Admittedly, it DOES contain old & outdated plot elements that were well-altered by the Disney version, but that doesn't change the fact that from then on Tim Curry is nothing but sweet and welcoming towards his love interest, while also coming off as believably lonely and sympathetic. And funny enough, it was released in 1998, the same year he started voicing Nigel, so that certainly says something. 😊

I think it was said on the show that they got grants for their research and money from the network for the show. Also, it appears that Nigel's parents are very well to do and seem to come from old money. With the RV, they aren't paying a ton in hotels, they buy a lot of local food and they could save on plane tickets. The most expensive part would be moving their large vehicle between continents, but that isn't exactly impossible or outside the realm of affordability considering they have their routes and destinations planned out.

The Wild Thornberrys is a very underappreciated and great Nickelodeon show, Klasky Csupo of Rocket Power and As Told By Ginger did a brilliant job with The Wild Thornberrys, and Nigel Thornberry spawned so many great memes.
