IMO.
Thank you
Def about heroin.
Hey joemc, thanks for puttin this up man.Is this in TX?Failure's MySpace page has Ken Andrews on there for his new stuff.Pretty good also.
Talk about some awesome tone...
ive got the video of their show at the whiskey a go-go in 96, but im too computer stupid to know how to get it on my computer. after that im sure i could figure out how to upload it.
man, this seems like a lifetime ago. kurt cobain had already been dead for three years here.
@skylarkjz Nope Houston 1997... Failure was no more by 98.
Awesome.
@alfalfa19 It's not about drugs , it's about a song that sticks in your head. Both Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards have said that. That rumour started because of Gregs problems.....
Perfect circle's version of Nurse SUX Failure was classic dam shame they broke up as early as they did GREAT songwriting
Excellent, and im into brutal death metal...
@Fitz125 The Fantastic Planet album is most certainly rife with songs about heroin addiction, but this one actually about pop songs that get stuck in your head even though you don't want them there. (Which, I'll admit, is itself sort of an allusion to addiction.)
Thank you
I think this song iss great, and the paramore cover too
@kumaraisin Right!!?? you know whats up!
@Andrash88 This was late 90's.....it's 1997!
@vdoza33 but this is like the very end of their career. if theyd stuck around even half a year longer i'm sure they would'vebeen the hot shit.
I agree. But in some ways it's better they weren't too famous, because now you have to work to discover them and it's so worth it. It's like discovering a precious gem or something. Unfortunately because of Paramore all these emo fans are discovering Failure and insulting them.
@jebus150 ih yeah! i guess he plays 'go with the flow' always with this LP.
They sound about the same live, good band.
lindos
same here dude.
wow
i agree to a point at least they haven't been forgotten like most emo bands
AMEN!
me too....
T T
It's not even that, It's about having a boring repetitive song stuck in your head. Ken Andrews said it himself.
i love this song and i think paramore did a really good cover of it. original is still the best tho haha. my fav song atm
stuck on youuu....
When and where was this, please?
Urban Art Bar in Houston TX. 6/1/97
@Andrash88 They were indeed much ahead of their time.
@alfalfa19 I've done heroin too, but that's regardless..........they wrote this song for different reasons than what what you may think.
I thought the opening riff sounded like "Today" too. The big difference between the two is that Failure's song is better.
What guitar effect is he using in the riff?
+Callum the Paranoid Android Chorus effect I think.
The original studio recording was not played with a guitar on that part. It was a grand piano run through a Marshall on high gain. You might have known that though.
+Callum the Paranoid Android It's his A/DA Flanger set to sound more like a chorus.
Whoa chill out lol. I disagree with all the people on here saying Paramore is better, I do not like Paramore, but they are entitled to their opinions. If they say they like Paramore better, fine. I do wish Paramore fans wouldn't go on Failure videos and comment on how much they suck. Just keep crap like that to yourself, you know?
the voice of reason!
Ouch... why so harsh? Anyways thanks for stopping by!
right, and the drummer is in Veruca Salt now
i know this sounds stupid, but i thought paramore was the who wrote and sang this song! until i read a comment saying about this band, then boom! realization. lol
Paramore did a cover to this song. They also did covers to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate so now emos are discovering all these bands and comparing them to Paramore and making emo videos over this music. Very sad.
underrated... :(
this guy can totally be Kellan Kyle from the Thoughtless novel from S.C. Stephens
FAILURE WHY name their band failure?
I think they are typical example of- in wrong place in wrong time- phrase. In that time most of the audience still was macho-hard rock/ metal audience. They would have much commercial succes in late 90-s early 00.
Sorry to the Mr.-1 but Failure owns weezer.
@dershdude omg totalllllllllllllllly
this song is about being stuck on a drug, heroin to be exact. the sound just oozes black tar.
@alfalfa19 fail dude, it's not.
wtf is paramore :D?
troyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I just think he's Remo Lupin.
@joemc83 sadly
@vicmal2112

Addiction is real -what’s your point ?
he looks like keanu abit lol
Uh huh.
I would give my sack and it's contents to have been at this gig.
Seattle music is dead.
It's all pop-rock or some other indie bullshit.
Washington hasn't produced a good band sine the 90's.
Trust me, I live here xD
hello there
do you still use this account?
I fell in love with a girl and this song reminds me of her.. I hate her so much
i didn't know keanu reeves sang for failure. learn somethin new everyday

I liked this song better when it was called "today" by the smashing pumpkins
Patcaboli, i love the smashing pumpkins but to say that "today" is a better song than failure's "stuck on you" is just ignorant. Get real and grow a set of ears dude! Failure is the greatest and most underrated band of the ninties.

This song's about getting addicted to heroin.
Paramore sucks
LOL he's like 14. How can you take this serious. Anyway, what does that shitty band have with Failure?
Who the fuck is Paramore? A cover band??
You must not know music
wow... this band is horrible. I really wish they wouldn't have called one of their albums Fantastic Planet so that I would have never randomly found their horrible music on here.
@skylarkjz Nope Houston 1997... Failure was no more by 98.
