Literally the only place to buy parts for an A4 is from foreign militaries, because the US has plenty of parts in the Davis-Monthan boneyard, but they absolutely will not sell a single screw to a private US citizen. So you're essentially just buying the parts back 3rd hand at a grossly inflated price. The US military determined it was not in their interests to allow a bunch of their decommed fighter jets into private hands, even if fairly paid for. They'd sooner destroy them, which they mostly did. That's the government for you.

Owning a jet like that isn’t the problem, it’s getting replacement parts that all those old military aircraft need replacing all the time.

How did they get this in the civvy world? I thought the navy wouldn't allow it. Maybe the guy has real good connections.
